What will be the Sabres approach at the trade deadline?
thewookie1 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
As per always, the Sabres are screwed by both themselves and the league as a whole. We all know their shortcomings but the league itself changed thus dooming us. When the Sabres first went into the tank in 2012, we weren't alone in the strategy being used. While we took it far further than most, it was common practice for teams to trade pending UFAs for prospects and picks when they were bad and then in the offseason you could take those prospects and picks and either use them straight up or potentially spin them to another team looking to retool. Effectively you could trade $1 for 4 Quarters at the deadline and then use those 4 Quarters for a different $1 in the offseason if you so desired. Nowadays that no longer works for us at the very least. We can acquire all the money in the world (in assets) but when we go to buy everyone inflates their prices absurdly and/or closes up shop on useful pieces. As such we are trapped in a hold and wait pattern trying to make Hockey Trades because we can't exchange 4 Quarters for $1 any more and are stuck offering $1 for $1 type trades. -

Why would we care what they want; we have zero reason to trade Tuch. Hell heβs one of the few bright spots this team still has. -

The scariest part of 7D is that Byram looks scatterbrained when with anyone aside Dahlin. Makes me concerned about Byramβs value -

In the 3rd period, we all saw the Cozens from 2 years ago that skated hard, hit some people and effectively was around the puck constantly. -

Great 3rd period; the Alamo mode near the end was scary but Dahlin nearly scoring off the deflection backhand that trickled wide without being an icing -

Minus the 13 game losing streak they are 23-17-2 Which is slightly above .500 or slightly above. But for a 2nd year in a row they have done this same song and dance of having a team that hovers around .500; last year we couldn't string wins together to save our life. This year we torpedoed our season by losing 13 consecutively. -

2 years in a row of a very similar seasonal journey play .500 or slightly above Take a few injuries to key pieces and have a death spiral of multiple losses play .500 or above season ends -

Good to see Tage playing with some rage after the whole 4nations snub Dahlin continues to just play great Everyone got in on the fun it seemed and neither GA was a βbadβ goal so a happy 2 pts to start the final 28. -
I roll my eyes at the pearl clutching but do agree with the hockey point in regards to Jack Hughes being the invisible man 95% of the time.

Feels like Levi himself got humbled this year; he'll be better for it. Remember last year he came off at times as a guy who was just there for a pit stop before resuming his NHL career. He was civil about it of course but you could tell he was more or less approaching it as a stop gap until we only had him and UPL. He struggled as the back up mightily in the NHL to start this season but went right back to dominate performances in Rochester; however this time he seems to be genuinely embracing the AHL experience instead of just biding his time looking for his next Sabres start.

We got what we deserved for counting on a Maple Leaf in Boston for a winner-take-all game. Eventually Matthews was going to choke.

***** son of a bitch did it really have to end with ***** McDavid scoring. After a bogus icing

Well Conner got scratched and Matthews was hurt last game for starters π Sabotage?
