  1. Originally posted this in the wrong gameday thread..... Actually watched this one. First one in a long time. They looked good. I'm not convinced Pitt had their full intensity this afternoon, but still, they beat Pitt. That stands for something. Re: Sam at center. My contention always was that Sam was not dynamic enough to primarily play center. My opinion has not changed. Today I saw why so many think Sam is slow, and I think it is why I saw him as not dynamic. I don't think he's slow, but it looked to me like he slows down play at center. I don't know if he is trying to draw defenders to him, or if he is waiting for his linemates to get to certain areas, but it seemed to me that Sam does slow down the game as he approaches and enters the offensive zone. His goals today also convince me he is more valuable as the guy being set up, not the guy doing the setting up.
  2. LOL Wrong P-burgh gameday thread. reposting.
  3. At the end of the day we are only going to have so many stay at home types. Borgen, McCabe, Samualsson seem to be the candidates. It might come down to how many pairs do they want a stay at home guy on and side may not be a factor.

  5. Or it is a trial to see how badly we need Borgen. It might not be McCabe that gets moved on from. It might be Borgen. Similar games.
  6. My gut says they are still a bad team and it's our lowered standards that are saying otherwise.
  7. Any trade of Jack is not going to be a Jack for Center X trade by itself. It would almost certainly be patterned after the Turgeon-LaFontaine trade with multiple parts moving. The Sabres traded their just below star level center, a 3rd line LW, top pair D man, and a throw in center for a superstar center, middle 6 LW, and a bottom pair D man. If we are the team with the superstar center we would be downgrading C a bit, upgrading D to balance the trade, and maybe swith out equal parts to get a different mix. So an actual trade of Jack in concept would look more like Jack, Miller, and Bjork/Thompson for a lesser 1C, top pair D man, and middle 6 wing. Maybe you sub a goalie coming back instead of a defenseman upgrade, but that is the idea.
  8. Wow. Would have thought Gordie Howe had that locked up.
  9. Meddling in a meddler’s business?
  10. Honest question. Has Granato given specifics in post game PCs?
  11. So nothing about Bert requesting a trade then.
  12. And the only thing we gave up for Hall was Pegula’s money and opportunity cost (to be fair). But I don’t know that we had an opportunity at another player of Hall’s stature so I’m not convinced opportunity cost was significant. We got a 2nd round pick for Pegula’s money basically.
  13. There is no small amount of irony here (as PA has alluded to elsewhere) that we are now rooting for the kind of finish to the season that we used to ridicule the team for in the past. I still say win em all.
  14. I hate that we are a society that almost automatically assigns extremely negative personality traits to people we don’t agree with. We didn’t agree with how RK approached coaching and we label him a con artist.
  15. So we’re staying this weekend at a bed and breakfast we’ve been going to almost every year for the last 20 years. The first time we ever stayed here, in the middle of the stay I had a kidney stone decide it wanted out. 20 yrs later and here I am, kidney stone raising hell again.
  16. I don’t remember that story.
  17. Don’t look now but Hall is on the scorsheet.
  18. Is Cozens at C or RW tonight?
  19. As someone who purchased more than a few SRO tix I can say with some certainty that SRO was often over sold so there were plenty of people looking over the shoulder of those who had a beer rail.
  20. I seem to recall at some point before the Aud closed that the city stopped allowing SRO tix due to occupancy ordinances, so I am surprised a bit to here they had SRO tix for that last game.
  21. Reservations required and most places are already booked. They are doing small table reservations with higher prices and bigger pours but fewer selections. And less personal interaction. Pre Covid we used to come on Wed-Thu as out first days and have long conversations with the winemakers and brewers. More distance and formality so far.
  22. I don’t see Adams as a lose on purpose personality at all. No doubt in my mind he wants to see Linus back asap.
  23. The folks looking to protect Borgen are projecting a more balanced defence. There is significant value in that. He’s also a player that still has room to grow. Risto is wysiwyg.
  24. I think this is great to hear. We need him to be all in or find someone who is. This is not inevitable. The team does not have to revolve around any one player.
