Donald J Trump, your thoughts on his Presidency
Sabel79 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
Ask the Sandinista how that ended. Not really what he's driving at. As stated, numbers have been and were trending downward well before Trump's dog and pony show at the border started... why, then, is there suddenly an emergency requiring an enormous, and enormously expensive, response? Shouldn't the factual evidence showing the improvement from our perspective indicate that what is in place now is achieving positive results? -
What are the odds that the inevitable dip happened right after Ole' got his permanent contract? Long may it continue.

GDT: Season Finale Sabres at Detroit April 6th, 2019 7PM MSG
Sabel79 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
The remains of this dead season need to be buried deep in an unmarked grave in an undisclosed location, then thoroughly trampled by a herd of horses so that no one can find and dig it back up. I shall now spend the offseason arguing with myself over whether to renew my NHL.tv subscription... which I totally will because of course. Let's hope the worm turns beginning in October. -
"Considered one of the worst albums of all time*..." *by the author of this piece. What absolute flaming garbage. That's his (incredibly incorrect) opinion, fine. Own it. @New Scotland (NS) and I are going to die on this hill together, dammit.

This poor bastard...

It works every time...

Hoo boy that one aged poorly... still, I’ll bite. Come on and show me, say the Bells of old Bowie...

TG getting a bit salty. Looking at the Snooze website, I’d say Harrington’s latest wholly unsourced screed prompted this... and he’s not wrong.

Just quit it with the giving him oxygen. Everybody. I got warning points the last time, courtesy of his crocodile tears, so I’ll be gentle... please, JJ, find yourself an appropriate forum.

Not nearly cynical enough if you don’t think that UB, or indeed literally every school, cheats to the best of its ability.

Phil has, sadly (given his Sabres pedigree, I really wanted this to work), proven to be in over his head and should be replaced with an experienced coach at this level who will do the little things right. Who knows who that is? We'll have to see what shakes loose after the season. The idea of Quennville gives me the fear, I don't think he's that guy. Anyway, it's no longer enough, after just about two full seasons, to say the players just aren't getting the system right. If everybody's not getting it, then you, the guy in charge, are the one not getting it right. Disco also died on this sword, with the added handicap of running a garbage, outdated system showing us absolutely none of the flashes of potential (and they were there) that occasionally popped up under Housley. My other concern has to do with JBots. I'm ambivalent to the RoR trade. He may well have needed to go, and even if the trade is a total whitewash, the cap space alone should give him something to work with going forward. The loss of his production and discipline really hurt, and JBots' refusal to do anything when Berglund flamed out (with the team in a good position and some unexpected cap space) might be, in hindsight, indefensible. This team is crying out for a second capable center. There has to have been one available for a decent price, even a short-term guy if you think the kids will be alright. TM left him with a mess to clean up, and for a bit there it looked as if things were progressing, but man, it sure looks like he's some sort of Bizarro-TM, hoarding picks and young guys like Gollum in a cave somewhere waiting for a magical day when they all hatch together into NHL players. I'm just an internet JAG, and share the concern of some other posters in various threads lately about the sudden turn toward the unnecessarily ugly this board has taken lately, and as such don't really wish to fan the flames, but I'm more disheartened by the current state, and more importantly, the near future, of this team since Rigas got arrested.

At this rate his next contract isn't going to be much of an issue, IMHO.

Nah.

The rest of the post was unnecessary. Have your opinion all you want, but don’t swing it around like a verified fact.

This, from you, is richer than milk chocolate wrapped in gold.

The Hodgson buyout, in retrospect, was quite possibly the dumbest thing Darcy ever did. I’ll temper that a bit by saying I’m not sure how much info he, or indeed Cody, had about the situation at the time, bust sheesh. This is the same Darcy who suspended Teppo Numminen for having a heart condition (albeit surely at the behest of OSP) though, so who knows?

Classy move by the organization even if he doesn’t make the ice. Gets him a look at the day-to-day life in the pros.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner. “Hits” are an absolute canard. The team is bad. Different people will attribute this to different failings, wether it be they’re not hitting/punching/scoring/saving enough. It could, theoretically, be any/all of these things, but we have data showing hits don’t equal wins. So maybe just be better at hockey?

The stars seem to have aligned themselves perfectly for once... spending the weekend with the GF. No work, no kids, nothing else on the agenda. First time that’s happened since we’ve been together. Rather looking forward to it...

It’ll be interesting to see who gets beaten harder, Spuds or ManYoo. Preferably both. By double digits...

Good lord, what'd Skinner do to deserve that?

ManU have been outperforming their underlying metrics to an unsustainable degree since Jose left. The correction was always coming... and I'm going to enjoy it.
-
All good, my friend.

Indeed. Been together since June. Keep up, old chap...
