it all depends on what they have to give up to get one of them. If the Ducks would trade for Myers straight up, theres cap room to cover the new player. As for fitting the others in a deal, with the buyouts permitted this offseason, it shouldn't be hard to sign all 3. If the Flyers, Rangers and Bruins can continue to have cap space for the big name stars, how can the Sabres have trouble signing Miller, vanek and Pomminstein?

Are you not a moderator whos job it is to enforce the rules and do something about it?I wouldn't call it trolling because I don't think he is doing anything to get a rise out of people, very few here disagree with him (you and someone else just brought it up because he was doing it over and over again). I would call it crusading by constantly bringing it up, and also because I believe theres a rule against that ;) -
All he wrote was what most here are crusading onabout here, except that it gets published in a news paper. The problem is that today, in almost all lines of work it seems, the most important part of your job is selling a product. Go to a bank and its all about trying to get you a mortgage or another credit card, Car dealers have always tried to get you to buy the warranties and upgrades, electronic stores always try and get you to buy the extended warranty or other additional packages to your new TV/computer. Well now even the news is all about trying to get you to buy their paper more then just trying to get out acurate news and facts. He is a hack who is in a dying industry where almost anyone with a computer can do his job, and most likely do it better. He is just writing what most are saying and what they want to hear.

exactly, so if he isn't being paid, money isn't being moved, just the cap hit

I wouldn't say that, but definitly a Crusader BS, Miller takes just as much, if not more critiscm from everyone around here then Enroth did. If anything Enroth gets more slack because he had that one good run. Everyone always has an excuse for his play (He doesn't get enough playing time, the team isn't scoring enough goals when he plays, etc) -
You keep the 3 of them and trim the some of the dead weight this offseason with the use of the buyouts that are available Losing any of those 3 will be a huge step back for this team because they currently don't have a replacement for any of them. If I had to pick one that I think the Sabres would have an easier time replacing, i would say its Pomminstein. I think its much easier to find a reasonably priced replacement for him compared to Vanek, or a goaltender.

Buffalo News: Darcy on possible changes: 'It won't be the coach'
apuszczalowski replied to Two or less's topic in Archive
My only issue on his comment is that its apparent that something needs to be done to shake up this roster if you want some kind of results this season, so you would expect that his comment of how it won't be the coach means he has another move that will get done (i.e. a trade), but knowing Darcy, thats most likely not the case, it just means that he will continue to sit on his hands, tell us the trade market is soft and nothings available right now to help and wait for the team to fix itself -
Pegula lobbied lawmakers at HSBC Arena on fracking in NYS
apuszczalowski replied to PASabreFan's topic in Archive
I have thought there were other motives for TP buying the team, and when it was said what business he was in, it never surprised me that he was running around doing all this "good will" to the Sabres and their fans (Locker room upgrade, arena upgrades, saying he would spare no expense to get this area a cup) all because he was just a rich hockey fan. It does seem fish and it wouldn't shock me one bit if he tried to use all this good will as a way to get in and use it to make business deals and allow hydrofracking (something that without the good will hes done so far most people would protest and be against). Everyone looks at what he is proposing to do with the property accross from the arena and talks only about the good it will bring to the community and how generous TP is for doing this, yet they forget about how that development will also bring him money and help his assets around here also. He is a business man who didn't get rich by foolishly throwing his money around...... -
Not even money is being moved, Its just the Salary cap hit thats being moved IIRC
-
I would disagree that the Leafs would laugh this trade off Kessel is young but it appears he has already peaked. He puts up 30+ goals, but does not play physical and does not seem like the guy who can carry a team as its top player. I would definitly say he is a less physical version of Vanek. Myers is a few years younger and has been underachieving ever since his first year here. He has the potential to be much better, but has yet to reach it and peak. For the Leafs, a team looking more to its future rather then the present, I think they would make this deal thinking they could be getting a steal if Myers reaches his potential. The Leafs are looking to move Kessel if the rumors are true.

I don't know if the league would approve a trade for a player thats playing thats the compensation going the other way is completly conditional upon a player re-signing. Usually those deals are that the islanders would send a 7th round pick for him that could become a 5th if he re-signs (or something like that) If Thomas was playing and collecting an actual salary this season, then yes it wouldn't be as much of an issue if it looked like a fair deal. This move is nothing more then an exchange of Salary cap, where one team that needs room gets to unload a dead cap hit on their books to a team thats trying to run below the league minimum. Its a cellar dweller bailing out an already strong team so the cellar dwelling can continue to collect their welfare from the league.....

