I realised my comment could have provoked some kind of war, glad it didn't. Sorry to hear about that. I've known a few who've tried and my friend works in mental health so he sees a fair amount. Sorry to hear that though man, hope everything is ok now.

Then you known precious few people who have attempted suicide.
-
I took it as someone who was saying what I was: Gillis is an idiot who is trying to save his ass by scapegoating Hodgson. It's truth is redundant. Or, Apus, what he said. Lol.
-
Read that earlier, great article. No real surprise to me but hopefully it should put a lot of the complaints to rest.
-
I'm guessing sarcasm. Don't worry, you Americans will get the hang of it eventually. :P

I get the impression that asking for a trade is pretty much media hype unless your name is Heatley or Kovalev. Most reports say Luongo will waive his NMC but some do say that he is requesting a trade, dramatising it a bit.

I'm not disagreeing, if Quick keeps it up he'll be one of the best goalies to have ever played in the NHL. If. All I'm saying is that his proven as much as Miller has, except his at an earlier stage of his career. The other difference is they have a more consistent team with a higher skill level whereas Miller has to deal with subpar teams for a number of seasons. Again not saying either is better, just that judging one as a good goalie based on one Veniza worth season and some other good ones and saying the other is disappointing based on exactly the same stat is hypocrisy. Also, GAA is an awful stat, its how well the team plays defensively as well as the goalie, using it to judge a goalie is as stupid as the GM of the year award or some of Shannyban's suspensions imo.

I just read the WGR article on the front page. It amazes me that given the first opportunity quite a number of Sabre 'fans' in and out of the media will ###### all over the team. I hate football and the British culture behind it but at least they know how to support their teams. :(. EDIT: May sound harsh but I believe that it's too early to say who 'won' the deal but I believe both teams got what they needed. If they don't use Kass correctly and he doesn't develop then thats their choice. Hodgson is supposed to be a good centre with 1st line potential and despite the ridiculous amount of line swapping he did look good even if he didn't score at a PPG pace. Also have to remember he played more games and more away games than any other rookie this season, in fact I think more than any player (not sure about that though).

I'm thinking Serenity. Anyone said Miranda around Cody? Kings have been an offensive force for a while, most people said they underperformed during the season and were more dangerous than most 8th seeds. Combine that with the Sedin injury and the constant questions about Luongo plus the already unhappy fan base and the so called upset wasn't really a surprise. Question: You've said before how one good season proves nothing when talking about Miller, how can you say Quick is regarded as one of the best young goalies in the game with only one good season?
-
Lmao.
-
Your incorrect. At the time it was largely reported that the trade was made to give the Nucks some size and not just a enforcer, someone with a little potential. Someone to protect the Sedins if they faced a team like Boston. I suspect the fear of facing Boston again drove this more than any other personally but that is beside the point. Also, as LPF said, he was an expendable asset that was never going to crack the top 2 lines, well not for a while anyway. He probably wanted out and the match fitted. The decision burned because all the Nucks fans think Cody would have made all of the difference and can't live with the idea that they got beaten by a better team who played a better, more disciplined system.

You can do and say a lot of things, but do NOT pretend any Sabre fan who might be a little more optimistic is living in some kind of denial. Smarmy arrogant tosser. Yes you touched a nerve, yes you pissed me off, yes I genuinely hope you get badly hurt at some point soon and end up in the worse circle of hell for even using that analogy. People like you make the world a much worse place. While I may not agree with you all the time I do try and respect your opinion but on this occasion you crossed a line, also shows how big your balls grow when you can hide behind GoDD. I'm done now. Any idea what the Leafs thought of Connelly after 1 season with him?
-
You do make me laugh. Wait, you're being serious. Oh dear. I've been on this board long enough to have come to the conclusion that you are most definitely not a Sabres fan, I would suspect you are actually a Leafs or Pens fan or something trolling. Mancari Gragani Kassian Total those 3 and you dont get anywhere near the amount of return we had for Hodgson alone, let alone Sulzer as well. (I know Mancari was separate). Gillis's job is on the line in a big fashion so he will try every tactic, how can this not be completely obvious to everyone? This happens in British politics all the time. EDIT: Also I've just remembered the phone call during tradecenter with Hodgson, that was not the phone call of a man who wanted out of Vancouver, in fact he didn't seem to like being traded at all. Anyone who believes this ###### from Gillis is quite frankly an idiot.
-
Ok, I didn't check the numbers.
-
I just checked the stats for Grags, Kass and Hodgson. Holy smokes we did get the better end, albeit partly because of the Nucks use of Kass and Grags but still, nice.
-
Didn't Ennis massively underperform before his injury? Agree with the rest of the post, good point.
-
I'd also go for Clowe rather than Pavelski, probably fits our needs a bit better. Also what about Winnik, big guy (apparently deceptively quick but I've never seen him), might make a decent 4th liner? UFA as well. Only for a max of $1, probably just under but might be a useful addition. Our farm is not in a position to be ditching draft picks, we'll end up like Calgary.
-
Roy had one bad year, this one just gone. His was a $4mill contract for a 70 point producer.
-
Brown may be a dream but don't forget Pitts, SJS and the Nucks will be looking to change.
-
I will say this: we need a couple of game changers, players who step it up come crunch time. I believe we lost that more than anything else when we lost Briere and Drury. If we lost Hecht, Boyes, Roy, Gerbe then I think we have enough space to add a couple as well. Might give us an edge in that mental toughness we lack as well.
-
So after a massive mix up last season you'd make more changes? Thats just going to lead to another lost season waiting for people to gel. Also I do believe there is a reason certain coaches remain successful and others don't, so there is something but certain coaches work with certain players.
-
Also remember there is no evidence to say he wont come up big in the playoffs or that the 2nd season will be better. I agree with you on the veteran presence part, we could do with some older guys performing the role player function, certainly on the 4th line imho. Edit: My lines atm: Van-Hodg-Pom Foligno-Ennis-Stafford Leino-Adam-Tropp Mccormick-?-Kaleta Myers, Ehrhoff, Sekera, Regehr, Sulzer, McNabb as my top 6 with Brennan as the 7th. Anyone missing is trade bait. This was done in about 3 minutes off of the top of my head.
-
Not many, I remember most people thinking Stafford should have had a 1 year deal as he had proved little.
-
Are we counting 'loves bitching about the Sabres'? Great photo, really captures all its best features. :)

I'd trade Roy, Leopold and Weber and focus on getting a big, tough center who can PK (Gausted isn't exactly tough but he might do, I'd still prefer not him), a 3rd line center and winger who are able to chip in a few goals but have some size. Can Leino play RW or is he LW/C only?
