The trolling of the Chargers happening on twitter right now over the new logo is Epic. The Lightning started it, since it is their logo and the Dodgers logo having a kid. The Stars just sent out the Cowboys Star in Green and asked if it was cool. I'm enjoying it greatly.

I'm fairly sure his ticket was punched before and until he did get into trouble, and he knows it. They'll keep him this season but I'd expect him to be elsewhere next year.

I don't really want to start banging this drum yet/again already, but let's all take a deep breath and remember that the ASG is a dumb waste of time / soulless money grab from the fans/ opportunity for sponsors to have a party in return for their investment / a thing kids like, making an already too long season last longer still. On the other hand, the centennial celebration and LA stage means Sidney Crosby is (probably) going to bother to show up. So it's got that going for it.

True, but he's painted himself into a bit of a corner with the situation in goal at the moment. It'll take a fair bit of wiggling to fix it, unless he's really sure he can dangle something else out there. Pittsburgh is also quite screwed in this regard as of now, FWIW. They have to protect Fleury unless they can move him, leaving Murray eligible. it'll be interesting what happens there as well.

I did, and GMTM will, trust me. The problem is that the Sabres have to sign another goalie just to have a goalie to expose. If they give Lehner and Ullmark qualifying offers, then they're in compliance (Nillson is a UFA and I guess could technically be signed before the draft but I'd tell him no way if I was his agent) but one of them gets left exposed. I doubt it'll be Lehner. Perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself, as I don't think there's any sense worrying about the expansion draft (i.e. doing exactly what I'm doing now) until after the trade deadline, but I'm not sure we can bet the farm on losing a big contract to Vegas as it stands.

I've been fooling around with the CapFriendly expansion draft tool because I have a rich and full life. I'm starting to dread the possibility that Ullmark gets taken (assuming the chips fall in a pattern requiring him to be exposed). Not so much because Ullmark would necessarily be a devastating blow, but we're not losing enough in salary.

This year, next year not an issue. Ennis, Moulson, and Bogo account for $14,742,857 against the cap in 18-19, with Jack and Sam needing to be resigned. Barring a steep increase in the cap something's gotta give or that's gonna hurt.

The Sabres will get hot in the second half and make the playoffs this year. This is because every team in the Atlantic is hot garbage. The exception to this is Montreal, who are a healthy Price always from being hot garbage, as evidenced by last year.

Watching Laffs-Habs. Caught a chunk of the Laffs game last night as well. I'm starting to wonder if their progress has been overstated/estimated. They're plenty of fun going forward, but boy howdy are they NC-17 in their own end. Not just the defense, literally everyone. If you lose a ton of games 5-4 you still lose a ton of games. Perhaps that one belongs in the unpopular opinion thread...
