My recollection of the Paul Cyr story is that he was shot in the azz in an alley in Mexico.

I am not entirely convinced convinced that analytics is a big difference maker in assembling a winning team, but hey I'll support any advantage they try to use. It beats the days of innovating with video scouting.

Maybe not obscure, but Scott Arniel. I remember a Hockey News article (Gawd, I miss THN in its hey day) about Scott Arniel. The headline was somethign along the lines of "Meet the NHL's most average player". IIRC he was the average height, weight, age, and at least one or two other categories. I'm thinking it was number of teams played for and something else.

And that is a definite possibility. He would probably only be a 1C on Buffalo’s roster though. I don’t envision good team 1C as his ceiling, but I do see interim 1C while the eventual 1C is groomed. If everyone hits their probable peak we may have 3 or 4 C’s that are all within a step of each other, but with different traits. Shades of 06-07.
