  1. And a pedant. *checked spelling twice*
  2. Just to nitpick, if you can measure it, it can't be intangible. It's right there in the definition of the root word.
  3. What vets was he going to sign off the street? The guys that would sign at the end of the tank were the same type of players we've complained about at the bottom of our roster for years. Washed up junk and barely ever was'. The only way we get talent like Kane, ROR, and Lehner is by giving up assets. Otherwise it's more of Strachan, Mezaros, Dalpe, Carlo Colaiacovo, and Erod. Let's not forget that this team still hasn't risen back to the high water mark that TM's team rose to after the tank. And letting kids suffer for another couple of years is a lousy way to develop them. There is a reason JBott has prioritized getting a winning team in Rochester. It's a huge development aid to put them in positions to succeed. Putting players in position to fail gets you players that lose their love for the game. I can't believe this isn't self evident. I don't buy that we are in cap hell. I don't buy that there are moves to be made now that our cap situation is keeping from happening. The moves aren't there. And if they are there good teams find a way to make them. Every year we proclaim surprise at what team X did at the deadline given their cap. Coming out of the tank the cupboards were BARE. FA's that would sign to an all time bad team were basically junk. Real players required real assets get moved. Murray's strategy didn't fail. The idea that we could crawl out of a 0 depth situation with half a roster is what failed. Punch Imlach reincarnated was going to fail. Scotty Bowman would have failed. Lou Lamoriello would have failed. It was a flawed plan, not a flawed execution.
  4. We didn't have enough NHL capable players and we had no veterans for our young kids. TM didn't have the luxury of patience. He needed to fill a roster with players good enough to allow the tank fruit to develop. He had to give up assets to do it. Otherwise we would have been dressing Mezaros and Neidermayer again. You can make a good argument that he traded assets for the wrong players. That's legit. But that's also not the argument being made here.
  5. Been that way for me since they started losing on purpose. Welcome to the apathy club.
  6. Shades of Shayne Corson telling Brad May in his rookie year that May was “just another in a long line of Sabres #%$$\%$”. Except May proceeded to show Corson differently immediately afterward.
  7. You know what is fun? Winning hockey games and being in the playoff race. The Hasek led teams would have been in the upper left quadrant. It was fun. We’ve forgotten how fun just simply winning more games than you lose can be. NYI is above Deluca .500, or at least was the last time I looked. Let’s start with winning games first and then go from there. I’ll take wins any way we get them. Cheese and rice. After a decade of suckitude we’re going to fussy about how we win?

  9. LOL do you even roster?
  10. Yeah super boring watching winning hockey. Sucks to be them.
  11. Irrational exuberance. The young players on the roster now are good pieces. That’s not the cupboard though. Rochester and juniors is the cupboard. Outside of Cozens and maybe UPL there just isn’t anything to be excited about. Who knows? He did say the owner would determine the extent of the rebuild.
  12. Right. There is no quick fix. The cupboards are way too bare. Perennial implies that we have players in Roc well along enough in the development cycle to step in and be effective. We aren’t even at the point yet where we have enough NHL players capable of moving up a line as needed, let alone guys in the A ready to step in. Suffering wasn’t sold hard enough as a long range possibility, even though it was a likely outcome of a complete tear down.
  13. This situation is interesting in all kinds of bad ways. When Hutton was brought in he had a reputation as a good locker room guy. A team guy. There is more than just Hutton that is broken here. Yet again, we have another player who mentally walks away from this team. Its a pattern now with multiple players over multiple seasons. WTF is going on in Pegula-ville?
  14. Smith Brown and Miller as above
  15. The only thing I can think of is the two versions of Ramsey/Ramsay Oh snap! There is a Miller on the team now. It is MIller. Brad, Ryan, and the guy RK won't let play.
  16. Brown is the other. Curtis Brown Brad Brown Greg Brown Still trying to get that 3rd last name.
  17. I got 2 in like 4 seconds. Is the 3rd more prevalent in Canadia?
  18. considering they followed the same path I'm not surprised.
  19. Can I subscribe to your newsletter?
  20. Vision systems today are stupid good. There is no reason why it couldn't be supplemented with a good vision system. You wouldn't want to rely on line of sight for everything, but between the two I bet you'd have better results than the officials and video replay.
  21. \m/ *headbang*
  22. What if they did but populated Tampa with all the clones? No, Thats not right. Clones can never hit what they’re shooting at. Never mind.
  23. The issue with simply plugging 2 more centers onto this roster and saying,” see how good this looks “ is that in order to get 2 good centers you are going to have to give up some of the good roster players on this team to get them. So you can’t just plug in X and Y and say we’re improved. Somewhere this roster gets downgraded to upgrade center. The ugly downside to tearing the team down to nothing is now we are pretty much solely dependent on the timing required to rebuild almost completely through the draft. The risk that it would take this long or longer was always high.
  24. I have no idea who that is, but I approve of the message nonetheless.
