  1. As long as the Coyotes are in Arizona, or there are teams looking to make the Cap floor, theres always a way to get rid of the bad contracts to stay under the Cap.....
  2. So Dell would have a pretty high number because any save made by him was usually more then what was expected?
  3. theres always trades.......
  4. Top tier teams continue to find ways to make the Cap work while staying competitive Its the lower to mid tier teams Fans that worry and make excuses to not do things because they are afraid of the Cap. Sure you may have to risk losing some of your top picks to shed some salary later on, and maybe the prospect pool is thinned out and there may be some bleak years but usually those are accepted because you have a championship or 2 compared to decades of mediocrity but a healthy cap situation.....
  5. If we lower the bar, it will make things much better and easier to accept. Atleast KA did something! And Its better then what they had last year with Dell/Tokarski!
  6. Exactly, why do any of us care that they trade for a contract so they can get closer to the salary floor so they can continue to field a bottom tier NHL team while we wait for prospects to develop and (hopefully) one day become a dynasty instead of using that money/cap space to maybe improve the team now. But atleast they will have a ton of cap room to re-sign the RFAs that maybe will have the team poised to possibly be a playoff contending team in 2025......
  7. Another Meh signing Wasn't good enough for the Leafs, but if we are honest, that might be a good thing because what do they know about defence (and goaltending?)
  8. Could have also done much better, but that would involve leaving the dumpster/blue light special area of FA..... Everyone knows KA wants to build from within only from within and doesn't want to disrupt that by signing guys to help speed up the process but maybe block some guys from coming up sooner. It is what it is, a backup caliber goalie with some upside who will fill a roster spot until some of the guys in the system are hopefully ready to take over.
  9. I think everyone understands this, just seems odd that the league allows a team to trade away a retired players rights just for the salary cap hit, and then that player can still go an take another job with a different team in the league
  10. thats who I was thinking of, went back to Philly and took a front office job
  11. According to something I saw this morning, Kane (from Buffalo), may be putting in a trade request tomorrow (Wednesday) at the start of free agency with the Rangers being the prefered spot for where he wants to go He may not even want to come to play for Buffalo
  12. ithink this happened in another similar case where a players contract was with one team, but since they were 'retired' they went to work for their old team
  13. Haven't seen anywhere saying he nixed a trade to Buffalo, I have seen that he nixed a trade to Toronto (he has a 10 team NTC) and is now wants to stay in Anaheim Also just saw that Blackwood is no longer on the trade block in NJ
  14. Pretty much, I don't think they can afford anyone else unless they move one of the forwards for a goalie to free cap space. Their front office appear to be high on Murray and believe his flaws can be fixed easily because many in their coaching staff and front office were with the Soo greyhounds in the OHL when Murray was there and know him well
  15. Not sure if Philly gives up on Hart yet, but the Devils appeared to be interested in dealing Blackwood
  16. I would say this almost guarantees them bringing him in. Anderson retired about a week or 2 before signing in Buffalo last year, they traded for a goalie who's basically retired this off-season already...
  17. How long has Detroit been in rebuild mode with top 5 picks?
  18. I said in another post, I don't think it's that there are a bunch of goalies rejecting Buffalo as much as its the Sabres not wanting whats available. Murray was more about getting to.move up in the 1st to take the cap hit from Ottawa. Otherwise they seem to want the older veteran type guy on a 1-2 year deal so they don't block the younger guys. I think it's more likely they go back to the bargain bin for someone like Holtby to compete with Anderson for a role to backup (or start in front of) UPL who will be given the chance to take the job Adam's seems to prefer the slow approach of building from within and give the prospects openings to take the jobs rather then using every option to improve
  19. I think it's a bit of both. The goalies aren't great, but the also aren't why they lose. The defence needs work but instead they would rather spend cap space to sign older forwards
  20. I agree, i always think your looking to improve what you have, I don't think there's ever been a player who's been ruined by having to play a bit longer in the minors. And if you end up with good players Blocking a prospect, you now have an asset to use in a trade.
  21. I hope so because it will end up being another goaltending flop for the Leafs. It took them less then a season to go from Campbell the hero to throwing him away.
  22. I don't think Murray was really wanted here either, it was about taking a contract back to move up. Ottawa wants to move him and his contract, Sabres have the cap space to absorb the hit, similar to Chicago's move for Mrazek. I also don't think that there's many goalies that don't want to come here and more likely the Sabres aren't interested in alot of the goalies. From. What I have heard/seen, they don't want a young guy with potential because they don't want to block UPL and the others. They would rather just fill the spot with some older veterans on short term deals that they can be out of in a year or 2.
  23. That's what I saw Basicaly the Sabres move up to 7 in a swap for 16, and take Murray off the Sens hands (with some retention)
  24. Does anyone know where we can send him gift baskets as a thank you for not coming here? It looks like the Sabres were doing g it as a favor to the Sens to move up in the draft since it looked like Murray and 7th for 1 of the Sabres 1st.
