  1. Why wouldn’t they mention his size? If the skill is there, size is an advantage. It’s weird that someone would disregard that attribute if they have the other needed attributes as well.
  2. The game last night is a pretty good example as to why the Sabres should NOT stand pat with this roster of forwards. This lineup needs more of an upgrade than what an offseason of development will provide. It’s good that so many of the kids are showing development, but most of those kids are not the answer if the goal is to catch and overtake Boston. There are limitations of our forwards skillsets and demeanor. We have alot of the same kind of player in our kids. Management needs to target those missing traits and move a couple of kids to obtain the missing traits. Yes I know some of the kids that we move will blossom. So what. Thats what happens with hockey trades. Good players do well elsewhere and the good players we bring in will improve our team here.
  3. They did add a puncher. Patrick Maroon.
  4. Boston is just so much more tenacious on the puck than Buffalo. Like wolves on a sheep.
  5. My point is, why the secrecy? Its not like he’s gonna be targeted. He won’t be in the lineup.
  6. Why the LBI stuff when it is season ending? and, in before #injurypronebust
  7. It'll be the day before GA posts his first KA dooooo sumthinnnnn thread.
  8. At 32 I'm not concerned, but even though his game is a heady game it is the truly great skaters that play well after they've hit 30ish. Sam doesn't fit that description (I agree he's not slow, he's just not a liquid skater) I imagine at 32 Sam will be a 3rd liner or powerplay specialist. By contrast, Dahlin's skating skills, if he doesn't lose them to injury, could afford him a career like Teppo's or James Patrick's.
  9. This might be the majority of it right here.

    Dis or Dat?

How do you correct a bad engraving? Are they welding metal back that was removed?
  11. If you are trading Eichel you need current players coming back or it is a trade not worth making.
  12. the problem with sitting on this roster more or less as is is the same problem The Tank had. There are too many if this, if this, if this that have to all line up properly for success to happen. The correct move is to trade in some of those if this for some higher probability players (ie. proven). AAAAAANNNNDDD.... we really do need an influx of a few things this roster doesn't have.
  13. No letters while you are still on your rookie contract. #myrules
  14. Outwill his abilities.... Sounds like Matt Ellis.
  15. Sid didn’t own the Sabres. Everyone did.
  16. I suppose this thread was inevitable. Labatt Blue is correct. One of the roster changes needed is some additional grit to push back against teams like Boston. Having said that, if Dalton Smith had at least Eakins level of hockey in him he’d already be up. But he doesn’t, and we don’t need a pylon making things more difficult for this team.
  17. No it’s a cynical POV of what happens on Sabrespace at the final quarter of every season.
  18. Every year it is a different shiny new toy. This year it is the interim coach.
  19. I’ll disagree with your last sentence, and think you may be overstating the rest. He’s a good offensive player. He won’t be easily replaced. Teams don’t readily let go guys that produce as consistently as he has.
  20. Originally posted this in the wrong gameday thread..... Actually watched this one. First one in a long time. They looked good. I'm not convinced Pitt had their full intensity this afternoon, but still, they beat Pitt. That stands for something. Re: Sam at center. My contention always was that Sam was not dynamic enough to primarily play center. My opinion has not changed. Today I saw why so many think Sam is slow, and I think it is why I saw him as not dynamic. I don't think he's slow, but it looked to me like he slows down play at center. I don't know if he is trying to draw defenders to him, or if he is waiting for his linemates to get to certain areas, but it seemed to me that Sam does slow down the game as he approaches and enters the offensive zone. His goals today also convince me he is more valuable as the guy being set up, not the guy doing the setting up.
  21. LOL Wrong P-burgh gameday thread. reposting.
  22. At the end of the day we are only going to have so many stay at home types. Borgen, McCabe, Samualsson seem to be the candidates. It might come down to how many pairs do they want a stay at home guy on and side may not be a factor.
