  1. 1. No, but somebody with the cap space totally should. It'd be glorious to watch Chiarelli attempt to fix that problem. 2. Were I a dues paying member of the NHLPA, I'd be incredibly pissed at McJesus right now. Why he left money on the table when he absolutely didn't have to is beyond me. Draisaitl and Jack, among others lost a few million with one stroke of Connor's pen. It's not like you're not getting locked out anyway. Get what you can get.
  2. Matty Mo is what he is at this point, can be productive if used properly. Not worth the price paid, but nothing to be done with it now. Not the biggest concern at the moment, IMO. (Spoiler alert: Goalie)
  3. Trade incoming.....
  4. It's almost as if Chiarelli has no idea what he's doing... surely there was no warning this was the case when Edmonton hired him ten days after Boston fired him for setting fire to a Cup winning team in short order.... Anyway, good trade, JBOT.
  5. Colorado signs Yakupov. To fill the incredibly frustrating hole left by Grigerenko, evidently.
  6. And Torts won the Jack Adams. This says more about the crushing existential meaninglessness of the NHL awards and the insular navel gazing back-slappery of those voting for them than it does reality. IMHO.
  7. As was mooted re: Torts, does anyone actually rate Chiarelli at this point?
  8. I dunno, he's been getting far too much positive ink for what's going on in Columbus. The feigned shock of the entire hockey media when is all goes sideways (as it inevitably will) will be delicious.
  9. GM: Lou Lamoriello. Jersey would have been on fire a few times if the league hadn't done his bidding to fix his mess. HC: Torts. The meltdown is coming, we must not be fooled into forgetting how this goes. F: Stamkos. Bullet dodged last summer. D: Shea Weber. The Habs are going to be praying for the sweet release of the lockout in a year or two. G: Quick, but this drum has been banged so loudly for so long he's probably close to properly rated by most now.
  10. The subtraction of Disco and the Whiteboards (dibs on this one for my indie band name) should be worth a few points even before we start talking about improvements to the roster, which I don't think JBOT is done tinkering with yet anyway. Playoffs, please.
  11. I have a strong suspicion there's at least one, and possibly two shoes left to drop before the season starts. Kane and Lehner need to be sorted out, and I think that "out" is how they'll be sorted (based solely upon the opinion of this particular message board JAG with no articulable basis for it). The question becomes, what comes back?
  12. Oh it's happening. And it's spectacular. Apparently $70 million in bonus money as well. Idiots.
  13. There will definitely be another lockout in 2022. Amnesty buyouts will be returning once it's resolved. I'd be willing to be every front office is well aware of this.
  14. Sir, have you forgotten Villie Leino?
  15. My daughter's birthday today. Watching her enjoy the day with friends and family was awesome. Assembling a Barbie McMansion roughly the size of my actual house? (Thanks, Mom) not so much. Things improved once it was done. Only one audible vulgar outburst for the house full of children to hear, as well.
  16. Evidently playing a handful of games for the Sabres will get you a job in the organization later on. I always irrationally hated Taylor, as they gave him 16 right after Patty was traded. Still, He knows a thing or two about the AHL.
  17. As I recall Jagr posted the photo in an effort to save her the trouble. Which only makes it funnier. Still, pass. Two years ago maybe.
  18. Ullmark is still waivers exempt this season. Which makes all of this make more sense.
  19. No. I'd argue that he was worth the contract, until the contract was made radioactive in retroactive fashion by cap recapture.
  20. I mean, they can't have the league sanction a deal to alternate universe Ottawa, who would be the only buyer there. (far too healthy for Arizona)
  21. I have a perfectly rational and reasonable antipathy towards DMB, it's called: I went to college in the 90's and the delta bravos who worshiped at that altar ruined it for me. Still get the jibblies whenever I hear them. That being said, there is no judgement to be made in matters of taste; top however many of whatever lists are no fun and beside the point.
  22. Pretty much this. Had Andy's mother not given birth to him slightly outside the goal crease I doubt he'd ever have been able to have made it there. He made a great career out of a limited talent. Good for him. Still, many more worthy candidates.
  23. That, statistically speaking per this graph, five or six kids per year drafted in the first round will be expected not to make it makes me seriously wonder if anybody really knows what they're doing.
  24. It can not be overstated how frustrating it was to watch Grant Fuhr continue to play for some reason, especially the season after Hasek won his first Veznia. Even my father, who isn't the most diehard of hockey fans, was given occasion to scream loudly at the television one bad evening: "Why is Fuhr still on this team!?" Maddening.
  25. https://sports.yahoo.com/coyotes-gm-wanted-tippett-back-not-interested-hossa-214752979.html?soc_src=social-sh&soc_trk=tw Nice to see I'm not the only one who hears a player with a large cap hit relative to actual salary will never play again and immediately thinks: "trade to Srizona imminent?" I have a hard time believing that they're not in on Hosea. He's the veritable perfect Arizona Coyote.
