Only the trade was for a player breaking over a million, but that wasn't a signing and they did get NJ to include(keep) $1 million in that deal

Well who is the 1C that they are trading Eichel for again? Because it seems like all the ones being proposed from the Rangers, Kings, Wild, Ducks, etc. are all being told are off limits in a deal or if they were available a deal might have been done already. And since Eichel, a #2 overall pick that we were all being told was such a great consolation prize for not getting McDavid, didn't move the needle here in getting this team near the playoffs for his career, Other teams will just be lining up to give someone who could fill that role here -

Well if there is one thing this team is good at, it lowering the fans expectations and proving that it can always be worse. I can picture it now, 3 years from now, Kenny the intern (today) is named GM after KA's rebuild fails, Andrew Peters is named Head Coach and the front office is working on a deal to move Dhalin and Powers and the fans were wishing the team could get back to atleast the days when Hutton was the starting goaltender...... -
Most here have been saying he won't sit out and needs to play to establish full value, and I'm not sure sending him home to sit out is going to help get better value for him (and TP will be happy paying him to sit). I can't see a team right now meeting the price KA has set for him, the league does not seem to value him like the Sabres organization and fans do and other teams know he wants out and the Sabres will eventually have to move him, so they are calling KAs bluff and waiting for him to blink. It seems most teams are looking at Eichel as more of a luxury, it would be nice to have him and they aren't opposed to bring him in, but not unless they are getting a deal for him and this could be because he has no playoff experience, he hasn't shown that he is a foundation/cornerstone piece thats carrying a team (this team has bee mediocre at best with him on it and the team hasn't looked that much worse without him in the lineup) and he isn't winning any individual awards
-
Sorry, it was mentioned earlier I believe about them being the best team from Canada, nothing to do with divisions.
-
No, it meant he felt 3 years was long enough to not 'block one of the youth' from getting a spot. Or he is just a really nice guy and wanted to make sure his replacement wasn't locked in to Ullmark when they take over

Did they check him for Cataracts? Glaucoma? Maybe he need built in Bi-focals in his mask? -

Its OK, he can go and do those activities with the other teams players after games and bond with them instead -
Its a couple of trade proposals and how they would fit under the Cap and what the lineup would look like I think his comment is just that the team should be doing everything, including threatening the Ducks GM in order to get Zegras from them.
-
I think Jack is going to be dealt too, but all I keep hearing and seeing around here is how they are just going to keep him if they don't get what they are asking for right now, and the GM has come out and said he is fine with him being on the roster when the season starts. But as of right now, and the odds continue to get better that he will still be here in October, Eichel is still here and still the Captain unless KA is willing to accept much less then he is asking for. If you want to build a competitive team, theres no better way then to have them working together, and not individually with other teams (that are working together as teams). It would be really nice to see the Captain of this team organizing get togethers with his teammates and skating/training with them.

But getting a proven, or atleast a likely franchise goalie in a trade will help more then a potential 1C which can be found in the draft next year when there is a very good chance they are picking top 5. They aren't getting a replacement 1C in an Eichel deal unless its a prospect with the potential to eventually be one which again, they can get in the draft next year and not really be set back much in development. Its much harder to get a good starting goalie in the draft and takes longer for them to develop. Teams need solid goaltending to succeed and it will be much more beneficial to the development of the roster to have someone solid in place then to have a mediocre goalie in place with a 1C -
Right now he is still here and still the Captain And all I have been hearing since the draft was how they aren't getting the offers they need for him so he will be here (KA even said he is fine with having him here in training camp and on the roster this season) I know they have been trying to move him, but it seems like unless they give him away, he will be here in October.

I would rather he be skating with his captain in Buffalo, but Casey is NOT THE TEAM CAPTAIN I'm sure the younger players are looking up to Eichel and thinking its nice to see him skating with another team in the offseason. Again, my issue is WHY IS EICHEL, THE CAPTAIN, NOT DOING THIS IN BUFFALO WITH HIS TEAMMATES? Or is Buffalo the only City where players don't come back to or stay in during the offseason? The Sabres are trying a new approach I guess of team building by having their players skate with other teams, maybe to learn what its like on competent franchises to come back and let the Sabres front Office know how it works?

