He is a good #5-6 defencemen in the NHL. He isn't flashy, won't be a superstar and may make the odd mistake, but otherwise he is nothing to really complain about. Similar to Ellis as a 4th liner. He isn't flashy and also won't be a superstar (hes becoming a whipping boy cause most expect Crosby performances from all lines), but he is a good depth forward player who goes out and does his job on the 4th line/fill in player.

Are you serious?Paul Hamilton was destroying Enroth during the first intermission for his performance in the first period of that game calling the one goal inexcusable for an NHL goaltender. Robi the next day was saying Enroth needs to be waived and sent back down to Rochester because he just isn't that good. One of them also made the comment that hopefully people give the next guy more then 17 games before we start calling him the next great thing and we can now trade Miller Miller is getting hung out to dry just as much and theres always a group here ready to blame him and run him out of town...........

You can compile a huge list of goalies who have come into the league and looked great for the first little while then fizzled out. That guy could end up just like the rest of them, or maybe he could be different, from what some have said in teh TSN article, he has put up alot of good stats during his career in sweeden.

Are you trying to say that a guy being paid as (and expected to be) a franchise Defencemen should be making guys around him better, not needing someone else to make him better?

The problem is they need some fresh new talent to come in here. If Myers can only play well with Tallinder, see if the Devils want him cause theres a serious problem with him and he is not a franchise player then. Elliot Freedman said in something he wrote that teams have seen the Sabres as a possible trade partner for defence because they have 8, and when asked GMs about it, they said Darcy told them to give him a reason to trade one of them (i.e. blow me away with an offer so I don't lose the trade) As for Myers, with his contract alone teams aren't going to give you anything big unless you take back a bad contract. Any team taking him is goign to do it with teh hope that they can turn him around and are doing it at the risk that maybe he just isn't as good as everyone hoped.

Scouts go to games all the time, especially when teams struggle and they think they can pounce on a team ready for a firesale But with Regier as the GM, and never willing to make a trade that does not have him declared a genius or the winner, I doubt a significant trade happens, unless you think Weber for a pick is significant....

But those players are different, they are playing on superior teams with good coaching. If he played on any of those other teams he would be surpassing Crosby right now!

But thats the job of a backup goaltender, you don't get to play every night, only when needed or the starter is given the night off for a rest. You don't hear of a problem in Jersey with Brodeurs backup who gets 10-15 games if Brodeur stays healthy maybe he just isn't that great of an NHL goalie, and like many in the league, came in and got lucky living off the fact they had a hot streak at one point to start their career. Nah, its gotta be that he is an all star that Ruffs screwed up by not giving him 30+ starts a year to keep him fresh.........

Showing his points and all is fine, but theres alot more to playing defence then scoring and getting assists. Take away the points and how is he doing at actually playing defence? Using offensive stats to value a defencemen is like using batting average to evaluate a pitcher in baseball

Thats what gets you in trouble with a salary cap, paying players for their potential, not for what they have actually done.Myers has done nothing to deserve that kind of money right now, his play has been getting worse every year, not better, yet we all hoe he is going to be the next Chara and use that to justify his salary.

That happened to me last week, had dinner with friends at their place the night of the bruins game and they only had basic cable and no Centre Ice. I didn't check the score at all til we were heading back home cause I figured it was going to be a loss. Tonight I can't watch the full game (only 7 til 8) before I head out to go play some pickup hockey, I'm guessing horrible 1st period then incredible blow out finish which will lead me to cancel anything that will allow me to watch anymore games this year. I was at the Toronto OT game, I watched Saturdays games til after Vanek scored, and came back home to catch from the end of the second period on against the Panthers.........

The point is, Semin is still a very good player who can be lazy at times, AND they picked up the second best Staal brother to go with the best Staal Brother. That more then makes up for the loss of Sutter. Sutter has one season with 40 points in his career, Semin has not had a season with less then 42 points since his rookie season
