  1. Vanek was never a physical player but was certainly a tough player in that he would take beatings in front of the net and keep going back.
  2. In this case I don't think its being cheap; I think its just standard practice for the international games.
  3. Frankly I wouldn't be surprised either way.
  4. As long as he plays with a guy who makes up some of his shortcomings I couldn’t care less how he puts up points. If Thompson put up 70 goals and 30 assists would that bother you?
  5. When healthy, Tage is definitely Top 15 in terms of offense. As a whole when including defensive play, which did improve a bit last year, he's likely somewhere between 15 and 20 OA in the league. Stamkos wasn't a center in Tampa the last couple years. Last year, his specific injury greatly impacted his greatest asset in his stickhandling and shot. Imagine if McDavid lost most of his speed for a year; he'd still put up points for sure but wouldn't be the same player in the slightest.
  6. I think it’s more the idea than the actual push-ups. The idea that you’re effectively being punished like a child has a strong connection their youth hockey days. It also scales with the length of the practice. Begs to question what the team even did with Krueger at practice. Granato definitely had a more tempo and teaching style to his practices while Ruff is hammering them into a Sabre ready to wield in battle through a combo of physical activity, tempo and a nigh zero tolerance to dumb mistakes. Were they just doing the hockey equivalent to NFL walkthroughs?
  7. We just can't have nice things
  8. Well at least this random story is done
  9. definitely, d look tired Helenius was a dog on that Wahlberg goal
  10. Good 5v3 kill, then Pitt scored on a rather random play.
  11. Frankly I wouldn’t even say the first two games indicate anything when it comes to Kulich making the team. They may have him play the 2 Czech games as long as he plays well enough and then send him down once they get back to Buffalo.
  12. Kulich looks like he really wants the Sabres to take him to Czechia to play in front of his family and friends
  13. Well acquiring all 3 isn’t exactly something that happens in hockey
  14. Kadri and Weegar are interesting candidates; Andersson would likely be a bit rich for my taste based on the present roster makeup
  15. How exactly does bringing up their issues solve them? I'd rather not drive myself batty over every grievance with the team. Yes the Sabres have issues; anyone with eyes can see that. But turning every possible thread into a rant and raving thread about the evil Pegulas and KA's subservience to them is unnecessary. Endless doom & gloom is unnecessary and frankly rather depressing. I want the Sabres to make the playoffs and understand they have a myriad of issues but rather than endlessly harp on the "Why it's impossible?" can't we just ask "Why it could happen?" We can only rehash the same grievances so many times before they become a nuisance in of themselves and unless you happen to have 3 billion laying around; we can't do anything to fix many of the grievances but we can reduce the sheer level of darkness that permeates the forum.
  16. I honestly hope Byram knocks our socks off this year not only for the team's success but to end the endless Mitts talk.
  17. A portion of the team is in town, not exactly how many. We do know that many are skating however.
  18. Where are you seeing this exactly?
  19. He'd get close to max if not max; unsure where that lands next season.
  20. My guess is arguing on semantics is the way most forum posters try to deal with a tragedy.
  21. Utterly tragic, gives me serious depression since I'm about the same age as him. I hope the bastard that hit them is thrown in jail and the key is thrown away. Drunk driving is stupid enough on its own but to do so when there are 50 other options; its absurd. That's what it sounds like
  22. Hopefully eventually all the teams make one and then the NHL just wraps them altogether for easy access. To fool with lines visually To enjoy the management side of the game like a Be a GM mode in NHL games To scratch the "What-if" itch
  23. Hence why I combined Skinner with Girgs About 40g + 35a If Quinn can get 24g 22 a that means Zucker only needs 16g and 13a to even it out. Plus Zucker and Quinn are both better at defensive hockey than Skinner while less than Girgs in a sense thus better spreading the talent.
  24. While neither will truly equal Skinner's production on their own; I'd say Quinn + Zucker should be more effective generally than Skinner + Girgensons.
