What are our top tradeable assets really worth?
thewookie1 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Trade Value is a fickle thing; teams vary on how they value your guys as well as their own. Anything from recency bias to a GM not liking Russians can cause major fluctuations in a value. A team's circumstances also play a part in rather vet players or draft picks might be more useful. Unlike a a draft pick which has a set hierarchy, players can be valued radically different from team to team. For instance, in theory, a team a game breaking center like Boston would value a Savoie more than a deep center team like Vegas but that requires you to eliminate salary and stylistic evaluations. Not to mention, a player's true value may never be truly amounted too. Let's say Connor McDavid is worth exactly 8 1sts; now if you were to throw that offer out to all 31 other teams how many would bite? I'd imagine a good number would but many still wouldn't due to money or his contract length being a concern. But what happens if a team offers 4 1sts in 2025 and 4 1sts in 2032 (somehow) The value should theoretically be the same as a team giving 8 straight 1sts but the Oilers may have a different angle. Both are 8 1sts but the 4-4 choice gives them quicker access to half the bounty. Now what happens if a 3rd team offers 5 1sts in 2025? Value wise it wouldn't be 8 1sts but would 5 1sts in an immediate setting. So evaluations are a crapshoot. -
No thank you, I'm in no way interested in trading Power even for a great player like Tkachuk

Not planning to thank you very much lol

Levi isn't available; if UPL falters or gets hurt we'd literally be where we were 2 years ago with a mess of journeyman
-
Honestly I just wish he’d give his full effort and feistiness every game. When he’s jawing at the opposing players and jitterbugging around he’s a great player. His issue is when he isn’t feeling it, he’s practically worthless.
-
I doubt it was Pegula who demanded a full NMC. He’s at fault for being willing to pay Skinner 9mil since he didn’t want Botts to let him walk after scoring 40
-
That's far too rich for my blood. That's 3 1sts and our most defensive dman

The Combine for the McDavid/Eichel draft was the last time. Was downtown so I decided to slowly drive around the HarborCenter to see if I could spot a player I could recognize. So, with no one behind me, I went 20mph down Washington St. next to it. About half way down, McDavid, Marner, Strome and one other Canadian kid came out of the side door. McDavid, not paying attention walked directly off the curb into the road never even looking for traffic. Obviously my speed made it easy to stop but Marner grabbed McDavid by the sleeve and yanked him back onto the sidewalk. So that's the time I nearly hit a #1 slated prospect with my vehicle.

I'll try not to almost hit Celebrini with my car this time around.

He tends to be at least somewhat trustworthy with his predictions.

Arizona Coyotes are relocating to Utah as Utah HC (hockey club)
thewookie1 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
not HC, that's just idiotic. They aren't a soccer team -
I just had a dream that the Sabres won the Stanley Cup
thewookie1 replied to OverPowerYou's topic in The Aud Club
Probably my most vivid Sabres dream was just a regular game that I quite literally watched an entire game (I believe I was on Benadryl that night which could explain the extremely deep sleep I was in) This was years ago but it was incredibly realistic. So the idea that you could have an extremely detailed dream isn't unrealistic in the slightest. -
The issue here would be is Savoie ready to step right in and become at least 33% of Skinner’s production? Id also check if we could trade Skinner for Trouba or Coulture before buying him out. In no small part because I really don’t want him to sign 1x1mil in Toronto
-
If you buyout Skinner yes you get a cool 7.5 mil in new cap space for this singular year. However, any replacement for his production will make the combined cap hit the next two years worse than we'd have if we just waited. Imagine if you will we replace his production by signing a 5mil player for 3 years. Well, this year he'd have a cap hit of 6.44mil, next year it would rise to 9.44mil and then in two years it would be a whopping 11.44mil. It's not exactly easy to straight up replace a 25+ goal scorer and not take a beating over the next two seasons in cap space which we'll likely need for Peterka, Quinn, Benson, Levi, etc. Trading him is far better way to rid of his cap hit, albeit partially. Your only option with a buyout this year is to sign a player to a 1 year deal, hope Quinn/Peterka fill the hole and then sign another 1 year deal at 4mil next year and 2.5mil in 2 years . Otherwise you are making a larger cap hit for the position.

I might trade Skinner for Trouba but otherwise I wait until next year.
-
I’d give Krebs 2x1.5mil UPL 3x4mil Blueger and Bryson are good at those numbers Id just go after someone more talented than Amadio if I’m giving anyone 3x3mil
-
At the end of the day I want the Cup drought in Canada to continue and McDavid to not get a Cup. Nothing against McDavid but he should of been a Sabre and his team doesn't deserve to be given a Cup too. Plus the headcase known as Evander Kane shouldn't get a ring either. Florida, I don't like all that much either but I would like to see Reinhart and Okposo win a Cup.
-
That is far too many years and cap for 3/4 line guys I'd give Blueger 2x2.75 but nothing more than that. Amadio is more akin to a 2mil guy and I'll give him a year. UPL will get at minimum 4mil x 3

So angry EDM made the Finals, wanted Pavelski to get a chance. Plus EDM doesn’t deserve it in the slightest seeing as they only got McDavid by being inept, winning multiple 1st Overalls which made the league change the odds which gave them McDavid over us. I pray Florida humbles them
-
No use in buying out Skinner; it will put us in a precarious position next year

I couldn’t care less if players have power. In my opinion when you sign a contract with the captaincy either explicitly or effectively given to you as a part of the deal; the player has an obligation to stick through most if not the entire contract. Anything besides that, not including the team itself dealing the player against their wishes, is a sign of a lack of conviction and character.
