  1. Great, you just ruined Detroits plan of trading players they don't have the rights too. Or they think so low of Okposo (or Pilut) that they wouldn't even give up any of their own players to get them......
  2. I think they should use Spezza and Thorton on their top line so they can move Matthews and Marner down to develop more, don't want to ruin them by rushing their development. Ten years ago, signing Spezza and Thorton would have been huge......
  3. Wasn't it official that he signed? $700k for one year? I forgot they also re-signed Spezza too.
  4. I just don't know if they are worth it though? They are all in their 30's
  5. Im only not buying it cause I don't know where else they can get the cap relief from? Unless Bettman went with them to one of the tables and they were allowed to use the winnings as cap space, I don't know?
  6. I think it was always going to cost more then what the fans would want to see them spend because Columbus doesn't have to trade either of them and they are on decent salary. They can wait til the deadline or the end of the season to deal one away if they feel they would lose one in the expansion draft and want an asset for them. Its always been known this move was to cash in on an asset at its highest. This isn't Vegas having to move MAF because they need the Cap space, in that situation they could probably get him for a low pick as long as they take on his full contract.
  7. He was playing for a contract last year too.....
  8. Reading comments on the signing on the sports site, that actually looks correct, seemed like no one was expecting this
  9. Where else could he go that would be worse then all the teams he has played for already? Outside of the Rangers who got the #1 overall pick because of luck (or conspiracy theory...) he has played for all the teams that have been competing for #1 overall over the last decade basically....... Edmonton, NJ, Phoenix, now Buffalo...... Actual cap no, but internal cap maybe.....
  10. I think he only felt shock because it wasn't expected, he intended to stay in Minny to end his career and I don't believe they informed him he was going to definitely be moved
  11. Wonder if the Blue jackets want him for a goalie?
  12. I wouldn't get too excited, its only a 1 year deal, he didn't convince him to spend the rest of his career here He is getting $8 mil to play one year for a coach who he played well for before and will be a FA again next year.
  13. Give it more then a year, many players don't live up to a big deal after the first year (usually they have a down one but a bounce back one after.
  14. Not if theres an internal cap.....
  15. I would deal Reinhart for another **all name for that line just because.....
  16. When I first saw this I thought they brought in another former coach from Edmonton.....
  17. You didn't have to include 'on wraparounds'.......
  18. Another ex sabre prospect going to Chicago.
  19. But if the only reason for trading the goalie is to get something for them before the expansion draft, they could always hold onto them until the trade deadline, or trade them before the draft, they don't have to make the move now if they don't get what they want. There were other goalies that would make sense for the Sabres that were available , Its not like Ullmark has proven he can be a #1 goalie on his own and him being a 1B of a tandem isn't a bad thing.
  20. Fleury is the only one who wont cost an arm and a leg to acquire because Vegas wants to get rid of his contract, but he will cost an arm and a leg financially because of his salary Columbus and Arizona goalies will cost an arm and a leg to acquire (but not financially) because those teams are only looking to move a young goalie because they want to cash in and sell high on those assets. The won't move them if they don't get what they are asking for them.
  21. Sure, but now they have to give up assets to get one, not just cash. And the team they are talking to about a goalie is only looking to move one of them to maximise their trade value. Columbus isn't going to take garbage back for one of their goalies, they are only on the trade block because they can afford to trade one for a big return.
  22. The Leafs and media here are really pumping him up as a big signing for them by adding toughness to their lineup. Sound like this was what he wanted anyway and wasn't going to re-sign here because he wanted to play at home in Toronto.
  23. Tanking for next years #1?
  24. I think its because with the current cap crunch and no increase, teams don't have as much cap room to just take the bad contract so they want a sweetner if they are going to do a favour for them. plus theres the whole "don't want to be viewed as a bad guy' trying to steal someone with an offer sheet (which is also going to involve giving up picks after the player agrees to sign a deal with you)
  25. So thats 4 in how many years? How well did Frolic work out? Okposo signed one of the biggest contracts at the time to come here I believe And Hutton was exactly a player in high demand at the time considering he only had 1-2 good years in his career where he played more then half a season They are definietely looking for someone to tandem with Linus, not just a backup goalie
