I don’t think he hits any of our needs. He’s not really any improvement over any of our middle 6. He doesn’t fit the veteran leader mold, he doesn’t add any skillset that is missing from the lineup already, he’s not going to make the team tougher to play against compared to what we already have. Seems like he would be the definition of shuffling deck chairs.

Man, Zucker would be the one guy on the roster I would spend considerable effort trying to convince to stick around.

On a more serious note, does anyone have any scoop on these two? Is this an upgrade to the Amerks roster for the playoffs?

If this were any other franchise I would be all in on that being a showcase move.

None of them started as delicate little waifs. Remember when we all thought Dylan Cozens was going to be special because of his determination? This is what being unsupported looks like, and if they don’t get the support they need Benson is going to look shell shocked after games too.

We need a new deck of cards, not shuffling the deck we have now.

That pattern of improving their record once they are effectively eliminated from the playoffs may be attributed to the collection of weak minded players. The pattern repeating itself can almost certainly be attributed to a management team not committed to properly supporting the core we have.

Garbage time wins. This core has managed to give hope only when the wins come without significance. When pressure has been on, they have played at a level that is near bottom of the league. The comparison to last year indicates a consistency with this pattern.

“No good reason” is where we differ. Spending the last 2 months of the season prioritizing winning is a very good reason to me. Pretty much the definition of prioritizing winning IMO. Worth the nothing we spent to obtain Zucker.

At some point winning now needs to take precedence over asset management, or the hamster wheel will just keep going around. If a deadline deal for Zucker makes the team worse in the short run, I don’t need to move him at all.
