I have heard the rumors too that they are shopping Kessel now that Burkes gone. They feel he is not a player who can be the focal point/leader of a team like Burke thought so they are looking to see what they can get for him. you can't use those stats to make your point, you have to only cherry pick the ones that prove what you want to prove and say those are the ones that matter.

I questioned the non goaltender interference call because Ott did touch Budaj which caused him to get pushed into teh net, and they have been really ###### about goalies being touched this year. I don't think that Ott prevented him from making the save though and i don't think that he had possession of it. Otts push also didn't put the puck into the net, Vaneks many whacks at the loose puck knocked it in Look at the pictures from any game back then, people used to get dressed up to go out in public (or fly in a plane ;) ) -

Same hereAlso the same as the people who can afford lower bowl Leafs games, the business crowd thats there to broker new business deals, not because they want to watch hockey true, feels nice to be on the other side of those calls for once though..... Unlike you? Exactly, you don't pay money to go watch a church service, theres a reason why stadium seating is tiered and church pews sit on the flat ground. -
Its a one time thing because of the large drop in the cap, its use it or lose it IIRCI don't think it guarantees Leino is gone though. I don't think they view him as bad as the fans do, and I still think they feel he is deserving of his deal. If he played this year like he did last, then I think he would be bought out
-
Its done where the player is given the chance to sign with a team prior to joing them (Like what happend with Ehrhoff to the Islanders and then Buffalo when he was becoming a FA. The player is given a brief period where they can sign a new deal with the team and if they get something done a pick is given up. I don't know if its ever happened where a team traded a player to another team, allowed them to play for that team, and just made the compensation of the trade conditional upon that player being re-signed after the season

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=415537Its part of his TSN "C'Mon Ref" Article he does Says that it should have been blown dead cause Ott caused the puck to come loose when he pushed Budaj into the net when he had frozen it under himself already. I was wondering how they didn't call an interference on Ott for pushing Budaj into the net, but I figured that it really didn't interfer with his ability to make the save on it, and Budaj still had time to make the save on Vanek. I have thought that it has been a brutal year to be a goalie now and would like to see them go back to not allowing players in the crease (AS LONG AS THEY MAKE THE RIGHT CALL) because it seems theres alot of guys getting in teh crease, and just charging th goalies with the puck not giving them a chance to make the save. -

that is true, the atmosphere in the arena can be blamed on the fans because they are supposed to bring that to the arena, but the lack of atmosphere gets blamed back onto the team because they aren't doing anything to make the fans cheer, then the players say they aren't being motivated by the fan support to up their level of play, its a viscous circle. You would think that players should be motivated to play their best every game, regardless of the fan support, and not need any motivation from the fans and coaches to go out and play at 120% to win. But in todays day and age, money is more of the motivation for athletes, and once they get it, very few feel like they need to continue to earn it So what you are telling us is that you were off having fun and neglecting your SS Moderator duties? -
never seems to be a problem for the Rangers and Flyers...............I can't see Ott getting a huge raise in a new contract, the thought around the board here is that Gerbe is worthless and should be let go of, Foligno hasn't shown enough to deserve a huge raise yet, and McNabb hasn't shown much of anything yet at the NHL level to deserve a big raise.
-
it all depends on what they have to give up to get one of them. If the Ducks would trade for Myers straight up, theres cap room to cover the new player. As for fitting the others in a deal, with the buyouts permitted this offseason, it shouldn't be hard to sign all 3. If the Flyers, Rangers and Bruins can continue to have cap space for the big name stars, how can the Sabres have trouble signing Miller, vanek and Pomminstein?

Are you not a moderator whos job it is to enforce the rules and do something about it?I wouldn't call it trolling because I don't think he is doing anything to get a rise out of people, very few here disagree with him (you and someone else just brought it up because he was doing it over and over again). I would call it crusading by constantly bringing it up, and also because I believe theres a rule against that ;) -
All he wrote was what most here are crusading onabout here, except that it gets published in a news paper. The problem is that today, in almost all lines of work it seems, the most important part of your job is selling a product. Go to a bank and its all about trying to get you a mortgage or another credit card, Car dealers have always tried to get you to buy the warranties and upgrades, electronic stores always try and get you to buy the extended warranty or other additional packages to your new TV/computer. Well now even the news is all about trying to get you to buy their paper more then just trying to get out acurate news and facts. He is a hack who is in a dying industry where almost anyone with a computer can do his job, and most likely do it better. He is just writing what most are saying and what they want to hear.

exactly, so if he isn't being paid, money isn't being moved, just the cap hit

I wouldn't say that, but definitly a Crusader BS, Miller takes just as much, if not more critiscm from everyone around here then Enroth did. If anything Enroth gets more slack because he had that one good run. Everyone always has an excuse for his play (He doesn't get enough playing time, the team isn't scoring enough goals when he plays, etc) -
You keep the 3 of them and trim the some of the dead weight this offseason with the use of the buyouts that are available Losing any of those 3 will be a huge step back for this team because they currently don't have a replacement for any of them. If I had to pick one that I think the Sabres would have an easier time replacing, i would say its Pomminstein. I think its much easier to find a reasonably priced replacement for him compared to Vanek, or a goaltender.

Buffalo News: Darcy on possible changes: 'It won't be the coach'
apuszczalowski replied to Two or less's topic in Archive
My only issue on his comment is that its apparent that something needs to be done to shake up this roster if you want some kind of results this season, so you would expect that his comment of how it won't be the coach means he has another move that will get done (i.e. a trade), but knowing Darcy, thats most likely not the case, it just means that he will continue to sit on his hands, tell us the trade market is soft and nothings available right now to help and wait for the team to fix itself -
Pegula lobbied lawmakers at HSBC Arena on fracking in NYS
apuszczalowski replied to Stoner's topic in Archive
I have thought there were other motives for TP buying the team, and when it was said what business he was in, it never surprised me that he was running around doing all this "good will" to the Sabres and their fans (Locker room upgrade, arena upgrades, saying he would spare no expense to get this area a cup) all because he was just a rich hockey fan. It does seem fish and it wouldn't shock me one bit if he tried to use all this good will as a way to get in and use it to make business deals and allow hydrofracking (something that without the good will hes done so far most people would protest and be against). Everyone looks at what he is proposing to do with the property accross from the arena and talks only about the good it will bring to the community and how generous TP is for doing this, yet they forget about how that development will also bring him money and help his assets around here also. He is a business man who didn't get rich by foolishly throwing his money around...... -
Not even money is being moved, Its just the Salary cap hit thats being moved IIRC
-
I would disagree that the Leafs would laugh this trade off Kessel is young but it appears he has already peaked. He puts up 30+ goals, but does not play physical and does not seem like the guy who can carry a team as its top player. I would definitly say he is a less physical version of Vanek. Myers is a few years younger and has been underachieving ever since his first year here. He has the potential to be much better, but has yet to reach it and peak. For the Leafs, a team looking more to its future rather then the present, I think they would make this deal thinking they could be getting a steal if Myers reaches his potential. The Leafs are looking to move Kessel if the rumors are true.

I don't know if the league would approve a trade for a player thats playing thats the compensation going the other way is completly conditional upon a player re-signing. Usually those deals are that the islanders would send a 7th round pick for him that could become a 5th if he re-signs (or something like that) If Thomas was playing and collecting an actual salary this season, then yes it wouldn't be as much of an issue if it looked like a fair deal. This move is nothing more then an exchange of Salary cap, where one team that needs room gets to unload a dead cap hit on their books to a team thats trying to run below the league minimum. Its a cellar dweller bailing out an already strong team so the cellar dwelling can continue to collect their welfare from the league.....
