The extent to which we as a country in general seem to be quite happy to operate from a baseline of "It can't happen here" while ignoring all information indicating it is indeed happening is both terrifying and maddening. And empowering to those few intent on making it happen.

Wales does have a league, but it was founded in the 90’s. The teams higher up the ladder, Swansea, Cardiff, a few others, didn’t join and got a pass to stay in the English leagues.

There’s an old story about Bobby Clarke in Philly, trying to trade a defenseman. I forget who. Anyway, he told the stats guys to send the player in question’s hit totals through the roof so as to increase his value (again, back when this was valued). I can’t imagine much has changed.
