Advanced Analytics says this team might be VERY good

Based on these we should be clammoring for a MAF trade. -
You and me both. I’m sure you miss the experience of playing live. I probably go out to listen to live music 20x per year. Haven’t heard a live band in over 1 yr now. Ugh.

They vote to their self interests. I think more often than not, who we are associating with is a higher self interest that real socio-economic self interests. I don't understand your "not true" comment. I was speaking of companies, like the NHL for instance and not individuals, so I don't understand how your "not true" applies. You get it. Business is rather blind to everything except profit. They need incentive to reach beyond profit making decisions. We consumers tend to not provide them with that incentive.
-
And corporations of all stripes are betting on us not supporting them. At the end of the day we generally don't look past our own wants/needs.
-
What the hell just happened? Pi on the pipe again?

Business won't lead the way, and we shouldn't expect them to. They operate to coldly and efficiently make money for their owners. Social issues are only important as a means of profit. I don't think it should be that way, but it is. Supposedly this is a feature, not a bug.

Fixing the Sabres Long-Term - Can it be done?
Weave replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
LOL it's not that negative really. Indifferent is a better word. I've commented a handful of times that Jack isn't being the dynamic player he needs to be. And Dahlin has looked dreadful in the D zone so far. Beyond that.... you may be thinking of someone else. -
I remember seeing 9 fingers on the ball in that photo. No hard feelings towards Harmon here. He was a player in the transition towards a dynasty.
-
I don’t think this is any different than any other corporation. Show them how they can profit from it short term and they’ll be all over it, otherwise they’ll pay lip service for PR, just like any other social cause.

Why do you think I am intent on dynamiting the team? All I said was, show me the return for Jack and I’ll decide whether or not I think it is worth trading him. And my recommendation to you is to stop recommending how other people perceive the team and their fandom. It’s obnoxious. -

You've got the concept (Kopitar is too old for my tastes). I avoided mentioning specific packages because that would devolve into a micro conversation about individual players, contracts, age, etc. and would completely overshadow my point, that a package could certainly be had that would improve the team immediately by virtue of filling all the holes and hide the loss of Jack reasonably well. It's not like it hasn't been done before. Is it rare? It sure as hell is, but so is Jack's talent. And so is our futility. -

5x5 play had been worrisome. -

Yeah, you're right. Bonafide superstars never get traded for 3-4 good players. It sure will be a surprise I'll give you that. -

I'm not talking about a backwards move. That's why I said I want to see the deal first. Return me a 1C, 1G, some scoring depth with playoff tested veteran grit and I'm gonna look real hard at it. -

Gretz was traded and Edm won a cup not too long after. Sometimes you take a step down in individual talent but increase team talent overall. The pic is Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead fame. \m/ -

Show me the return first. I'm not wedded to any of them. -
Been saying that for years. And it certainly wasn't an original idea of mine. Prediction, we stay predominately a 2 party system but the Republican party has a major transformation. Guys like Romney and the McCain family will be on the outside looking in and will be forced to make an unpleasant choice. Bush II will look like a liberal when this is over. This still looks to get worse before it gets better to me.

Thorny is a good guy. Especially when he's in agreement with me. Kreuger is trolling us now. -

I used to have a Polaroid of Don Luce that my dad took at a wedding reception they both attended. I used to see and talk to Rob Ray every year at the sportman's show that used to be in the Buffalo Convention center. Ray is/was an avid fisherman. Jim Lorentz attended the same church my wife and I used to attend. Saw him every Sunday. Saw Larry Playfair quite frequently at a breakfast place on Niagara Falls Blvd when my wife was pregnant and we used to go out to breakfast after church. My wife's former boss was good friends with Scotty Bowman and used to see him at the office regularly. She says he's an arrogant prick. Had a bit of a start studded flight home from LA one year. Last minute business trip. First class seats. Cindy Crawford was on the flight on the LA-Det leg. Sat behind Grant Fuhr for the Det-Buf leg. Alex Mogliny stopped into a liquor store that I worked to make a few bucks on the side. Cheap vodka. Go figure. -

Yes, point 1 was focused on one sentence. The rest was my continuing rant that we still haven't addressed badly needed mentoring over the last 5+ seasons. Just you wait until my razor sharp daggers are pointed at GA and his ridiculous notion that we should be playing more prospects. 😈 -

How does Dahlin have the best rookie season ever in the history of time for an 18 yr old Dman and not actually win the Calder? He had a helluva rookie season. Anything above that is arguable. He's got a serious flaw in his game for a generational talent. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe its between his ears. Hopefully he can work past it. I still think it is a lack of someone to mentor him. I'm not sure if there is an adequate alternative. -
Maybe he is the worst kind of tease, teasing fabricated things. We've all been there. Flashbacks and visceral reactions are excusable.
