When I saw Gionta the first guy in the SO my heart sank. DB should get his act together on the shootout selections and timeouts.

I think it was "Ho what a goal" not Oh.

Another problem with the in-game experience. Sabretooth sucks. What a tired old mascot in that moth-eaten costume. Sabetooth is beyond corny. Why can't the Sabres have a cool mascot who can actually skate like this one and why can't they get someone with great ideas to enhance the in-game experience? Why? Because the organization is rife with cronies and cronies have no ideas except lining their pocketbooks. https://www.facebook.com/TrexTuesdays/videos/1076582205706033/

they should bring up Guhle and release Carlo and/or Franson.

I get nauseous reading about fans who cheer to lose. This isn't what it's all about.

I'd venture to say that very few players are of the caliber where a 4 year contract is the option. Yet we keep finding the ones not to sign and sign em up.

Please wake me when one of these guys hits 30 or 40 goals. Just sayin, no natural goal scorers in Rochester, no one to get excited about sniping.

Then there's the shootout goal by Brunner if you haven't seen it...http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/former-nhler-brunner-scores-jaw-dropping-shootout-goal-has-hilarious-celebration/

But Stempniak is 32 and McGinn is 27, just entering his prime. I'd like to hang on to McGinn, even though he's an injury risk. There are other 30+ year olds on the team that are less productive...

Lee Stempniak scored two last night v Winnipeg giving him 12-22-34 for the season. He can score and can't be too expensive and is a native. I always thought he'd be a Sabre then I looked at his history and the man keeps getting shuffled from team to team. I wonder why. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/player-bio/lee-stempniak

Re Moulson: He might not be able to crack the lineup of any other NHL team.

Mutiny? Torts submarined at practice by a player, breaks ribs. Sound familiar? http://www.tsn.ca/tortorella-suffers-broken-ribs-after-practice-collision-1.427119

Looking at the stats after 40 games, Varone leads the Amerks with 10 goals (and a -19). After that there are a couple 7 goal scorers. Almost all of the team is minus on the +/- scale. I realize there's a lot that's wrong with the Amerks and the organization has become a perrenial bottom feeder, but please pick up some pure goal scorers.

Every time I read an article focusing on Grigorenko, he is always "excited" about something. Too bad the feeling's not mutual with the fans.

One of the reasons the NHL keeps switching from 5 on 5 to 4 on 4 to 3 on 3 is that the players have become too big for the alotted ice. You have all the clogging up with the collisions but with all the clutter, there's very little room to skate or work a play. What really needs to be done IMO is the the ice surfaces must be enlarged. But I think ultimately Bettman, who has never played hockey, can't understand this and he'll keep switching back and forth cluelessly re-arranging the chairs on the deck of the Titanic. For the most part, it's not fun to watch. The great plays are too far between and our players are just not skilled enough at this point to pull it off with any consistency. One of the major reasons for the morgue-like atmosphere at the FNC has been the two historically bad years, fielding the team that has scored the least amount of goals per season in NHL history. Our guys for some reason, couldn't get it done in a historically bad way. It was done by plan and it's not fun to watch, even if Uncle Terry said that those two years were some of the most successful years in Sabres history.

Passing is a skill. The Sabres have been guilty of hot potato passes the last few years. It was part of a loser mentality. Maybe they're starting to break out of passing out of the sake of passing which relieves the pressure off the passer of the puck and puts the pressure on the guy getting the puck. It's been more like dumping than passing these last few years. This was some of the worst hockey I've ever seen at a pro level. I think as a passer you always have to think how easy it will be for the shooter to convert your pass or the receiver to make another play at the end of your pass. You have to give him the easiest or softest pass you can right on his stick depending on the circumstance. There are time for hard passes and time for soft passes and you can't have goals without good passes. But you need skilled passers in order to win.

On the Eichel goal, it was a tape to tape one timer. Let's see more of those.

I'm looking at the standings and there are only four teams in the entire NHL that are under .500, Buffalo, Toronto, Edmonton and Columbus.

Looks like a good mix out there with everyone doing their role. Maybe it's a turning point. -
Look at the Florida Panthers. Anyone who has watched them has seen the empty seats...thousands and thousands of them. You can hear a pin drop. But now the team's kicking ass and the fans are coming back. It's actually a lively place now.
