It's pretty simple. Treat people the way you like to be treated. Do not treat others badly. That you or anyone else in this thread is even using the particular word I referenced is VERY offensive to me and to most normal Jewish people. Ask a black person what he thinks of the N word. People get brave with the anonymous way they can communicate on the internet...If you knew what it's like to be a minority that has been harrassed and killed over a long period of time, maybe you might understand. But you don't seem care and you're bringing down the respect between people here.

Your first point is well taken... But as for the story in question, here's my point. This thread has introduced a new ethnic slur to many people, (including Chz) who may not have known it previously. If we keep using these type of words in public, on the web etc. we not only keep it alive to hurt groups of people, but we're passing it on to a new generation of people who will keep reviving the use for their own purposes. When you stop using a word, it dies out. There are English words like japes, bodikin, furbelow and many others that fell out of use hundreds of years ago simply because people stopped using them. People need to stop using words like the one Chz used (even inadvertently) and other ethnic, religious and gender slurs need to die.

I didn't want to post anything public; I wanted to keep it private. But when she wouldn't discuss my concern privately, I felt i had to address her post directly. As a Jewish person, i feel strongly against the public use of ethnic slurs and that her story perpetuates their use. These words should have died out long ago. i routinely see words like this in comment boards, people using offensive language whether it's ordinary swearing, ethnic slurs or anti-female etc. words that would have never been tolerated in public even ten years ago. This is not improving or liberating our conversation, it's degrading us and keeping these hurtful words alive and active again, as people use them to inflame others and be hurtful.

The above is a story, i'm sure meant to be humorous, that illustrates how ignorance and prejudice is brought home to family members around casual conversations at a dinner table. It's about an ignorant family member, a member of the older generation, who influences the younger family members with old prejudices. it is not about PC. The family unquestioningly accepted her prejudiced and hateful statements, probably more than once. Family is king and you never want to call out a family elder. it's just not done. This is the way that hatred for an entire minority is passed on. Casually, unquestioningly over family dinner. I privately wrote chz about deleting this story because I am Jewish and the word "k i k e' is extremely offensive to me and all other Jews (who don't hate themselves). It's very much like the N-word except there is no hip street cache using the expression. Jews don't go around casually calling each other this word. She did not delete the story or even answer me. So now I feel I should tell people on this board that this is how the administrator of the board acts when it comes to hurting other peoples' feelings. She doesn't care. It seems she learned this attitude from her grandmother.

The Caps' D Dmitry Orlov is still unsigned. He might be a 3-4 dman, he's a lefty and he's only 25. Last year he had a career best 8-21/26pm. But he's only 6'-200lb. The Caps fans have been getting on Orpik as well -- he's almost finished but might be good depth if you can get him for a bargain..

.The current unis make the Sabres look like the Bruins on TV. .Who was the genius behind the pit stains? Pegula's clothes designer daughter? How did that embarrassingly stupid idea last so long? Oh I forgot, it's Buffalo. .The old AFL/AHL Buffalo teams -- '60s Bills and Bisons -- had classic uniforms. Then they turned "major league" and the ham-handed major league football and hockey men got control and really dumbed down the product. It has gotten dumber and dumber with time and is now diluted with no identity. Did the Habs, Bruins, Canadiens, Leafs, Wings and Hawks change their uniforms much through the decades? No. It's called tradition. But the Sabres went around the block and back, changing colors, changing logos and then back to a diluted form of the the original mish-mash idea that was chosen by a fan. Since the beginning we've had namby-pamby ownership who wouldn't go the extra mile when the team was close to being a champion. In short, there's a real lack in the brains dept. in Buffalo sports and that's why we have zero championships.

Lehner - I have 0 confidence and expect him to get long term injury. Sorry to say but he's maybe one major injury from ending his long and storied career. Lehner's backup - We have nothing. Wait til the shooters figure out Ullmark like they did in the AHL. This is TM at his worst. He needs to pull a rabbit out of a hat here. Nilsson--why? Defense - Need to sign Risto. What's taking so long? Need a top pair Dman like a Fowler or Shattenkirk. I'd like to see Guhle emerge. Forwards - I'd like to see Kane surprise everybody. He might be playing like he just escaped from prison. Unless they sentence him... I'd like to see another top six forward. Think Gionta and Moulson are finished and just acting placeholders. As older players they are inconsistent and would like to see them gone. Not a big Foligno fan. He's inconsistent too. I think Gus needs another organization. There are holes there but I'd like to see Baptiste and Bailey make a serious run for the lineup. I don't expect Ennis to stay healthy. I see Eichel, if healthy at about 80 pts. Reinhart maybe about 60.

The NHL might be a tough place to play for this guy. I wonder if players will be gunning for him with all this hoopla. The public marketing of himself to other teams is a turn-off for me personally. But TM gave it a shot to give Buffalo an inside track, if there ever was one, so we'll see. My opinion, I see Brian Holzinger in waiting here and the Sabres might dodge a bullet if they miss out.

I have to wonder if Kane was set up by people who don't like him, maybe even Pegula. We'll see if Cambria can wiggle out of this one. The legal system in Buffalo, (Dr. Corasanti case) is really amazing in not such a good way.

It's time to end this thread. This trade is ancient history.

I like the forwards and the D is shaping up although it needs more in the top end. TM has really taken a gamble on Lehner and I don't see a good backup when he gets injured, although I have high hopes in Cal Peterson. TM overpays on trades or free-agents he covets but those guys are available for a reason. I don't like long-term contracts unless the player is a cornerstone. Despite all this, he remains The Most Interesting Man in the World.

I'd keep Kane this year, see how he does. I wouldn't count on getting Vesey; too much competition. Hopefully Evander can find a good woman and settle down.
