  1. Shades of Darcy Regier.
  2. It didn't have to be a fight. Implied violence can work. I'm fairly convinced Jack was told don't do it again or there will be payback. But you have to be able to back that up for it to work.
  3. My initial reaction to that goal was, wow that's an embarassing way to get scored upon. The first time Eichel did that faceoff move where he pushes the puck ahead and gets around the other centerman, it resulted in Jack getting an earfull from the center he embarassed. It was a good while before he attempted that move a second time. I would not have hated a Sabre giving Zegras some business over that goal. Granted, with D Lo on that team our guy would have promptly got his ass kicked.
  4. One guy will hate him for being 6’5” and a minority will hate him for not being physical.
  5. More bettors = more money in the pool = more shenanigans
  6. My prediction is UPL plays reasonably well and it is a close game. But the better team will win. This one is the dreaded moral victory game.
  7. Without the head shots
  8. I don’t think anyone was suggesting that little guys with money on the line will directly work to rig games. More likely, the increased pool of money will further incentivize the rich and powerful people to rig outcomes. So, sports will work just like politics. 🙈
  9. Curious to hear some details. Its been at least 15 yrs for me. I wonder if things haven’t changed.
  10. If he values his reputation, he’s in hiding right now.
  11. Overalls are news worthy in Vancouver?
  12. Another option is to move Dahlin to the half wall. He’s plenty good at play making and makes defenders miss. I think he’d do well on the half wall, and when he does turn the puck over there is another layer of defense before they are in on the goalie.
  13. The point is noone is damaged until they reach a point where they sense they can no longer overcome the obstacle in front of them. It is a pollyanna concept that you just maintain a positive attitude and you will overcome it. It just doesn't work that way. Without an attainable goal, withering attitude is inevitable. Noone chooses to give in and fold. It is a natural result of an unattainable goal.
  14. It doesn't work that way. Constant failure is a huge demotivator that even the best motivated can be overcome by. See ROR. Even top motivated people need goals that are actually attainable to keep motivated. Goaltending is going to set the development of our kids back. Hopefully not permanently. Except its not anywhere near that simple. Tell a bullied kid that morale is their choice.
  15. Still not on the "sit him" train. Nor the "trade him" train. But his performance has dropped to the point where he is becoming a liability on the power play. At this point I'd not complain if he was dropped to the 2nd unit where he'll see the 2nd best penalty killers. Let him get his head straightened out before putting him back on the top unit.
  16. I could see that too
  17. Unless there is another long term injury KA is done with goalies this season.
  18. Does he have the comfort level with risk? In my experience risk tolerance is not a learned trait. Maybe that would explain the gaffes?
  19. Uh, that was the point.
  20. We need at least a Marty Biron because there are no guarantees that one of the guys developing ever becomes another Marty Biron.
  21. No examples, but in earlier years (80s maybe 90s) you did here of deals that were for future considerations from previous deals. So yes it used to be ised as described. But I haven’t heard of those in a long time
  22. He definitely seems to know enough to reliably select bad ones.
  23. I don’t know nuthin about nuthin. Thats my story and I’m sticking to it.
  24. Promo went on a drunk stroll through Sabrespace time.