Yeah, theirs an order for taking things seriously around here1. Your own opinion 2. Players comments that if you stretch them hard enough and (read between the lines to what you believe their intentions where) make it sound like what you believe 3. Opinions of respected NHL "experts" that match your opinions 4. Opinions of hated writers whos opinion agreed with your opinions 5. Callers into WGR whos opinions match your opinion 6. Schoop and The Bulldog from WGR when they say somtheing you agree with -

Its because Ruffs system won't allow them too ;) -
I only consider it because you never know with Thomas and it is a possibility. But if he doesn't come back and play, and no pick changes hands the deal should be considered null and void by the NHL and the Islanders should be hit with a punishment for not reaching the salary floor. This is just 2 teams agreeing to help each other circumvent the cap rules under the disguise of a trade. Gillis did say about a month ago that there was a surprise team that no one woudl guess thats interested, but they wanted the Canucks to take on someone they wouldn't useIt comes out this week that Schneiders agent is pissed his client isnt getting more starts and its a distraction that needs to be resolved............ I know it doesn't effect anything about the Islanders ability to sign/not sign, but what it does is it lets them get around a rule that was put in place to level the playing field and keep owners from being able to cheapen out on the on ice product while they collect welfare from the league. The biggest advantage goes to the bruins who know have an additional $5 mil under the cap to play with and try to make them even better AND, the slight possibility they could get a 2nd round pick in addition to it. With Kovalchucks deal, either way, the Devils will account for his contract under the cap, weither its all in the first few years or over the term, its a bonus now, but a burden at the end where they are probably going to be able to get out of it when a team like the Islanders will offer them something to buy his cap hit so they can continue to collect the NHL Welfare

If you enjoy Hockey and a successful Sabres team, Sure. If you wanted more fuel to continue throwing tantrums about getting Ruff fired, or "bottoming out for a #1 pick" then NoIt was one win, it wasn't pretty, there were plenty of highs and lows, but at the end they battled back and won it instead of losing like they had been. Montreal opend the scoring with a really nice goal that was shot in and just caught the inside of the opposite post and went in (its one you should check out) 15 seconds later Ott tied it for Buffalo Montreal scores again later, Ennis ties it up 30 seconds later Montreal comes back a little bit after on a 5-3 power play and scores on a shot by PK Montreal then scores to open the 3rd on a break away that hit miller, bounce up into the air over him and fell behind him and into the net. Buffalo goes on the power play with about 5:00 minutes left and Vanek scores With about 17 seconds left in the game, and Buffalos net empty, montreal gets the puck out to centre ice, Buffalo brings it back in, theres a huge scramble in the net where Otts in the crease and ends up pushing Budaj into the net, then Vaneks down and with what looked like a nice pool shot he pushed the puck through Budajs legs with about a second left on the clock. OT solved nothing and Vanek & Pomminstein scored in the shootout, Galchenyuk scored for Montreal on their first shot -

I don't know, I thought Vanek played much better when the rink emptyed out when they were down 4-2......As for the negativity, its what Buffalo fans are all about, wallowing in their own misery! The team, for the second time this short season on a thursday night, have come back frombeing down by more then a goal to win a game against a very good team. Instead all we have to hear about is how "They haven't shown/proven anything yet", "The other team was tired cause they played the night before", "They didn't play all their best players (Price)". Well, to show/prove anything, you have to start somewhere and this win is a start. The Sabres have played back to back before too, all teams are doing this and the sabres only had one day off, its not like they were off for 3-4 days between. So I guess the Sens and first Canes loss shouldn't be viewed by those teams as anything special cause they didn't face our best player, they played against the Sabres Backup. -
Exactly, Its deals like this that piss me off because its just a rich team getting richer, and a doormat team helping out one of the big boys. The Islanders basically give the bruins a draft pick they will probably never see, so they can get a salary cap hit (no salary is paid out to Thomas this year if he doesn't play, but cap hits still there cause hes over 35) to put them over the floor without having to actually pay out any cash. The bruins get $5 mil in salary cap relief that they can now go spend AND theres a chance they could get a 2nd round pick if Thomas decides he doesn't want time off anymore. The only winners in this deal is the cheap Islanders ownership, and the bruins

You can whine about how this keeps the Sabres from realising that they aren't good and Ruff & Miller are not the answer. -
