Roy, Adam, 1 of many defensive prospects outside McNabb for Ryan. I don't see how that wouldn't work, A better Top 6 for a Top 6 + 2 prospects
-
Is he planning to retire? Did his test results ever come out?
-
I hope its wrong, I rather have those two than Ryan. I could part with Ennis or Grig but not both.
-
I like the idea, throw out a line to a potential diamond.
-
His #1 choice is the Flyers though..... His #2 better be Buffalo! The drafting of two Centers may spell the end to Roy and Adam as Sabres seeing that Hodgson and Ennis already fill the Goal Scoring and Speedy Center Roles. And one of two Cs we got are bound to become a #1 in a couple years. Roy is now completely expendible and Adam's style makes him expendible. Let's go get Ryan/Parise/Thorton preferably 2 of the 3.
-
On the matter of no C at 2nd Line, all 3 players there have some experience at Center so 1 of them is bound to click better at Center on that line.

FORWARDS Thomas Vanek ($7.143m) / Cody Hodgson ($1.667m) / Jason Pominville ($5.300m) Ville Leino ($4.500m) / Zach Parise ($7.200m) / Bobby Ryan ($5.100m) Marcus Foligno ($0.900m) / Tyler Ennis ($2.001m) / Drew Stafford ($4.000m) Patrick Kaleta ($1.200m) / Cody McCormick ($1.200m) / Corey Tropp ($0.700m) DEFENSEMEN Robyn Regehr ($4.020m) / Andrej Sekera ($2.750m) Tyler Myers ($5.500m) / Niklas Hjalmarsson ($3.500m) Christian Ehrhoff ($4.000m) / Alexander Sulzer ($0.725m) Brayden McNabb ($0.900m) / GOALTENDERS Ryan Miller ($6.250m) Jhonas Enroth ($0.675m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $70,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $69,230,273; BONUSES: $1,245,000 CAP SPACE (21-man roster): $1,069,727 Players traded or sent to minors: Roy, Leopold, Weber, Gerbe, Ellis, Adam Players gained: Ryan, Parise, Hjalmarsson Before you say this is impossible let me explain how. Adam, Weber, another moderate prospect, and 12th pick for Ryan Roy + 2nd rounder for Hjalmarsson, Frolik (to bury), and a 3rd rounder Sign Parise to some length deal longer than 2 years at 7.2 mill cap hit. Who wouldn't come to Buffalo when you see them doing alot of moving and shaking + his friend Stafford is here. Leopold would need to be dealt, or we can keep him and move Roy for someone else. We would need to play a 3 line cycle to allow our multiple guns to fire on the net.
-
I could see the Ducks biting on a Roy, Weber/Sekera/Leopold, & 21st pick for Ryan since that's "2nd Line" Center, A top 4 D man, and a 1st rounder which is what they supposedly were asking for. or Maybe we could try Adam,Leopold, moderate prospect, 12th pick, a 2nd rounder that may work in the right situation for Ryan. Because then we can shop Roy and Enroth to Chicago for H-long name Defenseman :) and some gritty player and a 2nd. Then chase down a team with Stafford, Weber + 2nd rounder for another forward with strength and no fear in hitting. If only Dustin Brown were still availible ..... :(
-
Adam,12th or 21st pick,Weber or prospect outside of McNabb on the D side for Ryan Is that plausible? What could Roy/Stafford bring in a deal seperate or together paired with a 2nd Can Vanek get Nash 1 for 1? 2 40 goal seasons for 1 40 goal season but a year younger
-
Only way Hasek returns to Buffalo is if he plans to be a backup and just wants to back in the NHL. Enroth regardless could fetch us something in a trade.
-
1. Trade Vanek to Columbus for Nash straight up 2. Trade Roy & Weber to Chicago for Sharp & something random or to Anaheim for Getzlaf & something random 3. Trade Stafford, Sekera, and a 1st to LA for Brown and someone to bury in Rochester. 4. Sign a Power Forward for Hodgson's 2b line. Resign Ennis,Kaleta, and Sulzer. FORWARDS Rick Nash ($7.800m) / Patrick Sharp ($5.900m) / Dustin Brown ($3.175m) Marcus Foligno ($0.900m) / Tyler Ennis ($2.000m) / Jason Pominville ($5.300m) Ville Leino ($4.500m) / Cody Hodgson ($1.667m) / Power Forward with ability Corey Tropp ($0.700m) / Cody McCormick ($1.200m) / Patrick Kaleta ($1.200m) DEFENSEMEN Tyler Myers ($5.500m) / Robyn Regehr ($4.020m) Christian Ehrhoff ($4.000m) / Jordan Leopold ($3.000m) Alexander Sulzer ($1.100m) / Brayden McNabb ($0.900m) GOALTENDERS Ryan Miller ($6.250m) Jhonas Enroth ($0.675m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $68,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $59,786,666; BONUSES: $1,245,000 CAP SPACE (19-man roster): $8,513,334

