Coming from a position of absolutely no knowledge whatsoever, one concern may be that there's an upper limit to how many guys you can have participating in these camps in a meaningful way. May want to give the more established kids a pass so they can have a look at more of the noobs. Just spitballing on that one.

So, interesting and somewhat related story I heard this morning, from Keith Olberman on Wyshinski's Nerdist podcast. He told of a mid-90's night out in NYC with Eric Lindros, John LeClair, Messier, and others, I forget. As Olberman tells it, Lindros was in Bat Country at 3:30 in the morning, and had the bright idea to dance on a table. On the way up he thinks better of it, tells LeClair it's time to go, hits the limo and takes off. The next morning "LINDROS THROWN OUT OF BAR" stories popped up everywhere. Again, per Olberman, quite far from the truth. Grains of salt required...

Off-ice nonsense aside, there's no hockey reason to trade Kane unless it's part of something big. Don't see that happening.
-
Hasek won round one, Nolan/Muckler were sent packing. He then promptly effed off and forced a trade once it was apparent things were about to go precipitously downhill. Subban, O'Riley, St. Louis in Tampa all good recent examples though.

Looking at 2017's UFA class: Jamie Benn, who's never going to leave Dallas and Victor Headman, who TB is going to have a hard time resigning (or else something else pops loose) and everyone else they have to lock up, are the only two non-Shattenkirk (he's been throughly discussed) players I'd actually want. if GMTM's not done constructing this team to his liking for the next few years, gonna have to be some more trades...

For a second, when all I saw was Subban traded, and before the Stamkos news broke I was sure that was SS to the Habs. Then I saw Weber as the return... And had to run to the kitchen and get a glass of water so I could do a proper spit-take. Insanity doesn't even begin to cover it...

Chiarelli is like a virus moving from team to team and destroying them from within. Only logical explanation...

Probably left about $15 million on the table. Someone would have given him 7x$12. No state tax though...

Welp...

I've never tweeted him anything. I found a tweet I replied to from May (in which he was named but not tagged) making fun of him. I said something about hard-hitting hotdog related journalism. Has to be it. Bit touchy...
-
Simmons deleted the tweet already. OMFG can it just be Friday already... Edited to add: no he didn't delete it, he blocked me on Twitter... Oh man... I have to figure out why...

Per actual honest to god Bob McKenzie, Mason Raymond and Eric Nystrom on buyout waivers, Brad Stuart clears. Woof.

The second Detroit should have been TB. Of course, Mirtle points out in the article that TB can't really afford him without making cuts elsewhere, but still. Better odds than Buffalo. Because of reasons. I honestly see no way he stays in Tampa, but then again I'm JAG on a message board...

It's not by any means a cesspool. It's no Toronto or NYC, and never will be; but it's not Detroit, and never will be either. One only needs to look at the impressive roster of guys who have stayed in WNY after their Sabres / NHL days are over to see what those who have actually experienced the area think about it.

There are two ways one can take that... Please tell me it's drugs...

True, but still remarkable. Especially for a program that size.

So Pat Summitt, coach of Tennessee's women's basketball for 38 years, died today. I'm no fan of basketball and most definitely no fan of anything related to the NCAA, but I read this stat about Summitt's record: Every single player who finished her eligibility under Summitt graduated. Over 38 years. It's sad that this is mind blowing, but it is. Extremely. There are flowers growing out of the festering dung heap that is college sports occasionally, it seems.

To be honest I had entirely forgotten about Grigs. Man, that trade... Does Makarov think Rochester is Buffalo?
-
In all seriousness, Neo, can you please expand upon what you believe Trump's understanding of the role of the judiciary to be? I have my own... Concerns.
-
Of course, if all we've got to go on as far as GMTM's view of Russian players is what happened with Zadarov and Makarov there's a perfectly reasonable non-Russian-hating explanation in both cases...

I'm equally divided on this case. As a taxpaying citizen of Virginia at all times relevant, how effing dare he? out the governor's mansion for the benefit of a snake-oil salesman is not a good look. For such a pittance as well... Embarrassing, and I'd have loved him to spend some time in prison. Then the attorney brain kicks in, and to be honest, it was amazing he was ever convicted. Given the nebulous nature of the statute he was convicted under, well, this was probably the correct result. No matter what that says about how screwed we are...

Presented without comment: https://www.sny.tv/rangers/news/report-the-rangers-plan-to-talk-to-thomas-vanek-about-a-possible-one-year-deal/186437742 Now I have to comment because the link got chopped: Rangers talking to Vanek about a 1-year deal.

Stamkos has a full no move, why would he agree to weaken the team he'd go to for nothing on 7/1 by costing them assets?
-
THere has to be another defenseman coming. Stamkos or no.
