The comparison between this season and the Hard Tank isn't entirely fair, IMO. That team won a Game on 12/27 to go 14-19-3. They were playing well over their heads to get to 31 points. Didn't win again until February 3rd. 14 Straight losses. As pi says, still lots of hockey to be played. Not that I have any hope whatsoever of this team making the playoffs, but some perspective on where they were helps (me, at least) comprehend where they are now. Can and should it be better? Without a doubt. This season is worse than the tank because, you know, expectations. Hopefully GMTM is able to shift this thing up to the next gear. I haven't ruled out the possibility that he can. DDB can right off, though.

I got nothing, other than night shift giving me the merciful option to sleep through this one. Go Sabres, I suppose...

I'll take a win. Kane looked good. Eichel looked like he had a rocket shoved up him on the back check. Zetterberg spent the entire game shooting at Lenny's head and got lucky once. Watching Eichel undress Vanek for his goal was nice and gave me horrible flashbacks at the same time. As did Vanek's goal, I mean the flashbacks, nothing nice about that. On to the next one...

I've been to two games in Columbus. Both times to see the Sabres. Just like 80% of the arena both nights, if I recall correctly. It's a gorgeous place to see a game, in a cool downtown setting. It's begging for a winning franchise, and hemmoraging money in the meantime. We're it not for the obvious fact that Carolina is headed straight to Quebec in the next dpfewmyears, I'd worry. But who knows?

Can you even imagine Lindy riding back in on a white horse? The mere thought of it makes me excited and sad and all sorts of other things. I'd put the odds slightly below zero, however.

You inspired me with this. The wife and I split a six pack last night while celebrating our Christmas. I'm at work all weekend, it was needed.

So John Scott was on Marek/Wyshinski's podcast last week. He was asked what a player would think about the mess in Florida right now, and made a comment to the effect that he went through something similar when Patty walked away after having been lied to by ownership (I'm paraphrasing, but that was what I found to be the gist of what John said). I found that rather interesting, and have no reason to doubt that was the view in the room. Not sure what it's worth, but it's really the only candid quote from anyone remotely close to the situation I've ever heard.

I'd expect something to happen after the roster freeze gets lifted. Wouldn't hold my breath that it'll be major or that it'll turn things around. DDB is likely safe until the end of the year. How this team ended up one ankle sprain from frustrating mediocrity is beyond me, but that's where we are.

I mean, they may as well not even have a goalie out there in shootouts