It still has far to small of a roster. Tropp and Foligno can't be the only physical players on our roster. Especially after seeing this 1st Round already. Roy + 2 1sts should be used on a could be. If we can't get a big named center we may as well stick with Hodgson and Ennis and just try and upgrade the second line's wingers. (Vanek/Stafford) (If one puts Pominville with Foligno and Ennis) I like the idea of getting rid of Sekera and Leopold. Suter would be a nice grab but that would have us devoting 19.67million to the defence without fixing any glaring problems for at least another couple years.
-
Leino atm is worthless to trade, and to bury his cap room means we gve him one year total to get into the system.
-
Vanek + 5th for Nash maybe? Roy (not really sure) Stafford + 2nd for D. Brown Other players to rid of: Kaleta (has a target on his back) Gerbe (To small) Boyes Hecht Sekera CAPGEEK.COM CAP CALCULATOR ROSTER My Custom Lineup FORWARDS Rick Nash ($7.800m) / Cody Hodgson ($1.667m) / Dustin Brown ($3.175m) Marcus Foligno ($0.900m) / Tyler Ennis ($2.001m) / Jason Pominville ($5.300m) Ville Leino ($4.500m) / Need Center() / Need Right Winger() Cody McCormick ($1.200m) / Need Center() / Corey Tropp ($0.700m) DEFENSEMEN Tyler Myers ($5.500m) / Robyn Regehr ($4.020m) Christian Ehrhoff ($4.000m) / Alexander Sulzer ($0.900m) Jordan Leopold ($3.000m) / Mike Weber ($0.950m) Brayden McNabb ($0.900m) / GOALTENDERS Ryan Miller ($6.250m) Jhonas Enroth ($0.675m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $67,000,000; CAP PAYROLL: $53,437,416; BONUSES: $1,245,000 CAP SPACE (18-man roster): $14,807,584 We would then need to build a line for Leino, if we can't get him to score with his very own line then he's hopeless. Pominville is somewhat like Stafford + more skill. Everyline needs some grit along with scoring ability.
-
But if we trade Stafford, Penner is a bit tougher, he has gotten into fights and would be cheaper.
-
Doan could be afforded but I doubt he'd play on a 3rd line. Aside him are there any other power forwards we could trade for and or sign who could be less risky then Penner?
-
What if we were to completely overhaul the team roster? FORWARDS Thomas Vanek ($7.142m) / Cody Hodgson ($1.666m) / Jason Pominville ($5.300m) Ville Leino ($4.500m) / Tyler Ennis ($1.575m) / Dustin Brown ($3.175m) Dustin Penner ($2.750m) / Derek Roy ($4.000m) / Nathan Gerbe ($1.433m) Corey Tropp ($0.700m) / Cody McCormick ($1.200m) / Patrick Kaleta ($1.200m) DEFENSEMEN Tyler Myers ($5.500m) / Robyn Regehr ($4.020m) Christian Ehrhoff ($4.000m) / Jordan Leopold ($3.000m) Andrej Sekera ($2.750m) / Mike Weber ($0.950m) GOALTENDERS Ryan Miller ($6.250m) / Jhonas Enroth ($0.675m) CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $61,787,856; BONUSES: $925,000 CAP SPACE (20-man roster): $2,512,144 Trade Stafford + a pick for Brown Send Ellis back to minors or keep him as an extra player to switch with Tropp Sign Dustin Penner around 2.75mil or less he's a power forward who's been cold but if we give him 2 years were not scerwed if he's a bust but at least adds a big body with Stanley Cup experience Ennis and Roy can easily be switched line wise

Don't shoot me, but I actually like Leino in the future. Yes, this season he has been awful, but based on his performance in the playoffs, we know he can be a very good player; theoretically a clutch player down the road. We all have to remember that the playoffs are a much better signal on how a player is due to the more intense playoff atmosphere. Though at times he appears sluggish, I do feel he wants to be in Buffalo, he wants to win a cup, but I see more fault lying on the fact we signed him in the wrong position along with our system is much different than Philly's for the most obvious being they actually have power forwards which then keeps players off of Leino which allows him to do his magic. Additonally I see much brightness in CoHo's future since he could be a great 1st line center because he plays both ends of the ice while being a playmaker. He makes others look better like Stafford.
