Because athletes aren't role models, they're entertainers. Your child doesn't know them, they are complete strangers, and if a professional athletes actions can influence your child's behavior/actions than yeah, you've failed as a parent. Take responsibility and parent your own kids.
-
If your child's role model is a professional athlete you failed as a parent.

Valid points sir, thank you.

If your a young single man with lots of money is there a less fun NHL city to live in than Buffalo? Columbus maybe?

Remembrance of fallen hero's.... Mourning the loss of fallen hero's.... Celebrating the lives of fallen hero's..... I think the direction community goes is in part based on the fabric of that community. My views are closely aligned with Elevens and K-9, but that don't mean that other views are wrong. PA, I think you had some very good points, and I was 90% with you until the video. You are absolutely correct about one thing though, hypocracy runs amuck on this board.

HEY!! This is a hockey forum! *ducks*

Who doesn't like moose knuckles?

I know exactly what your point was, and you know exactly what I think of your point. I can understand what Aud's point was. And I respect his thoughts/feelings/opinions on the subject. Elevens post rubbed me the wrong way. So what. Again, I stand by my post, zero given. Don't like my opinions? Who gives a ? Eat a bag of moose knuckles.

Even if there are, they have long since reenlisted voluntarily so yes, we all volunteered.

There are some good points in there we've. They're buried in a bunch of crap, but there's a few in there. There's not a whole lot of injustice within the veteran population. The injustice, sometimes perceived injustice, is more Oden than not due to laziness or ignorance of the individual, neither of which is acceptable. I agree with you on the post-Vietnam guilt, not sure we agree about much else.

Me too. Irwin, if you would like to continue this discussion PM me

First: Point of my first post was that the further we get from 9/11 the less people care. Feel free to search Memorial Day threads of years past and prove me wrong. Second: this place may have started out as a hockey forum, but so much more is discussed. Many of the more popular threads have nothing to do with hockey. Referring to this place as a hockey forum is an insult to the message board community this place has evolved into. Third: I re-read my second post. I stand by it. Snark justified. Disagree if you wish, zero given.

So you feel it important enough to drop in and clarify for everyone that this day is ONLY for those who have fallen, in a thread created to show appreciation for those who have fallen, yet fail to show appreciation for those who have fallen. If this thread was for a 4th line winger from the 80's I'm sure your warmest condolences would have went out to his friends and family. I knew I could count on Aud and you to prove my point, stay classy gentlemen...

Silly Neo, didn't you get the memo? Appreciation towards those who've served is so 2010. It's not like they're obscure 4th line journeymen, of course if they were we'd have three pages filled. But we're not talking about obscure 4th line journeymen, just those who've served their country, and the sad truth is we're too far removed from 9/11 for most people to give a sh!t. As a retired Soldier, thank you for your sincere appreciation.

You both seem to have your issues/demons under control. Congratulations. Very impressive. And very admirable.

Very funny. As a Sabres fan and US citizen I laughed out loud. As a Pagula worshipper and semi-supporter of Trump, YOU!!! Well done...
-
Agreed. If they're able to get a downtown arena they may become Nashville west.

How do you feel about Sabres charging for NHL Draft?
Hank replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Aud Club
At 20 it would have broken me too, and that sucks for your hypothetical father. But what about the hypothetical accountant who works 60 hours a week and wants to take his two boys but cant buy a ticket because the draft is free and 15,000 Torontonians camped out to get first come first served seating. Does it not suck for him too? It's not about money. I didn't always have money. from 02-04 I lived in the N 15th St projects in Olean and worked at Friendly's as a manager in training. I didnt make dick. And before that I was a single parent in the Army. Even as a Non-Commissioned Officer back then I received food stamps. Prior to Bush the Armed Forces were grossly underpaid. It's because, if I remember correctly, you're college age. When I was college age I was loud, obnoxious, drank too much and my body produced a large amount of testosterone. I'm in my mid 40's now. I'm quiet, reserved, don't drink to get drunk, and most importantly, my body produces about 1/4 the testosterone. What's the most likely demographic to be at a sporting event and have minimal income? college aged young men. If $30 helps ensure I sit next to someone who's more my age and maturity level than a college kid, I'm all for it. I'm viewing this from the point of a business because tha'ts what it is, a business, and I'm mature enough not to let my emotions get in the way of that fact. If the draft was free than fans who have jobs wouldn't be able to go because they have to work and can't camp out for tickets. You like the sound of the Toronto Bills? How about the Quebec Sabres? Yeah, for ensuring my beloved sports teams stay in the community, and for all the good he's done in the community, he gets a free pass on thirty ###### dollars! The draft sucks. At least live it does. Only people that would go are die hards, and guess what? They have us! We aren't going anywhere. And like it or not, Toronto IS local. And with the #1 pick, that building will be full of leafs fans regardless of price. -
OFF TOPIC OT: Moving the family out of state - destination: Nashville, TN area

Potato summed up the crime situation pretty well. For the most part it happens where you would expect it to. Do be where you shouldn't at times you shouldn't be there and you shouldn't have any issues. One thing I really like about living here is most of the neighborhoods are in subdivisions with cute names like "the hunt club" or "Quakers run" and so on. There's only one or two ways in so there's no through traffic. If you are in there its because you live there or are visiting someone who lives there. Otherwise you don't belong there and you'll stick out. Unless you're a social recluse you'll get to know your neighbors and hopefully make some good friends. Another thing I like is all the homes in the subdivision are similarly priced, so everyone should be on the same financial/social scale. Are you looking to rent or buy? If you can give us an idea of what you expect your household income to be some of us could probably recommend neighborhoods for you to look. We don't have fleas down here, we have tics. Not sure if that's better or worse, but that's what we have.- 59 replies

You answered your own question as well as I could have. It's that simple. Buffalo fans care that much about hockey that they'll pay the price. It's $30. Who gives a . If that's going to break you, maybe you shouldn't be there. If that $30 is enough to keep you out, I'm happy, you're probably not someone I want sitting next to me. -

I work in Hendersonville and live down the road in Clarksville. If you have friends in the area I would imagine there isn't a whole lot you can get from us that you can't get from them... I'm familiar with the builders and framing crews in the middle Tennessee area. As with anything, some are better than others. A common practice is to inflate the lumber estimate, have the lumber company pick up the excess lumber for a credit but not pass that credit onto the customer. The difference often reaches five figures. Most framing crews are made up of illegal immigrants, if having an American crew is important to you there are very few of them. If you plan on having a home built I can advise you. Lacrosse is not big here, if one of your kids play let me know when you get settled and I can put you in touch with a coach in your area. Same with rugby. The best aquarium I've ever been to is in Newport, KY, just south of Cincinatti, 4-4 1/2 hours away depending on where you settle. Definitely a must for the kids. Tornadoes are not an issue where we are. I've lived here since 04 and I think I've heard the siren go off three times with nothing actually touching down. Of course I was deployed to other parts of the world about half the time so that may not be completely accurate. I'll check with the wife but I would think if a tornado hit the area while I was gone she would have told me. Preds season tix are insanely cheap. If you decide you're interested I get 25% off. If you want to split a season or a half season I can help pair you with someone. Many lakes around here. You can swim seven months out of the year and boat 9-10 months. If you don't have a boat, get one. Day one - get season passes to Nashville Shores. Many great places for brunch, my favorite is Stoney River. Nashville has a great night life and great food.- 59 replies

I agree with everything you said. Glad to see you're finally coming around.
