  1. That was our Stanley Cup call...our biggest win ever. Rick called it. I don't blame Pegula for this mess, it's an accumulation of s**t. I just don't think he can get us out of this mess.
  2. For all you nattering nabobs of negativity, I bring you a moment perhaps unparalled in Sabres history, Rick Jeanerett's glorious call of Drury's goal with 7 seconds left. Things will get better, mark it. Maybe not under this ownership, but it will get better.
  3. Jerry Sullivan makes me want to slit my wrists. The guy is a total downer. If you hate covering Buffalo sports so much Jerry, why don't you get the hell out of Buffalo? http://util.buffalo....o=2263834564001
  4. for the Buffalo Sabres. Your globalist view and authoritarian agenda is one of the great evils of our time.
  5. Seriously, I think you can look at Vernon Wells' comments going to the Yankees ("it's a dream come true") and extrapolate from there. All atheletes have dreams. Some of them growing up want to be like Gilbert Perreault and dream of winning a Stanley Cup in Buffalo in front of the hometown fans, to whom it means so much. Others would rather live out their dreams playing for the team they followed religiously as a kid. Some of them have no dreams but to earn a lot of money and play for a cup or a gold medal etc. I just want the players on our team, like Kaleta or Kane, who grew up idolizing the Sabres. I think these players just give so much more than those who've been traded or drafted here like a piece of meat. I remember Jim Kelly crying when he was drafted by Buffalo...I wonder if he would've gone out drinking the night before the Super Bowl vs. Washington if he was on say the Steelers, who he grew up idolizing. I just want players who want to give their all to our beloved city without question. You gotta have heart. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/yankees/2013/03/26/vernon-wells-yankees-trade-angels/2021991/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+UsatodaycomMlb-TopStories+(Sports+-+MLB+-+Top+Stories)
  6. that's your idea.
  7. that's why I think we should populate this team with players from around WNY, SOnt and even Quebec, who always seem to do well here. Forget the Euros and everyone else. I really want players who want to be there, who have a purpose and represent, not these mercenaries who collect their mega-paychecks and don't perform.
  8. what player in his right mind would want to come to Bflo except maybe someone who comes from there? This org has nothing going and the city too. Look at the Iginla trade. He nixed Boston. Thata's a microcosm of the control many players have over their destination.
  9. You don't have 1 or 2 coach killers on this team, you have 5-10. Each one has different problems. Too many flawed players, either skillwise, smarts or characterwise to overcome, Too many of these guys have "slow eyes" and/or no talent. Lose, lose, lose!
  10. I've suspected this all along.
  11. I tuned in at the very end so I pretty much missed this debacle. Did Hodgson miss a wide open net in the dying seconds of the game? The puck was too fast for my eyes and there was no replay because the game cut out on my NHL Center Ice feed right after the final buzzer.
  12. I liked Stafford's game tonight.
  13. I say strive for just missing the playoffs and a #13 draft pick.
  14. It didn't look like the players were too broken up after Leopold submarined Ruff and broke 3 of his ribs either.
  15. I don't remember the last Buffalo Sabres-bred superstar. Maybe it is/was the system. You read little quotes from many of the players...it's almost shocking but it seems many of the players are happy he's gone.
  16. Patrick Roy? I'm thinking about ownership. Terry is a babe in the woods. He really knows nothing about putting together a professional hockey team. He's an oilman. You take Mario Lemieux. Who knows more about hockey than Mario? He knows how to put together a good squad because he instinctively knows from the top who's a good player and who's not, what players fit together. And he knows a good coach too. What scrapheap did he pick Bylsma from? I never heard of dude but he's had enormous success with the Pens. Sure there's something fishy about the way the Pens keep getting great players and those couple years they tanked and ended up getting Crosby, Malkin and Fleury. But they know what they're doing and Pegula, who's very involved in the process doesn't. The direction has to come from the top and the Sabres already have their Byslma, RR, through hopefully dumb luck and should stick with him.
  17. Despising the entity that is Stafford has become a knee-jerk reaction. Totally understandable.
  18. Don't know if this was covered but you have to give some kudos to Drew Stafford for tying the game in the shootout. He might be invisible in the game but that was a clutch goal in the skills competition.
  19. Myers is getting paid how much to be out of shape!?

    Keep 5

Ott Hodgson Weber Foligno Enroth This choice shows us how bad off we are. We need a core that scraps, not floats. I'd keep Pysyk and Kaleta too.
  21. imo he's in the process of turning the team around. It was a disaster when he stepped in. Now. he's 7-5-3. I don't think 11-15 is terrible. lindy just dug us a big hole at 4-10. and the character of many of the guys is in question. But they're addressing their weaknesses and the sense of entitlement they had under Ruff. many of the remnants from the ruff-regier era have to be blown up including the inexperienced cronies ruff surrounded himself with for coaches, who with their passivity have allowed the wrong players to keep playing and continue unpunished with bad habits.
  22. Call me crazy but I like Rolston.
  23. Let's make a run so we can pick #13 again.
  24. I still believe the Sabres organization thought the lockout would last all year. And when the season started suddenly, they got caught with their pants down.
