I enjoyed my short vacay in Beijing. The great wall, the forbidden city, a ming dynasty tomb, tea ceremony, sight seeing. No complaints. People were nice and aside from some smog and cabbies who wanted to turn off the meter because I was white in an effort to squeeze me for more cash everything went well.

And I’ll add that in a year that has the mantra of ‘ learning ‘ and ‘ growth ‘ rather than winning , seeing a glimmer of that from a young player or players should be applauded. I still believe that winning should always be a priority but it was nice to see UPL have even a small victory personally even though it wasn’t in the win column.

Just memories of a time this team was relevant. Sadly those are fading. Thankfully hearing stories here on Sabrespace jog much of what I remember and it all comes back. The Seventies were great. This team was actually feared which is prolly hard for some of the kiddoes to understand. No one took us lightly. I pine for those days. I have a lot of hockey cards from that era but thats about it as far as memorabilia goes.

One of the coaches on the Rangers bench it could have been the head coach ( I don’t even know who coaches that team ) made the call. They showed them watching on the monitor at the bench and they were actually smiling likely cause they knew it would come back. At that time there was a brief exchange with one of the refs.
