  1. I don’t think this is an addition by subtraction situation though. As much as we’ve all been underwhelmed by Montours play, We didn’t improve because of this trade. Right now his replacement is...... Irwin? So PAs comment is correct.
  2. Agree with this. Hate this time of the season. We need hockey trades not scratch off tickets
  3. Weave

    OT: RIP

So did I but I know who he was. Then again, I still don't ignore new music.
  4. What stuck out to me regarding Mittlestadt's goal is he was in tight to score it. We don't have enough players that go there. He ducked behind all the traffic and got way inside to score that goal. Good for him. Not enough Sabres go there.
  5. In all fairness, you’re a rare bird.
  6. That isn’t what you read in the article you linked.
  7. That was my exact argument against all the posters here that were clamoring for a coach that wasn’t a retread. At least that has died off.
  8. Haven’t listened to 97Rock in at least a decade. Probably more. Were any of the morning show that got let go any of the old guard? Any Buffalo radio icons, or are they all long gone?
  9. We have all of the Rasmus variants, might as well have all of the Olofsson/Olausson variants as well.
  10. Statistically its more like 25% in the 2nd round. 50% is mid to late 1st round success. We should be hitting 1 out of every 4.
  11. Yeah. Staal seemed disinterested. Our return for Hasek seemed openly hostile.
  12. You’re a couple of pages too late 😁 but thanks for the affirmation.
  13. You have to hope this keeps up as the game changes when teams start jockeying for playoff position. Will be interesting to see how/if Casey adapts to the game becoming tighter and more intense.
  14. It literally was for nothing. All those tank years represent now is spent costs.
  15. I strongly suspect the Sabres drafting is below average, but before anyone proclaims just how bad they are, remember we had aSabres draft success thread just a few months ago that went into some depth regarding success rate compared to their peers and that thread showed that the Sabres really weren't that far off in most rounds, and hit for average in many. Like most things this season, the premise is overstated a fair amount.
  16. I’m not in the “move all the UFAs” camp. Lets make the moves to win some friggin hockey games. Now, Im not sure Hall fits in the win some games model for end of season roster movement. But some of our pending UFAs sure might.
  17. Now who is hurt?
  18. I don’t see that ad the case with Mitts. He demonstrably went backwards for 2 seasons. There were tons of red flags not associated with impatience. Hopefully he’s turned a corner. Frankly, the team needs him to arrive.
  19. Yup. Calling him ready and able is a bit of irrational exuberance. 5 games is a small sample size.
  20. If Cozens takes the next developmental step we all expect and Mitts takes the next step that has been keeping GA up at night it’s all needless anyway because Sam will be back to being more valuable as the obvious best RW on the team. I see it this way, Sam *might* turn into a good 2C on a good team. But we know he has good 1RW on a good team ability. We all expect Cozens to become a good 2C, so we’re back to, where is he most valuable?
  21. I posted in the 1st game day thread with Sam in the lineup at center that I was surprised it took this long. There were some obvious situations where Sam was our next best option. Mitts absolute failure as RORs replacement was one of them. Cozens going down was another. Fortunately we have a guy who can do this when needed. It will be interesting to see how this plays out with him not on the right wall now. There’s a helluva drop off.
  22. Or they were smart enough to realize that Sam was more valuable as our top RW than he was centering a couple of plugs on the 2nd line.
  23. Yup, Sam is Pat Sharp 2.0. A very good winger capable of playing center reasonably well when the top center goes down. The question always was, is he more valuable to the team as one of our top wingers or as the 3rd best center on the team. Right now he’s more valuable at center. I thought we already worked through this.
