  1. Against Florida there were two occasions where his forecheck created a turnover and he was left in front of the net at a bad angle and nobody to pass to. His line mates left him for dead. There was nothing to do but shoot the puck. If the entire team skated the way he did that game we would have won that one. I didn't like Mitts for a while and now I hope the Sabres find a way to keep him around going forward.
  2. I went from swearing at Mitts last year and early this year. Now I’m calling for him to be on the ice at points. I don’t think we could have shaken the lines up like we did today without Mitts. His versatility and tenacity lately is the glue. EDIT: Worth noting, he is the only guy on the roster who has played every single game.
  3. I think I agree. But I think you have to sit him for either NYR or NJD back to back. Maybe Lindy can do us a favor and hold his guys back a bit.
  4. 3 goals literally came off Sabres players. That’s insane, we should be talking about a 6-3 win and another .900 night from Levi. He did look a bit more human tonight even though he played well.
  5. I think the kid needs a break. But we need this game and he’ll sit one of NYR/NJD a few days later. Based on Levi’s whole vibe, I imagine he is drooling to play at MSG.
  6. It’s amazing how this kid is all smiles after letting in 6* tonight. It’s infectious. I totally agree. More just saying I wouldn’t lump that goal with the one that came off Powers leg. The kid is legit.
  7. I agree with all of this. On that Jost turn over, he was certainly left out to dry. But he left himself super vulnerable coming way to to challenge the shooter that way.
  8. That one’s on you Levi. (3 of them aren’t) He’s done what it takes to keep shots from the Redwings out of the back of the net tonight. He’s been good. But he looks a little more hectic tonight.
  9. I’m still annoyed that the Sabres have scored 8/9 goals scored tonight. EDIT: 9/10 scored.
  10. I agree. But tonight, against a dead RW team, a little more mix and match across the lines covers that up quite a bit. Tuch, Greenway, and Jost on 3 different lines is paying off tonight. I would like to see them against Carolina.
  11. He’s been perfect on pucks coming off of Redwing sticks. Terrible at saving pucks off of his teammates.
  12. Looks like they’re filming it now in the box.
  13. Levi vs Sabres S%, 0 Levu vs Redwings S%,100
  14. Deflected yes. But another poster or two have mentioned how much space Levi leaves up top due to size. The bipolar Buffalo fan in me cringes
  15. Agreed, and I’ve been hard on him. I also like these lines. They seem a bit more versatile. Where as our standard pairings felt like they had no balance. Basically full speed ahead or hold on.
  16. Cozy, Tage, Greenway. Even without the goal, that was a productive line.
  17. Razors pre-game. 😂 On fire today. ”I used to dominate Hasek in practice in practice. And I scored on him in Chicago. Look it up” ”You had to get a few fines back in the day to help the tax situation. Now you can’t write it off”
  18. I don't think we have done a good job of playing "our style" of hockey since the All Star break. The Sabres are playing better in their own end than they have been. But generally in the defensive zone they have a tendency to collapse when the game gets stuck there. They have not been doing that, so in a sense they are playing better without playing different. We struggled to get through the neutral zone at times vs. Florida. An issue that seems to plague this team for stretches when teams forecheck hard or play the trap game. So in that sense, they are sticking to "Sabre hockey" 2022-23 edition. The kid has been lights out.
  19. I am open to him staying up. But if they go that route they need to at least find a vet capable of playing the 1a/1b role with him, if not be a clear cut 1G. I worry about getting 40-50 games out of him next year. He might be totally capable, but I would much prefer somebody to spell him for serious stretches. I think finding a vet at that level who is willing to take a short term deal knowing they aren't in any long or mid-term plans is easier said than done. Ideally Craig Anderson circa ~2015/16-ish would be a good get.
  20. I think even with the current expiring contracts, the Sabres are at the cap floor for the 23-24 season. For all the talk of the Pegulas pulling back spending on the Sabres, once they get Power/Dahlin on new deals they’re cap is going to look like every other team in the league.
  21. If we’re going to do this Mitts is going to do it. He’s been close all night.
  22. Mitts has an extra gear this period. Come on Donnie.
  23. I think we try and score too many “perfect” goals. I’m fine littering the net with mediocre shots. But we are terrified to crash the net and try and sweep up the garbage.
  24. Mitts hung out to dry twice by his line mates.
  25. I don’t mind the occasional 3 on 2 like we’ve seen here if we’re playing fast the other way. Also crash the net guys. Mitts standing around for a full second and nobody there to feed. More of this please.
