  1. I think you’re overstating Sams faults. Or maybe over expecting. He’s not a franchise level player, but there is only about 15-20 of those in the league at any point in time. All the rest have flaws. It comes down to matching the player to the team and system.
  2. That was ligers point. He said university because he was referring to large schools.
  3. Perfect preparation for working for a big company. Me too. Nothing more humbling, and sometimes downright degrading, than a job search.
  4. Sams “fault” is he doesn’t have a flashy, dynamic game. That description can be used to describe a power forward or a Mogilny. Sam is neither. His game is more controlled. Maybe even dull. I think we’d think alot better about Sam if we had a good 2nd line and the first line wasn’t so exposed. I also think that there is value in exploring if another style player wouldn’t be more beneficial to the team overall. But, Sam is pretty damned good and we’d need to make sure we don’t take a step backwards in that change, which is a very distinct possibility. I don’t recall another Sabre who is so under appreciated by some and over appreciated by others at the same time.
  5. Rammstein just released a teaser of their US tour this Summer. Sounds like a late Summer tour with less than 10 dates. Looks like NY, PA, Ont will get shows. My son and I are committing to go to one. This is a bucket list show for us. I’m excited already and they haven’t even announced dates.
  6. I seem to recall that Burke was GM in Van at the time and the consensus was that his statement was likely part of a negotiation ploy. I think that was the year we swapped Kassian for Hodgson.
  7. I’m thinking it had to do with something else.
  8. That has never once happened to me. *border
  9. That proposal is one bottom 6 forward and 1 forward destined for the European leagues.
  10. The base got traded TO tank.
  11. Developing players includes putting them into situations where they will succeed. Not just on an individual level, but at a group level. Just because GMTM moved picks and prospects doesn’t mean he was ignoring developing young players. He was also trying to build an organization that would succeed, so the players developed skills and habits that would continue the success. You can’t drop 20 kids into an organization that doesn’t have mid and late career players well populated in it. Obviously it wasn’t successful, but that is partially a function of “who”, not “what”. It was also a function of there not being enough of an organizational base to build from. And that lack of base to build from would hamstring any rebuild.
  12. The Astros took the low road to build that roster, and never turned off the low road it would seem. What a black mark on sports overall.
  13. “It doesn’t matter if the threat wasn’t imminent “ https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/477966-trump-says-it-doesnt-matter-if-soleimani-posed-an-imminent-threat
  14. They weren’t head hits, but I thought both those hits were clearly charges. 4+ heavy strides into him. And with pretty obvious intent to injure. Kassian was more or less in a position where he wasn’t going to be able to brace for those hits. Those were live by sword, die by the sword hits.
  15. I only saw 2 periods yesterday, but it seemed to me that Vessey looked decent on the 1st line. Did that go away in the 3rd?
  16. They were still winning until Mitts showed up, no? I only casually follow them. Totally casual observation so I could be off, but it sure seemed like the team was doing well until he arrived.
  17. ***** that Kassian is getting a hearing for that. Ray Ferraro said it well last night, that's the same kind of hits that the league cracked down on Raffe Torres for. The second hit especially was a blatant charge.
  18. I suspect THAT will be a deterrent to future shenanigans,.
  19. LOL. Are they really outclassing anyone right now?
  20. You have to start wondering if the Amerks slide is related to Mitts in the lineup.
  21. Only if the pain gives you pleasure.
  22. Few undersized players excel outside of top 6 roles.
  23. I think if he doesn’t develop into a top 6 forward his likelihood of being an NHL player is low.
  24. Accident in that they targeted the wrong plane, so truth but not whole truth. IMO of course. It's an interesting shot across the bow. We won't engage you conventionally, but attack us again and your friends will feel it.
  25. Sounds like the 4th line the actual team has right now.
