How well did teams do with drafting in the 2nd Round?
Weave replied to Zamboni's topic in The Aud Club
Statistically its more like 25% in the 2nd round. 50% is mid to late 1st round success. We should be hitting 1 out of every 4. -
Yeah. Staal seemed disinterested. Our return for Hasek seemed openly hostile.
-
You’re a couple of pages too late 😁 but thanks for the affirmation.
-
You have to hope this keeps up as the game changes when teams start jockeying for playoff position. Will be interesting to see how/if Casey adapts to the game becoming tighter and more intense.
-
It literally was for nothing. All those tank years represent now is spent costs.

The Sabres Draft Like Garbage: Here are the Receipts
Weave replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I strongly suspect the Sabres drafting is below average, but before anyone proclaims just how bad they are, remember we had aSabres draft success thread just a few months ago that went into some depth regarding success rate compared to their peers and that thread showed that the Sabres really weren't that far off in most rounds, and hit for average in many. Like most things this season, the premise is overstated a fair amount. -
I’m not in the “move all the UFAs” camp. Lets make the moves to win some friggin hockey games. Now, Im not sure Hall fits in the win some games model for end of season roster movement. But some of our pending UFAs sure might.
-
Now who is hurt?
-
I don’t see that ad the case with Mitts. He demonstrably went backwards for 2 seasons. There were tons of red flags not associated with impatience. Hopefully he’s turned a corner. Frankly, the team needs him to arrive.
-
Yup. Calling him ready and able is a bit of irrational exuberance. 5 games is a small sample size.
-
If Cozens takes the next developmental step we all expect and Mitts takes the next step that has been keeping GA up at night it’s all needless anyway because Sam will be back to being more valuable as the obvious best RW on the team. I see it this way, Sam *might* turn into a good 2C on a good team. But we know he has good 1RW on a good team ability. We all expect Cozens to become a good 2C, so we’re back to, where is he most valuable?
-
I posted in the 1st game day thread with Sam in the lineup at center that I was surprised it took this long. There were some obvious situations where Sam was our next best option. Mitts absolute failure as RORs replacement was one of them. Cozens going down was another. Fortunately we have a guy who can do this when needed. It will be interesting to see how this plays out with him not on the right wall now. There’s a helluva drop off.
-
Or they were smart enough to realize that Sam was more valuable as our top RW than he was centering a couple of plugs on the 2nd line.
-
Yup, Sam is Pat Sharp 2.0. A very good winger capable of playing center reasonably well when the top center goes down. The question always was, is he more valuable to the team as one of our top wingers or as the 3rd best center on the team. Right now he’s more valuable at center. I thought we already worked through this.

This fanbase is so bipolar. Its gonna take more than a few games to see what we really have.
-
Have. Not of. Have. *twitch*

BTW, PA, love these.

"Harris is a bum" was a frequent Aud chant for good reason....
-
Skinner is a diver, but I can’t see even Skinner dropping his stick on purpose with clear ice between him and the goal. He’s taking that to the net every time.
-
You’re asking GA to change his spots. He’s consistent with this.
-
That is sad. Covid scared the hell out of us when my wife got it last month. Flu my ass.
-
If he’s a bad guy (and I have no idea if he is or not) I don’t want him around our team for 20 minutes of hockey, let alone 20 games. KA is going to need some intel on this. Lindy does not have a history of throwing away good players without reason.
-
For a few games, fine. For the balance of the season? ***** no. They don’t need a pressure cooker and bad room. If we’re moving a bunch of UFAs we’ll need players for the balance of the season and I don’t want our kids thrown into that role.
-
I don’t want this either. We’ve been throwing players to the wolves for almost 10 years now. We need NHL bodies.
-
We will need bodies if we are moving a bunch of UFA's. I just question this particular body given how his time in NJD has gone south.
