  1. I heard they called him up and begged and he just laughed and said he would rather stay out of the league then hung up......
  2. Anderson can be real good, Leafs typically kill him by trying to get him to play 90% of the season. He could be very good as a 1a of a tandem with Ullmark. Let him play 50-60%of the games with Ullmark handling the rest and it's a huge upgrade
  3. That doesn't mean he wasn't 'in play', just that they didn't have a deal they were willing to accept to move him.
  4. Sooooo Close..........
  5. Except that in one case, the team retaining 25% didn't give up anything but the retention for getting a pick from the team getting the player. (I think it was the deal where Detroit retained some cap space for another team. (The skinner part was just an example, I know it would take more and would be for more then just one year)
  6. its more likely that is just shows the other GMs and the rest of the league that he is in over his head and doesn't know what he is doing (and over values what he has). If Hall had more term on his deal, or the Sabres were a borderline playoff team, then it could be argued he shouldn't just deal him for whatever is the best he can get. But with them all but locking up the worst record in the league, and Hall becoming a UFA at the end of the season, holding onto him does nothing good for the franchise.
  7. I think he literally just re-signed as you posted this This team has enough Youth/youngsters, they need to sign veterans who will make a difference and a coach (and maybe GM) that can get the best out of what they have. They need to get the right coach, and be searching in the high end of the FA Pool, not the bargain bins to fill up the bottom of the roster. The problem with this team (besides bad inexperience bad coaches) is they don't have many high end difference makers. They made the right moves this offseason (in theory) by going after veteran leadership (Staal) and a high end offensive player (Hall). Unfortunately Staal seemed to be past his prime and not interested in being here, while Hall seems to be the kind of player who is going to put in the work to carry a team and make them better. Just handing over the team and the top spots to the youngsters hoping they just develop into the roles almost never works out. They need to have to battle and beat out guys infront of them to earn their spots
  8. I don't agree with being able to do this, adding a 3rd team to a deal for the sole purpose of taking on cap hit for other teams. (Although I guess this year that might be the only way for deals to get done because all the buyers are pretty much right up against the cap) If this is legal, why could a team like Buffalo just shop picks to teams with space for a players cap hit? Why couldn't they call a team like SJ and offer them a 5th for 1/3 of Skinners cap hit this year?
  9. Nobody on this team should be untouchable for the right price. Its not like this team has been successful with any of them. Thats not saying players should just be given away though
  10. It also should be noted for those using Foligno as a comparison, the Leafs gave up more because they needed a 3rd team involved to just take on more salary because they could afford to take him for just 50% retention.
  11. Hall was only on a 1 year deal so that money was freed up in a few weeks anyways
  12. How is he a liability? Doesn't he also have one more goal then Hall does this year?
  13. I think the issue/concern is that by retaining salary (which everyone assumed they would be doing anyways) the return was going to be that much greater, but seeing Halls production this year, this probably was an upgrade to any original offer they would have gotten otherwise and the only thing making him tradeable. this was always going to be an underwhelming deal and more of a 'get an asset for something your gonna lose in the offseason'.
  14. And yet Hall came here because of RK who knew him well from their time together in Edmonton Hall is living off his name being a former 1st overall and having one really good season in NJ a couple years ago. He was horrible here and did nothing to help make this a better team. He might be better if he can play a lower role and be a 2nd/3rd liner where he isn't expected to have to carry a team. This is the 4th team to basically give up on him and move on Saying that, he will probably come out to the public now talking about how greatful he is to get to go to a contender like Boston and actually play well, probably get a few hat tricks against Buffalo just because
  15. I question more why are they playing Ullmark tonight with the Caps tomorrow? Unless they don't have faith in him beating the Caps either and figure they might as well give him the easier game, or they figure they will just let Ullmark play out the rest of the year because of how much time hes missed
  16. Do the same so we can watch Sabres games here without Centre ice...... I used to be able to see the arena while driving in Areas of Fort Erie when I worked there, but you can't get MSG here so you need to pa the NHL to get their games. What I don't get about this though, is they are going to relocate the Bisons from their home field so the jays can play there, why not just keep playing from Dunedin then?
  17. Not unless the Sabres are willing to take back some contracts because theres not likely to be a team with enough cap space to pick up a package of players including Hall for just Prospects and picks
  18. So showing some GMs that you have Balls is more important then getting some sort of asset that can be used to help the franchise? If Adams is more interested in winning a pissing contest then improving the team, he should be fired because he isn't doing whats best for the franchise No ones saying he should just take what ever the first offer he gets is or not negotiate for the best deal, but if they shouldn't hold onto Hall past the deadline just to 'send a message'. Something is better then nothing. A third can always be used as part of another deal, or packaged with other picks to move up in the draft or acquire someone else. Theres just as much of a chance that Adam's (and the Sabres front Office) 'image' will suffer by holding onto Hall just as much because they they weren't willing to move a player to give them a chance on a better team because you want to prove something to the other GMs. Players and agents could decide your not a place they want to play for because the GM & front offices image is more important
  19. I think the original comment was about signing hall in the first place. Terry agrees to the Hall signing because of the idea that he is going to produce and elevate the team, he has a year similar to his season in NJ and its money well spent. With Halls production this year, I'm sure Terry is now wishing he could rid himself of the $57,000/day cost however they can.
  20. Yup, never have any left over money in your budget at the end of the year or you won't get as much next year. And never go into contract negotiations without demands because otherwise you will start losing stuff you already have.
  21. I don't think its even comparable, they are talking almost the entire team, coaches and families of the Canucks have been hit. Its BAD right now for them Right now its 16+ in the hardest hit areas in the GTA, everywhere else they just opened it up to 50 or 60+ Next week most areas are going to start vaccinating the teachers and support staff while the schools are on break for the week
  22. So your willing to give him away at the end of a season (when his deal is up) that would take a historic run to get out of the leagues basement rather then get whatever the best offer is someone else is willing to give you? This season is over and they are only playing for pride at this point (if they have any left). That thinking is understandable for someone like Eichel or Reinhart who are good players with term left on their deals, you don't want to just give them away. But someone like Hall, on a one year deal is worth nothing to the team this year after the deadline and getting anything (even a lower pick) is better because it frees space for someone else as a tryout for the rest of the year.
  23. His cap hit would be prorated based on how much of the season is left so it wouldn't be as big of a difference Wouldn't the sabres Cap hit only be based off of what he is still owed on his contract and not the cap hit the Flyers are hit with because theirs would be based off of the total value with bonuses and incentives. I thought if he gets claimed, that team would be hit with only what is owed on his deal and the rest would be 'Dead Cap Space' the Flyers would be responsible for?
