  1. During the Pandemic Years, the price of building materials went through the roof around here and of course earlier in the year I planned on building an addition to my deck which i went ahead with that summer. I would place an online order for Lumber and deck boards one night only to get an email the next morning canceling my order. This year is definetly worse in Canada, Our Postal Workers went on strike in mid/late November and were just forced to go back to work this week where they said the backlog of mail could take into the middle of January to clear up.... I did learn a lesson with one store here in Canada (Canadian Tire), if they tell you at the customer service desk, or you see online it says they have 1 available, it actually means they have none available.........
  2. Can't disagree with you there because I would one up that and have the team walk behind the bus for the entire trip home. Would it help them get out of the slup? Probably not, but I would feel good about watching it! Better yet, If I was Lindy, before letting any of the players leave the bench after this game, I throw all the equipment, and have the equipment staff take all their stuff out of the dresing rooms and either throw it on the ice or in the parking lot and teel them they don't deserve a lockerroom to get changed in.... Being forced to get changed on the ice or in the streets would be less embarrassing then their play....
  3. I think this is the problem with this franchises 'rebuild plan' over the last 13+ years. They believe the only way to build the team is through drafting and developing prospects who will all some day just click and become an NHL Dynasty that will win together for years. They seem to hate the idea of bringing in good/great players (whether it be through FA or trade) because it might mean blocking a young prospect who may need to spend some extra time in the minors and really earn their spot on the team. Or also realising that Good/Great players and prospects can also be used as trade chips to obtain other good/great players or prospects at other positions of need. Instead they force prospects up to early hurting their development, and bring in only washed up Vets or guys looking for a one year deal to rebuild their image so they can move on after. This franchise needs to stop looking long term, and look to rebuild short term to rebuild its image and get back to being atleast a playoff team that can work on becoming a Cup contender. Fans were spoiled in the Dary/ruff era that they seemed to get to the point where they thought regularly winning and being in the playoffs isn't a good thing and that it was necessary to throw everything away and start from scratch to get a Cup team
  4. Sure, but how many times can they keep doing that until they need to try something else? I don't think players/kids these days respond to 'Bag Skates' and tougher practices these days as the players of the older days did. Sometimes just being able to get a day to unwind and get away from the game can help them mentally get back. I think Bag skates work better when players are intentionally not giving their top effort, same with intentionally embarrassing them by making them healthy scratches or benching them for their effort.
  5. When has an organisation ever fired a GM (or even coach) and made full replacements during the season? Almost always they will make the move to fire the current one, bring in an internal interum replacement and then change everything in the offseason. Right now the only choices available will be guys sitting on their couches out of the league since NHL teams won't let other teams poch from their staff mid season, and most in the minors don't want to abandon their current organisations and potentially burn bridges or get a reputation for abandoning the team during the year. Best bet is adams is fired, an internal replacement is named to finish the season, then they work on a new front office in the offseason
  6. Or he was given a ton of Money/incentives to come back to help them save face with the fanbase to sell tickets for this season while the front office continues to believe that one day, all of these young players/prospects will just click and become an NHL Dynasty.....
  7. I don't think I can blame Ruff for giving them a day off before the game. Sometimes that can be what struggling teams need instead of grinding them through another practice. For a lot of teams and players, long losing streaks or personal slumps can be fixed by just taking ti easy and relaxing because you start putting too much pressure on yourself/selves to break out. Unfortunately in hindsight, this was not looking good for them because it didn't help a single bit. I'm sure the media getting wind of the Owner making his way to the arena to speak to the team, and then everyone finsing out it was to 'give them participation trouphies and pat them on the back for trying their best' didn't help either. But this should have been expected when Adams continued to be employed by coming out to the media during a losing streak and basically becoming even more of a laughing stock by just telling everyone "they tried to improve but its hard because 'Taxes and no palm Trees' in Buffalo". But a competent Owner would have also told the media in attendance at that point to hold on 5 minutes after the PC so he could make the announcement that Adams was being let go immediately and 'They do not wish him well in his future endeavours'
  8. BTW, southern Ontario Sabres fans were given an early Christmas Gift by TSN This game is balcked out in the southern ontario Area so they saved us from having the option of watching it.
  9. Could be Both Adams has hshown no sign he has any clue how to be a competent NHL GM
  10. The Fan Base needs to make it known that they aren't going to continue to accept this Next home game, the second they come onto the ice, just litter the ice with garbage along with the Owners Box, then spend the game chanting 'Fire Adms' & 'Sell the team Terry'. OR Next game once the Anthems are complete, everyone just get out of their seat and walk out (make a statement by leaving a palm tree behind) The only other way to make a statement would be to hurt Terrys wallet by not buying tickets, but thats not really going to work because there will always be other teams fans willing to buy them and lots of season tickets are presold before the season
  11. Actually they should make sure the arena is filled only with sabres Fans Then when they take the ice, the entire arena just start to Boo and toss garabage ontot he ice and the Owners Box. You could also throw palm trees...... Spend the rest of the night chanting 'Fire Adams' & 'Sell the team Terry' If thats not 'Our Style', have everyone fill the stands, then once the anthem is over, the entire arena of fans just walk out at puck drop (maybe leave palm trees in their seats), sit out a period, or the etire game. That will get noticed and tell Terry fans aren't going to sit for this BS....
