  1. Blew out a tire in the middle of nowhere on my commute home. Jack is all jacked up. Like seized. You’re kidding, right? So here I am on the side of the road in southern nowhere, NY waiting for a tow truck to show up and change a tire. Dont want to know what this will end up costing me.
  2. 3 pages at game time.
  3. 1 page an hour before game time. The Pegulas have driven us away.
  4. The rule at the time was 4 1st round picks in the following 4 drafts, so it would have been mandatory that the return paid out over 4 years. EDM did NOT have the option of choosing other 1st round picks to give. It had to be the next 4 1st rounders that are given out based on where EDM finished in the standings the following 4 seasons.
  5. I'm not on hfboards. Maybe I should. This guy says it better, and with fewer words, than what I have been saying for 7 years. You want to know why the Sabres are dysfunctional? That quote explains it quite well. Even with the highest of picks, your player development sucks because you have no tenured vets from the good days that feel an obligation to mentor, and you've replaced them with mercenaries that aren't motivated to provide mentorship. The result is poor professional development and poor morale.
  6. It gets better after 21 again.
  7. My son just sent this to me. Ugh. And I just made hotel and airline reservations 2 weeks ago.
  8. Yeah, why would we want to measure our team against anything but the worst? F it. Let’s just relegate them like Soccer.
  9. I thought the thread headline said Vogl quit TheAthletic.
  10. Have any of the most recent coaches not impressed us with their first few press conferences? It seems like we could cut and past comments re: Bylsma’s, Housley, Krueger’s, first few pressers and they’d fit in this thread. Call me cynical, but why do we keep doing this?
  11. I'm signed up for Wednesday afternoon, but I need to drive 90 minutes from home to get it. Everyplace in my county is booked solid.
  12. Even Wilbur mailed it in. I think you're right, PA.
  13. So, I received a call from the kayak shop today. They have a larger model on the floor and available. Word on the street is the manufacturer is months ! behind schedule with manufacturing. I thought about it for a moment or so and told them to hold it until I get there to look at it. Came home with a new yak on the trailer, a new paddle in the car, and a much lighter wallet. Tomorrow I'll need to get the trailer properly set up for this kayak and then I can begin the fun of getting the sonar, trolling motor, and rod holders installed and wired up. I am giddy.
  14. My recollection was that he said it in a locker room clean out interview.
  15. Thinking of Detroit with LWL. NJD was using a more classic neutral zone trap which was a 1-2-2 set up.
  16. They were utilizing a left wing lock, which was a 1-2-2 system.
  17. The 1-2-2 part is definitely proven. NJD played it all the way to a Cup. But I'm pretty sure their defenders pressured at the line, and their forwards were terriers on a loose puck. And having Brodeur in the net helped too.
  18. It goes deeper than that for me. At the end of a season where he barely missed out on a bonus he lamented giving up too soon. W.T.A.F. The reported lack of respect for Gionta and Georges. The slow line changes. If there is one thing most fans have low tolerance for it is taking the gifts you've got, and the opportunity presented to you for granted. And Jack has definitely done his share of things to make it appear that he's taking what he's got for granted to some degree. By contrast, everyone respects Matt freaking Ellis.
  19. This concept has been my argument why the tank was doomed to failure. It has forced development of these kids at a harmful rate. I think Pi’s point had some merit. It is a speed league. Lacking high end speed, his other shortfalls get magnified.
  20. Clearly not.😆
  21. I generally like the lunch pail guys. Girgs, Lazar, Cozens, McCabe. Most of the rest range from OK to meh for me. Okposos fall off makes it hard to have the same level of “like” that I used to have. He’s a lunch pail guy too. Always was. But he just can’t do it anymore and it’s not his fault. Father Time has caught up.
