  1. Loving that our goalie gets run? While that night was a wake up call that doesn't mean I love it. It was a horrible moment and the fact that Lucic got away scot free really pisses me off, shows the corruption in sports, not to mention the lack of justice. Reading this thread no-one seems to be mentioning the fact that he got off without penalty from the league, like the whole thing is our fault and we deserved it? Sorry if I'm coming on a bit strong bit it just kinda pisses me off.
  2. If thats your favourite moment then I truely pity you and am ashamed to call you a Sabres fan. Great to watch some of these videos, some epic moments.
  3. It's all about the star players and your favourite club. Oh and beating the Germans, thats still a big deal. Track and field and the gymnastics tends to get the most coverage over here.
  4. Oh right, well I probably wouldn't then. ;)
  5. Boston didn't with a cup with goons, I say again. Any good on their team fulfilled another role, Lucic being a perfect example. Their whole team plays hard and physical. Anahiem did ride Giguere to an absurd degree (doesn't he still hold a couple of playoff records?) so I'm not putting that down to goons either. EDIT: Ok I see your point but Scott, McCormick, Tarnasky are all pure goons. Not including Finley or pest players. Thats not the 'right mix' by any means, surely.
  6. Excuse me! It's held in lower regard than curling at the winter olympics is here. No, I'm really not joking. In fact darts gets more coverage.
  7. Kaleta's PK abilities are needed, we lost Gausted and as good as Ott is I dont think we can afford to lose him as well. Why make a major move until the NHL know what the NHLPA think of their first proposal? Depending on the negotiations there might be a lockout, we really can't rule that out at this stage. EDIT: Also with everyone wanting long term contracts negotiations are going to take longer as well. I'm surprised Semin hasn't been picked up, seeing as he wants a 1 year deal. (Yes, I would sign him to a 1 year, incentive laden contract).
  8. I'm with you on this one, Goons will not win us championships. If Scott gets any more than 30 games I bet most of the people here that are wanting him in the lineup over Gerbe will soon change their tune. This guy can do nothing other than fight, his a complete waste of a roster spot. Great 25 years ago (or more) but less so now. How many pure goons were on Boston or LA? Everyone who was physical could perform another role. Whatever we think of Lucic his a class above a player like Scott. Having said that I'm no major fan of Gerbe either. Gerbe-Tarnasky-Tropp would be my 4th line unless Kaleta doesn't sign on, in which cas Tropp gets an upgrade to 3rd line and Ellis and Scott get to alternate.
  9. They did say early on that late in free agency is when they'll probably start picking up Veterans (eg Parrish a couple of years ago) for the AHL. I understand what you mean though.
  10. I see what you mean, I do think we'll be ok if we get better seasons from a lot of the cast (Pom excluded)
  11. I like Brennan but I have no idea what we're planning on doing with him. Trade bait? Tarnasky is an odd one, we have Pardy, Tarnasky and Scott now. What the hell are we doing with all these 4th liners? Combined with Gerbe, McCormick and Ellis I'd love to know what the 'grand plan' is. Regier does remember we need people to score, right?
  12. Agreed, that is the way I see his 'media persona'.
  13. I don't think Parise or Suters contracts are that bad, their overpaid but it could have, and I always thought was going to be, soooo much worse.
  14. Make that 3, While technically half Indian half English I've spent my entire life in the UK. Only really got into hockey due to the NHL games in the mid 90's but ended up loving the Sabres because of Hasek.
  15. Maybe with the works 'Karma, bitch' inscribed next to them.
  16. I see Sekera differently, his proven to be a solid two way defender who can log big minutes in important situations. Kinda like Leopold, except Leopold has the advantage of experience and probably easier to trade to a contender in need of a veteran defensemen (hint hint, trade Leopold lol).
  17. Dude's a legend!
  18. Great idea, I like it. But that would require players to formally announce their request of a trade,
  19. From what I read they wanted him not at his price though, they weren't willing to match the insane offer Calgary gave though. Solid player though from what I've seen.
  20. Welcome. Agree with the Hasek, as mentioned a million times by me I'm a massive Hasek fan but he was one of the top 5 goaltenders of all time, even elite doesn't seem to cut it for goalies like him, Roy or Broduer. I'd say Miller is as good as Ward, Kipper, Fleury (outside of 2012 playoffs). I'd also say your not being entirely fair about how critical Miller has been in the playoffs, when our entire team has disappeared apart from Pom/Van and Miller. Nice post though.
  21. I try and ignore the Miller fights around here but I cant help it normally.
  22. OH FOR ###### SAKE WHY DOES THIS ###### ARGUEMENT COME UP EVERY OFFSEASON?! Seriously, Miller is an above average goalietender who can play elite and has proven to keep us in more games than he losses us. Enroth is a young, inexperienced backup who should NOT be thrust into the starting job because his 'cheap'. I think Miller starting and Enroth as backup is a powerful combination, most hockey critics agree it's our best bet. The biggest problem is that almost every Sabres fan thinks unless a goalie is a good as Hasek their crap, GET SOME PERSPECTIVE. I don't know why I bother and yes I'm infuriated hence the capitals.
  23. I rethought about this, forgot Adam. I'm bored during lunch at work. Van-Hodgson-Pom Foligno-Ennis-Staff Ott-Adam/Grig-Kaleta/Tropp Gerbe-McCormick-Tropp/Kaleta Extras: Ellis, Scott. I would say though Ott takes the faceoffs then shifts back to LW during the shift. I don't like McCormick on 4th line C, but I cant think of another one so I'm not that bothered. Myers-Sekera Ehrhoff-Sulzer Regehr-Weber Brennan Call up: McNabb I would entertain offers for Sekera, but only bite if the deal is a steal. Same goes for Brennan. I like our defense and how deep it is. Tropp doesn't have the offensive capability. Your essentially just putting your top line a man down. I like Tropp but your right, we need someone with better hands if we're going to do that. I think the Ennis line works like that but Van and Pom worked so well together for large parts of last season I think sticking Hodgson in the middle might be enough, regardless of 'muscle', some of the can come from defense if Myers plays like he did for some of last season.
  24. I thought their issue was keeping the flyers from scoring, not scoring more themselves?
