  1. I would offer him the minimum to play 20 games a year. He'd never have to hop on an airplane all season.
  2. If you were the Ducks, wouldn't you just sign Gardiner?
  3. I thought the analytics crowd was watching who McKenzie likes? I've thought NJ's and Toronto's draft were selected by analytics for years, NJ after the first round by a poker player for a while, all of Toronto. I think Toronto has changed who runs the draft, it's not very similar to mine anymore, maybe it was just coincidence. As far as Carolina's 2019 draft, among 17 year olds, I have Suzuki 21, Murray 22, Rizzo 26, Heinola was good at age 17, age 16, not so much. Slepits I have at 47 among 19 year olds. So yeah, it indicates to me that an analytic was selecting those guys, but conversely they chose people in my 100's(Fensore), so it's not my model. I'm guessing that they draft like I guess NJ has been drafting, the analytic got the 3rd round on. Carolina also recently traded for Kyle Wood who my model has loved for years.
  4. The Leafs structured their cap so they can't sign Marner until the season starts and the LTIR players are off the cap, no?
  5. For me the gold and the blue are too close tonally (is tonally a word?)... doesn't have enough contrast. I'd be interested in what Josie has to say.
  6. I went UPL, it's an amazing even spread between votes.
  7. 8. eliteprospects.com
  9. Elite Prospects says Jonathan Tanner, I'll go with EP
  10. Vesey did spend some time on the PK. While he was on the ice, the other team scored 12.74 goals against per 60. To give you a comparison to the Buffalo PK, ERod is the worst regular at 7.58. Risto at 6.89... Girgensons was the best regular at 5.35
  11. It's not very scientific, I think there's some advantage to being big playing hockey, but the disadvantage is that you're still clumsy at a young age where small guys aren't fighting that. I think peak Tori Krug happens at a younger age than peak Chara.
  12. I would have been banging the drum for Grigo 2, but he's signed for next year. It's my theory that big guys have different developmental curves than little guys. And the Sabres were always trying to make Grigo heavier in the weight room, which I thought was the wrong approach.
  13. @Taro T Check out Grigo's 2018-2019 numbers some time
  14. What else would you use?
  15. Webster Street, not Oliver Street
  16. You don't end up watching the Sabres without carrying a little baggage. I grew up on Walck Road right where it bends between Payne and Nash.
  17. Wait a minute, there's a theater on Oliver Street? What did they do, take 3 bars, and remove the walls between them?
  18. Where was Nylander during the prospects camp?
  19. I think we were talking about Strome
  20. I wonder what Chicago was thinking, because the two players aren't close to comparable.
  21. I was going with Wile E Coyote since Taro made me look to see if the new forward was really 5'1".
  22. I think RaKish will do quite well
  23. I'm so stupid, I never got the user name.
  24. @Taro T I think Adam Fox forced a trade this year as well, but to be honest, I don't keep up with it that much.
  25. This is what I have for Gusev's draft year in 2018-2019: 1 TAYLOR HALL NHL 3947 2 ARTEMI PANARIN NHL 3172 3 TYLER SEGUIN NHL 2498 4 MARK STONE NHL 2354 5 NIKITA GUSEV KHL 2328 6 VLADIMIR TARASENKO NHL 2176 7 YEVGENI KUZNETSOV NHL 2122 8 KEVIN HAYES NHL 2108 9 NINO NIEDERREITER NHL 2053 10 RYAN JOHANSEN NHL 2048 That said, I don't think too much about how 27 year olds in the KHL value vs NHL players. So better, we'll look at each age group for KHL forwards only. This is the last 15 years for 22 year old KHL forwards: 1 ARTEMI PANARIN KHL 2648 2 ANATOLI GOLYSHEV KHL 2096 3 SERGEI SHIROKOV KHL 1647 4 JORI LEHTERÄ KHL 1391 5 NIKITA GUSEV KHL 1379 6 NIKOLAI LEMTYUGOV KHL 1193 7 VALERI NICHUSHKIN KHL 1076 8 LINUS OMARK KHL 1025 23 year old KHL forwards, last 15 years: Gusev was traded during the season, so one part was 4th, the other was 15th 1 JORI LEHTERÄ KHL 2270 2 JAKUB VORACEK KHL 1687 3 MAXIM SHALUNOV KHL 4 NIKITA GUSEV KHL 1646 24 year old KHL forwards, last 15 years: 1 NICKLAS BÄCKSTRÖM KHL 2316 2 ALEXANDER KHOKHLACHEV KHL 2010 3 JORI LEHTERÄ KHL 1946 4 MIKHAIL GRIGORENKO KHL 1872 5 ARTYOM ANISIMOV KHL 1772 6 DMITRI KUGRYSHEV KHL 1766 7 NIKOLAI PROKHORKIN KHL 1540 8 NIKITA GUSEV KHL 1535 25 year old KHL forwards, last 15 years: 1 SERGEI KOSTITSYN KHL 2281 2 JORI LEHTERÄ KHL 2017 3 SERGEI SHIROKOV KHL 1596 4 NIKITA GUSEV KHL 1470 26 year old KHL forwards, last 15 years 1 NIKITA GUSEV KHL 2328 2 BRANDON KOZUN KHL 1671 3 JUSTIN AZEVEDO KHL 1517 4 DAVID ULLSTRÖM KHL 1514 5 LINDEN VEY KHL 1456 I think this give you an idea of where Gusev fits into KHL hockey players. Me? I'd sign him for 2 years 4 million per year.
