No idea how this guy runs this account without self-harming, but here’s today’s, and, well... yeah. -

Recency bias aside, Rolston was definitely worse. For his gardening gloves alone. -

Just... how are they not capable of putting a puck in the net for any reason at all? KO hitting the goalie from four feet where that was probably the harder thing to do.... -

I forgot this game was happening and then saw the score, so I have nothing to say about the game. Upon reading RK's post-game comments, I've seen enough. Time for a hockey coach of some description to take charge of this team. I'll even take Torts or some other troglodyte at this point (as well as that is guaranteed not to end, if only for the entertainment value gained before the inevitable train wreck). I think we'd all sign up for a different kind of train wreck at this point. -

Good lord. If I’m Ullmark I’m starting a brawl in the locker room with everyone else for ruining his shutout bid there.

Credit where it's due, he does one thing very well. Which, while faint praise, is more than most others on this team can say right now. -
Somewhere, locked away in an attic and wrapped up tightly so as to never see the light of day, there is a portrait of this team improving. I just know it.

Donald J Trump, your thoughts on his Presidency
Sabel79 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
Well, among other, less reputable places... I mean, I’m rather happy that’s where you found it, I’m not going to lie. -
Another one that came to me while I was walking the dog earlier today (I think about some weird stuff while we’re on a walk, I suppose...): 1917. Not going to gush about the one-shot aspect of it (that’s been done before to varying success) but it’s beautiful. It also avoids the cartoonish and bombastic triumphalism of most western war films. The sheer banality of the horror surrounding the characters at all times is just so disturbing and well-done.

Too soon, my friend.

Expect the rallies to begin again shortly, along with more and escalating violence across the country. We are in so much danger as a country/society. -
Incredibly pretentious entry (of films I haven't seen listed here already) alert: Rashomon The Third Man Spirited Away (undoubtedly the greatest animated film ever made and I will fight you about it. Like with fists. Perhaps a bat.)

It just occurred to me that I haven't watched a second of hockey since the Sabres got shut down, and haven't even had a thought about doing so even though I usually would and am paying for the ability to watch literally every game. I may be pulling an RoR and losing my love for the game, I dunno...

Perhaps fair, but Ehrhoff wasn't even remotely the most egregious case (See: Leino and Regehr) and in any event, well prior to the actual purview of this thread. Buying out Ehrhoff was a necessity forced upon them by cap recapture applying backwards; his contract was not actually an albatross when it was signed nor would it have been had the rules not changed.
-
There are many substantial sticks to beat the franchise with, but this isn't really one of them. The contract was fine, and IMHO he was worth it, with the understanding that Ehrhoff wasn't ever going to see the end of it, until the league changed the buyout rules to front-loaded contracts and applied them ex post facto. If the buyout hadn't been made ridiculously onerous nobody'd have batted an eye, and Ehrhoff would have been traded to someone wanting the cap hit without spending the actual money toward the end. Since the compliance buyout gave teams an out as to the cap anyway on two bad deals in the CBA dealing with this, the only one impacted is Terry's wallet.

The "real conservatives" are, and have been the Democrats, since Bill Clinton and his gang (many of whom are still rather prominent... I mean, Hillary ran on a platform demonstrably to the right of Nixon in 2016) veered the party right in the early 90's to some success. Until, of course, the Republicans were forced to stare into the abyss and decided to jump in head first, starting with the "Contract with America" (ugh) and spiraling downhill from there to what we have now. Even those who today call themselves conservative and publicly deplore Trump regret it all not one tiny bit, because he gave them what they want (Hardcore Conservative judicial nominies and a gutting of the upper end of the tax code). They care nothing about the rest of the damage, and gladly monitor their bank balances while the country plunges into what may well turn into a great depression that makes the last one look quaint. To quote Joe Pesci in Casino "Hey, they earned with the prick..."
