Hilariously enough, Hockey Reference tells me that Risto has the worst overall plus/minus (in terms of the number, no accounting for games played) in the history of the franchise at a -70. Any guesses as to who number two on that list, at a similar number of games played, with a -65 is? And yes, I did some late-night drunken rabbit-hole venturing last night.

Not to go all Debbie Downer, but it's nailed on that they play ten times better than they did last night and still manage to lose. I can feel it coming.

This. At the end of the season we'll likely see the Sabres about ten points or so out of the playoffs. Given where the franchise is and has been, an honest appraisal of the team being sent out on opening night would have penciled that in as being the most likely outcome. At least a few on this board seemed to agree before the season started. Let's not lose sight of the forest while staring at the trees here. There's still a lot of hockey to be played.

The insurance issue is not inconsequential (not that I'm suggesting you think it is). I guarantee you there are many states with looser regs and Uber drivers who don't want to let their insurance companies know they're Uber drivers. The possibilities for nastiness are endless.

Right or wrong, GMTM made a significant investment in bringing Lehner here. It'd probably take something fairly spectacular, in one direction or another, to have him give up on the guy. The backup always seems to look better in short stints.

McCabe still terrifies me with the puck, he had a real good clearance straight to two Oilers in front of the net last night. Long term if more guys are actually healthy, I dunno if he's the ideal partner for Risto. Then again, Gorges is, well, Gorges.
