  1. For some reason I think most of this is just a gag post...... If it isn't, you might want to get some meds......... But to weigh in, a custom paint job done by one of the pros who do them can cost a couple thousands because they have to be certified, you can't just grab some paint Nd paint one, they would no longer be certified to use by the manufacturer and league because there's a chance the paint could have weakened/damaged the mask material. (I have looked into mask painting before) Second, like all athletes, players usually have personal preferences with their equipment when it comes to fit and comfort, they also can be superstitious of they are playing well. The player would need to get a mask of their chosing to the painter, who would then have to get a design from the player and paint the mask, along with curing of the paint, this can take days to weeks depending on the design they want. Usually a player who was brought in to play in the minors, isn't going to have a custom mask made up ahead of time for the pro team if they aren't sure they are ever going to be called up, and also not knowing if they will be there long term. He isn't going to go through the expense and time to have one made if he isn't going to be in Buffalo long term. He isn't going to spend a couple of thousand dollars to get a custom mask made that may only be used once so that a fan can feel good that he is wearing a team themed mask...... As for Hasek (I have wanted to get a similar mask to wear when I play but they are tough to find outside of having a custom one made by a guy in Europe) he always had the mask color match the team (in buffalo he had a blue and a black one, in Ottawa I think he used black, and in Detroit he had red) I think the closest he came to customizing them was adding his number on the back or a team logo sticker on it. Although I seem to recall him maybe having the Ottawa and Detroit mask painted with the large team logo....
  2. A Polish Patio? Don't we have that guy on the roster too?
  3. Hopefully Hutton's family emergency is his family trying to talk him into retirememt
  4. Ralph's approach is that he may not be the best Xs & Os guy, but he is a motivator, he knows what to say to get guys motivated and play hard. The problem is that when results arent good, these guys get tuned out easily and players don't listen as much when the lockeroom is a mess. The dictator style of coach who runs his guys through walls for not doing what they are told usually have some success early on, but it doesn't last long as players don't enjoy it when things aren't going well. Many times, getting the dictator coach in there first to get the locker room right, then going to a motivator works good. Problem here is that it still seems the lockeroom is a mess and things are too easy on the players. They need the discipline to know that this is their jobs and they need to give 110% for the full game or they wont be doing this much longer. The positive motivation won't work when the discipline and work ethic isn't there.....
  5. I think it looks really bad and probably brought up because of his comments about the team the game before. If your going to comment about the effort of the team, you better not get caught looking that way at any point afterwards or else your gonna get called for it. You better be giving 120% out there or else your going to look hypocritical.
  6. Players can demand trades, happens a bunch of times
  7. One step at a time........
  8. I have a feeling they win this game. A goalie getting his first start with the team against a bad team, this one to me looks like the Sabres win by a few
  9. Clifford gives them playoff experience, but is that really an issue for them? Their 2 biggest problems are defence and goaltending. They picked up a backup goalie who is better then the guy they currently have (that's not saying much though) so it's hard to say if this is such a great deal although they didn't spend much to do it, and if they sound Hutch down, it's a wash cap wise....
  10. DeBrincat can come too......
  11. But aren't they doing it wrong? Shouldn't they be waiting for the market to set itself and evaluate every possible option first before making a move? Campbell is an upgrade over Hutch, but there are very few who aren't right now, but how much of an upgrade I don't know
  12. Kadri seems like the kind of guy that you get a smile on your face watching him get beaten down, knowing that he probably did something to deserve it.
  13. Because he probably wouldn't make it past goal #1 before getting hurt again.....
  14. Are the numbers in the poll the amount of years? Cause at their rate, 23+ years could be a good bet.......
  15. I don't know looking at the list though, I think it is a lack of true #1 guys now. There haven't been alot of young guys coming up that can handle the workload.
  16. Seeing as how they have played a little more then half the season, as of right now out of the 81 goalies who have played a game in the NHL this year, 3 goalies has played 40+ games (Anderson in TO, Price and Helleybuck), 18 have played 30+ games. I would say that atleast 10+ of these players, barring injuries will play close to 60 games. It happens alot when a team has someone entrenched in the starter position, the backup usually gets 15-20 games. But because of a lack of guys good enough to have the full time starter role, many teams are running tandems now with 2 good goalies instead of one really good one and one ok one.
  17. That's exactly what I thought when I was reading it, Marty was here before Miller, it's why Milllers still playing and Marty's been on the radio for the last few years....
  18. Losing to Boston in Round 1? I thought that was the Leafs job?
  19. To be fair (and I'm a huge Hasek fan), but he is more of the outlier/fluke then a possibility. I hate making this comparison as its very insulting, but he is the Tom Brady of the NHL, he came in the league as a nobody and left as a GOAT. Maybe I'll mark gets better and can be a starter, and maybe Johanson surprises and shows he can be a starter too. UPL has already shown at pretty much every level he has played at that he will be a starter, and possibly a very good one. I don't expect him to be Hasek, but I think it may be reasonable for him to be atleast at the Miller level for the Sabres.....
  20. And what's been the results from having those top 3? Looking to add someone to make it a top 4? I guess it worked so well for Edmonton........
  21. RNH fought, Kassian swung his arm around throwing punches while Tkachuk dropped and turtled......
  22. Its kinda cool how well that works, if you start picking random ages it gets you closer the younger you are. And when you get to underage its either within a year or 2 or someone a couple years older Like if your 26, no one younger then 20 18, no one younger then 16 If your 12, no one younger then 13, younger then that and it doesn't really work though.........
  23. Buffalo fans (Bills and Sabres) love obsessing with the prospects and players with potential. It's all about what a player could become so you can't risk losing them. People know what BOGO is, he is not likely to change. Gilmore was something new that could potentially be something that people didn't want to risk losing out on. At one time McCabe was a player fans didn't want to lose, now he is being thrown around as trade bait.
  24. Balsillie could have had a team no problem if he didn't continually push to relocate it to Hamilton. Every time a team was available he would make an offer, and the league was fine on the condition it stays put, then he would say he doesn't intend to move it, then hold a season ticket sales rally in Hamilton for the team. He thought he could bully the NHL into getting a team Nd relocating them to either Hamilton or Kitchener/Waterloo area (where RIM was located). This was at the time he was a big deal because of Blackberry and thought he could do whatever he wanted, then blackberry crumbled (he reminds me of Elon Musk). I used to only have blackberry phones until they screwed everyone over by just abandoning the Playbook tablets they had just released........ Hammister was the big competition to get the team vs TG IIRC, the problem with his purchase was that he needed government money to do it. It seemed like they were ready to give him the team until he couldn't get the government money so they sold to TG instead. From my understanding Hammisters money was made through seniors facilities his family owned Nd operated. I remember looking him up to see what he did. He has some nice vacation property on the other side of lake Erie in a private section of Fort Erie. He has his own house and another one next door for his kids that are right on the shore. I got to see his office where he has alot of destroyers and other memorabilia from when he was an owner.
  25. She had many years as one of the top female tennis players, I don't think she really needs a 'sugar daddy' for that stuff.
