2020 United States Presidential Election
Weave replied to LTS's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
You must really have an issue with elements of the south that to this day refuse to accept, adapt or tolerate the USA that they rose against. I mean, at least the immigrants coming in want to be a part of this nation and not impose their ideas on it..... -
We're debating getting together. Count case in my county is higher than it was in Spring. And the county I work in is blowing up. I really don't want to be the one who spreads it to my family. Inflammatory language helps immensely.

I'd buy your outrage over court packing if you showed any outrage over what was done with Garland in 2016, followed by the the 180 turn this September with Barrett. That's court packing too, regardless of the total number of judges. The intent was 100% the same. You don't get to do it and then claim the other side cannot. If you think what the Democrats stand for now is communism, or even socialism then you don't know what it is and how absolutely terrible it was either. Hint, noone is proposing state ownership of the means of production. And as already touched upon above, none of the previous immigration groups abandoned their cultures when they came here, why should the non-Europeans have to do it? Or is that the real issue, you don't want just the brown skinned cultures to grow here? -

You sure aren’t getting any new ideas or culture change by continuously hiring from within. -

Boomers are still the most populous generation and still have the ability to control elections just by their sheer numbers. It's frustrating because the only real option is to wait them out. -

One more point to make my point. How many consecutive elections have we heard some variation of “if elected President he’d be the oldest president ever to start a term”? Their moment had passed. Its time to let the next group have its moment. -

Well, that’s part of the problem. Unlike previous generations, This generation has refused to let the next generation lead. By the time age has taken its course gen X will be at a point where they need to step aside as well. I think a key difference is gen X is willing to see what the next generation can do and won’t box them out. And unlike the boomers we probably don’t have the numbers to do it if we wanted to. And there is this as well. -

I don’t hate them. I just want to see them step aside and let the next generation do their thing. -

More boomers. -
My complaint. Received a call from my son last night right at bed time. Always a hair raiser. He was stranded on side of road. Car died and wouldn’t restart. Got it towed to a local shop. This morning he gets the news. Timing chain broke. He’s just out of the warranty period. New motor is $5k, used is like 3.5k. The stats guys that figure out these warranty periods are good. *****. Frickin kid is all jacked up worrying about paying for it. Mom wants to come to his rescue. So much for my plans....

Those big ticks aren’t deer ticks. My understanding is that deer ticks are the transmitters. And deer ticks are tiny. Maybe that eases your mind a bit.

Nevada and recounts seem to be all that is remaining. Man is this close. I have to say, the only way I could stomach another 4 yrs of Trump is with a D majority in the Senate. With an R majority Senate likely, Biden has to come out on top or the next 4 yrs will be even more insufferable than the first. I'm really disappointed that the Senate didn't change hands. I really wanted to see the GOP punished for falling in line behind Trump. I needed that party get a message sent to them so they never make the mistake again. That clearly didn't happen here. -
Bullying and Hockey, NHL Draft Prospect gets Undrafted
Weave replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I don't have strong feelings one way or the other regarding this. Nearly entirely because sports at all levels is chock full of bullies. Lets face it, sports is testosterone on parade. We're watching and cheering for bullies every time we cheer on our favorite team. The difference between this kid and the "significant number of players" you mention is that this entered the public debate and any organization that brings this kid in is going to face scrutiny. Life isn't fair that way. I don't feel conflicted in any way over that. You do your stuff and if the public roars loud enough you pay for the mistake. Any one of us could put ourselves in a social media situation that causes our employer to consider their options. Are we being unfairly singled out? Sure. So what. It is what it is. Having said that, I am all for a more strongly enforced code of conduct and character policy that would almost certainly exclude this kid and others like him from the sport at an advanced level. But I know I'll never see it implemented in any meaningful way. I'm comfortable with how this played out -

Well, I think he pretty much had all of them with a reasonable chance of making it, so yeah, this would be one of them. 😀 -
You explained it perfectly the first time.
