Alrighty folks, with the new season upon us, and this team seemingly about to become a perennial powerhouse (hopefully) I am dusting off my vintage, very rare Sabres jacket. I’ve never seen this anywhere before, it’s that rare. I was on vacation in ‘91 visiting my Nan in England and saw this in a North American sports store in a mall outside London. I was just 25 years old and couldn’t believe my eyes. England!!! I haven’t worn it for years but I think it’s time to start wearing it again. Hope you like it. If we don’t get better in our own end, we won’t be making the playoffs again. I’d give this group 10 games but if it’s leaking like last year, have to get another defensive player and proven goalie. Easier said than done though.

So, is UPL gonna make this team? Or will it be Comrie? Maybe the UPL experiment is over? I didn’t see game, just asking for opinions.

You’re bang on with that statement. They were told by Linden about 5 years ago to rebuild. Benning and ownership said no so Trevor left. He was dead right. The Canucks honestly don’t have the feel of knowing what they’re doing sometimes. Even last year they could’ve gotten worse and better odds for the hometown phenom but instead they went the other way and won games they shouldn’t have. I don’t know what they’ll fully look like this year but they risk staying out of the dance longer because of their lack of biting the bullet. They’d probably be rebuilt already had they listened to Linden back then.

The Canucks are not making the playoffs next year unless some other teams really poop the bed.

We should kick tires on Marc Andre Fleury. He’s got one year left. Come mentor our young guys. He’d be a great mentor and still can play 30-35 game.

Like this pickup. Physical and knows what winning is like. Good piece. We need these types of guys. Keep the puck out and let the offense do it’s thing .

Pretty pricey for a 5/6D

I love when people say it’s no big deal. An Achilles injury isn’t ideal ever! Surgery isn’t ideal. This is a big deal, ask Jack.

We need to get busy here. Our division rivals look poised to add Hanifan for example. We can’t sit back and watch others get better. Hopefully there are some big moves planned.

And now I see Florida wants in on Hanifan and possibly Bertuzzi. We all know our Sabres are on the upswing but they also need to get ahead of their rivals too. This is gonna be very interesting.

It didn’t say what year 2nds were. It was supposedly up online and then quickly taken down. Maybe Hanifan signs long term? VO is gonna be hard to deal for a warm body straight up with his $4.75 million expiring deal. So it’s not that far fetched.

rumor that Sabres trade Olofsson to Calgary for Hanifan and two 2nd round picks. Very new rumor. Apparently it was online and then it wasn’t. Was an nhl page. Just thought I’d put that out there. Imagine.

Devils may be the top seed this season.

I’ve read that he was only good in contract years, or only played when he felt like it, etc. It doesn’t matter. Mogilny probably could’ve been a greater player had he had the drive but his stats and accomplishments still easily warrant a spot in the Hall. Honestly, it’s getting a lot of attention and really making the HHOF look kinda bush league. They’re embarrassing themselves excluding him.

It’s unreal. I know Almo took some seasons off, and was an enigma, but it doesn’t matter if he was liked or not, or if he wasted his talent, his stats still are more than enough to get in. It makes the HHOF look stupid tbh and spiteful. He should get in on being a builder alone. Crazy.

It’s gotten beyond ridiculous that Alex has not been inducted to the HHOF. congrats to Pierre Turgeon and Tom Barrasso, but my goodness what a farce to omit Mogilny. Travesty.

Whaaaaaat? $5 million per? 😂 If we signed him it would have to be one year, $900k. If he sucks, bury him in the press box. But that’s a big IF.

Jack showed everyone he’s a good player. Not a leader but very good on a deep team. He’s lucky Vegas is Vegas. A group that rolls the dice and lives with it. Had Jack not had successful surgery and had to retire, Begas would’ve said whatever, who can we get next? They knew it was a risk, and took it. And good for them and Jack. He’s looked happy and relaxed now that they’ve won it, and showed his lighter side. I don’t doubt he wanted to win in Buffalo and knew he wasn’t their first choice and was surrounded by a lot of clowns at the start. anyway, we got some great guys and we will be just fine. And good for Jack too.

The Sabres should go nowhere near OEL. Major decline. He’s not what we need.

What do we think about Barbeshev? He was awesome this playoffs. Big body, gets points. We be interested?