Wasn't that what was being listed as a possible top line if the season started tomorrow? -
I understand that not every player lives in the city year round, but it doesn't seem to be an issue for the bruins to have a chunk of their team together in Boston to do this It would just be nice to have a Captain of this team holding scrimages and practices with teammates of his team here in Buffalo, even if it involves him coning back into town for a few weeks during the summer, or flying some of his teammates out to where he is to do this. Instead, our captain is off skating with a group of players from another team thats able to get together during the summer months.

Look at how much money was donated to Andy Daltons charity for a pass made in a Bills game to allow them into the playoffs to break the drought?
-
That was also a time when the standards where much higher. It was unacceptable to not make the playoffs or get knocked out in the first round right now parades would be held and statues built if they just make the playoffs They also had veterans on the roster to help bring the young players along, players that had played years in the minors and were ready to make the jump into lower roles on the main roster. Now they are selling off the young(ish) talent and just expecting youth to come in and take the place on the roster with a few underwhelming veterans putting alot of pressure on the bigger name youth who are going to be expected/counted on by the fans and media to step it up and carry the team as they develop
-
Yeah, but it still would be nice for the team Captain of the sabres to do this rather then with another team....

Its sad/funny because he probably has a better chance of being the starter in the NHL then he does in the AHL (Assuming UPL is the AHL starter this year) -
They could end up the best Canadian team next year, but thats not saying much compared to the rest of the league. Toronto will be the closest competition for them and I wouldn't say Toronto has gotten better, but I also don't think they really got any worse. Montreal would be next and they could come crashing back to earth next year. They were just good enough to make the playoffs in an expanded format and got hot at the right time in them. I don't know if that happens again and it pretty much relies on if Price can play like he did in the playoffs during the season. Edmonton is still Edmonton, and Calgary, Ottawa and Vancouver are still teams that are hovering around middle of the pact with Ottawa finishing a rebuild and the other 2 retooling again.

Sabres sign Goalie Craig Anderson to One Year 750k Deal
apuszczalowski replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I never said they screwed up by not signing, I was just saying that if they were going to talk a goalie out of retirement, why not the last good goalie the team had here who just retired at the end of the season. and yeah, I'm aware that the border is still closed, but its not stopping actors from being here to film (the cast of the netflix hit 'The Umbrella academy' are filiming in Hamilton and were at Canadas Wonderland today in Toronto. Also the Canadian border is allowing sports teams to travel accross the border to play with the Jays having their true 'Home Opener' on Friday against the Royals. -

Would TP have money in the budget to get some black paint (or even some black tape) to turn the 00's into 8's? -
I'm not going to defend Adams or the front office, but from whats being said, Ullmark was considering staying and esigning, but he was not ruling out leaving if given a better opportunity. He negotiated with the team and had an offer from them today. It sounds like he was ready to sign but he (or his agent or both) decided to check with other teams that were interested and see if they would match or exceed Buffalos offer and the Bruins were willing to do it. So he chose to move on. Unless Adams had the signed offer sitting on his desk to be forwarded to the league office, he can't just assume Ullmark is going to be back, he has to be out working on deals for others with the hope that Ullmark does accept it. It almost seems like Adams only interest was in bringing back Ullmark or going with whatever was left on the market to compete with the youth on the roster. It seems like they weren't interested in chasing after any of the other goalies available and figured it was Ullmark or scraps to just get through the season until one of the younger guys is ready.

As fans, we all want that, unfortunately it seems ownership and the front office believe this is the way to get better. That you have to hit rock bottom first before you can try to improve. Instead of bringing ladders to get themselves out of the hole they are in, they think its best to bring in an excavator and dynamite to get themselves out. Its funny because when TP came here, teh team was a middle of the pact team that could fluctuate between possibly going deep into the playoffs or just missing out and fans were sick of 'just making the playoffs' they assumed you just need to get bad to rebuild yourself into a dynasty. This is now the third time the teams has been 'rebuilding' and they still cant dig themselves out of a hole and fans would look at being a playoff contender as being a good goal to be at.
