  1. best of all the best to Rick and get well soon!
  2. Farewell Errorhoff. I won't miss that canon shot from the point that never made it through a maze of players plus your lackadaisical passes and lazy penalties. Last year was about the most unprofessional season I saw from Ehrhoff and Leino. They both couldn't hide their displeasure of representing Buffalo and they quit on the team.
  3. I was happy that a person named Darcy Regier was not there calling the shots. I'll admit, I know next to nothing about the OHL or WHL or whereever they come from. I have complete confidence that Tim Murray is a smart guy who does the best with what he has and will pick his kind of players and not the kind of players we've been getting for the last 17 years.
  4. I was watching a TV feature on the Taro Tsujimoto deal that Imlach and Co. cooked up and yes it's part of Sabre lore and it was a cute and clever way to pull the wool over the NHL's eyes on a cumbersome draft process. But there was a footnote to this light-hearted attempt at hockey humor that enraged me...I never knew that two Stanley Cup winners (Dave Lumley - 2 with Edmonton and Stefan Persson, 4 with the Islanders) were drafted after Tsujimoto, a fictional character, was taken by the Sabres. So the Sabres squandered a draft pick for a joke...The club has an unfortunate history of soft-headed stupidity that I hope comes to an end with Tim Murray, who I feel is the hard-headed antidote to all that ails us as an organization. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taro_Tsujimoto
  5. He looks like Popeye and he mumbles a lot but Darryl Sutter must be doing something right. http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/this-darryl-sutter-press-conference-montage-is-fantastic/
  6. look how well the Kings pass the puck. the Sabres can't even complete an unforced outlet pass.
  7. I can see the Kings sweeping.
  8. Golisano and Monica Seles are engaged. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/seles-engaged-ex-pol-golisano-article-1.1820175
  9. When Vanek made that fine slap pass to Pacioretty vs the Bruins, he was in hockey heaven in Montreal. He is now in hockey hell there and it can get very hot, according to the comments in this article: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=452727
  10. Just a hunch that Ryan retires. There's nowhere for him to go with any future unless he accepts a backup role and I don't think he's going to do that. He's a very old 34 with a ton of miles and he was already talking about retirement in a couple years.
  11. He Was the best passer the Sabres ever had, no doubt about it.
  12. YEAH BABY!!!!!!! Thanks Yuri, I had forgotten what a superstar offensive play in a Sabres uniform had looked like.
  13. I once watched Hawerchuk flip it over the net to himself and score. I think it was against the Flyers. Never saw that before or since. The master of the 2" pass.
  14. Bergie to Briere: "va chercher ca le gros, va chercher ca" "Go get it big guy, go get it." http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=1672061
  15. on the other hand here's Briere, a good guy well respected in the league mic'ed up during the handshake, http://video.canadiens.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=66&id=618275&lang=en
  16. Low points: This year and 86-87 Losing to Carolina in the Conference Finals when Edmonton was up next. The Brad Park goal The two Stanley Cup elimination games Drafting Artem Kriukov, the Russian Concussion The slow mistakes of the Regier years Gerbe's buyout Perreault's retirement when he still had something left in the tank...I think he retired out of frustration The parade of bad owners, including the Rigas jail sentence The Martin and Malarchuk injuries The deaths of Horton and Martin Black Sunday Comes a point where you just look at all the misfortunes and mistakes and say the Buffalo Sabres should've just stayed the Bisons.
  17. More Lucic. Interview with a "thug." (sorry if that offends some of you) Hardy-har-har. http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bruins/extras/bruins_blog/2014/05/did_milan_lucic_threaten_canadiens_players_in_the_handshake.html
  18. Bruins deserved to lose. When the racist fans came out, they already lost, to me. Price outplayed Rask. The guys the B's counted on all year shot blanks v the Habs...Bergeron, Krecji, Lucic, Chara, Marchand, Smith. Marchand came up with 0 goals in the two rounds. They probably could've used Seguin. The Boston Strong, chest thumping and arm flexing makes me want to puke. The water bottle squirt sure was funny Thornton, you moron. I also think that Julien might have lost certain players aka the NJ Devils' firing.. I loved seeing him chirp on the bench when Marchand sprayed Price. (insert Donald Duck sound effects) And Lucic threatening a couple players in the handshake, I echo I've never heard of that before and probably will not hear of it again. It's beyond bush, beyond knuckle-dragging Neanderthat with a 55 IQ. The guy clearly has mental problems. But we knew that when we saw that crooked smile in the interview after the Miller incident. Buttman won't punish him though, but he'll punish a plugger on a small market team like Kaleta.
  19. I pay woefully little attention to the financial reality of the revenue and stuff like that. I'm just going by my feelings as a hockey fan and after our worst year, I just feel it's a slap in the face to Joe Fan to raise ticket prices. I know from one of your posts that they're doing some shell game to make things right but on the surface of it that's how I feel.
  20. Although it wasn't a big price increase and Buffalo is still a bargain compared to the rest of the NHL market, a price increase after the worst season in Sabres history and one in which the team scored the least amount of goals in modern NHL history is a P.R. disaster at the very least and symbolically a slap in the face to the "suffering" fans.
  21. Dobber's fantasy take on the Sabres. TM should hire this guy!
  22. If Vanek is smart, he'll stay in Montreal, where they'll surround him with good players and a good system. What hockey player wouldn't want to play for the Habs? A great European-like city, a great system, the best fans too. They have had hockey smarts for generations. Going to Minnesota where they're building the team around guys who are in their late 20s-early 30s on the downside...meh. That's hockey hinterlands. They won one playoff series in 10 years. If Vanek doesn't let greed get the best of him, he'll stay in Montreal, the true hockey heaven.
  23. more than half this discussion is whether this has been posted previously or not. Who cares? I read it for the first time and got something out of it. It's tough being a pro hockey player, especially when you come up in a certain role, a scorer, and get forced into being a grinder. I wish the kid and countless others we never hear about had the power to be able to go to a different organization where he could play his role. But the concussions and shoulder problems, I can really relate to that. It's the luck of the draw, all things being equal.