  12. It probably better for Levi to play more in Rochester as starter then sit a bunch behind UPL.
  13. I have said it for years, no prospect has ever been ruined by spending some extra time in the minors. And having prospects blocked by good players on the NHL team is a VERY GOOD problem to have. If a prospect is blocked, you can trade away the veteran if you feel the prospect will be even better, or use the prospect in a deal to obtain another assett or upgrade somewhere else. If theres something that Buffalo should have learned by now watching theleague, theres always ways of getting around the Cap. Theres usuaully a few teams that will take bad contracts during a rebuild, or ways of getting below the cap instead of just not spending to it.
  14. Or they are thinking "I wonder how I can get bought out and end up on a playoff/Cup team?"
  15. Atleast Terry can save some money with this hire, they might still have his name plate for his office hanging around, and HR doesn't need to waste as much time with the paper work or showing him around. He already knows where the office is and the bathrooms....
  16. They should really get that looked at soon, after whats happened to Kim & Damar, you would think they would be on top of these kind of things....... j/k As for Ruff, atleast they went back to someone with a successful track record for them, they could have always decided to go back to Botterill (Hey he has a cup win!) or even Kreuger (to help motivate the young team!). Atleast Ruff has still been in the league coaching since leaving here and has had some success making the playoffs (baby steps for the Sabres). I wouldn't start planning the Cup parade just because of this hire, but I'm a little more confident with this hire that they might be a playoff team next year. Of course this isn't the big hire like Brindamour (who is still coaching a playoff team and doubtful he isn't retained, or some of the other names like Gallant or Boudreau who haven't been coaching since being let go. i think what makes this look worse is that it was done quickly after saying they would leave no stone unturned. It makes this look like they made a couple calls, but had this decision made a while ago unless he turned them down
  17. If they win the land deal, sounds like it will happen. I believe the development plan they came up with for that land wasn't contingent on government funding and was mostly private. The league will get a team back in Arizona again, it's one of their big goals. The only way it won't happen is if the entire state says they don't want hockey there. If the arena is privately funded, it will eventually happen
  18. 10k is double mullets capacity.......
  19. Hmmmmmm He saves the cash, while the Bills take a huge salary cap hit in a year they were already making tough cuts to get below the cap. Make sense that maybe he needed to save a few bucks to eat DG & KA's salaries while also paying for a new roof and scoreboard?
  20. I believe there's one benchmark, get an NHL rink built for them to play in.......
  21. Sabres better act soon, with the way the Jets ownership has talked about their attendance, the Sabres would want to have been the only team to never make the playoffs during their existence.....
  22. From what I read the other day, the league would purchase the team from the current owner for $1B and then flip it to SLC/Utah for $1.2-1.3B where they would start playing next season. As a condition of the deal, the current Arizona owner would be given a 5 year exclusive window for an expansion team for Arizona (I'm also just guessing they will get the same draft deal as Vegas did too) if an arena deal is made to have a new NHL rink ready for them to play in. Basically the league gets Arizona out of a college rink and into a new market that's looking for a franchise, but the league still keeps Arizona open as a location if they can work out a new arena soon. The league makes $200-300k for a new franchise location and puts pressure on Arizona to get something done already on an arena if they want to have a franchise. Hopefully the current owner gets it in writing though as it's been known a few other locations (like Quebec) have also been told that they could be next for a franchise if they provide an NHL level rink to play in. But think of how cool it will be when the league introduced the newest franchise to the league starting in 2028 in Arizona and Atlanta, 2 locations that have shown to be just dying for NHL hockey.........
  23. A couple of 'fun facts' I noticed about the draught - the Sabres have never made the playoffs since the Winnipeg Jets returned to the league - there is only one Sabre left playing in the NHL since their last playoff appearance (Tyler Myers) - the Sabres (after being eliminated) still have about the same chance of being in the Cup Finals as the Leafs........ (The last one was a joke)
  24. The problem with the Sabres is that they are trying to put the cart way before the horse and build a 'Stanley Cup Contender's before having a 'playoff contendor' Stop trying to construct a dynasty team and build one that can at least just get into the dance, them build off of that. There was always a worry about the cap, but winning teams are showing you that the cap isn't a hindrance as much as people think. Also, there was worries of blocking prospects from moving up, and wanting players moved up early. I can't think of any player that's ever been ruined by having to spend a little extra time in the minors.
  25. Nothing You can say it's on the players, but if so, then what's the point of the coach? They need someone who is going to take the players underperforming and make them perform, instead of having 'cuddle party' practices. The comment by Middlestat after his first Avs practice should have sealed DG and the coaching staffs fates immediately. KA shouldn't get a pass or another chance either, this team has had holes for years and he continued to neglect them in hopes for internal upgrades and hoping they can just build off of the previous year. Time for a fresh start (again) with some experienced people who will do whatever is needed to upgrade the team NOW, and stop looking at the future with hopes of building a dynasty
