Soccer (Football) ~ Everything About The Beautiful Game
Sabel79 replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
The only memory I will ever have of Rooney (well, besides the grandma shagging) is his hilarious dive to win a penalty that ended Arsenal's still unmatched undefeated run ten years ago. Of course, English players don't do that and it's all the foreigners bringing in the cheating... heh. I'll admit that he's been a great player, but I hate him with the fire of 1000 suns. -
October: What to expect when you're expecting HOCKEY
Sabel79 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I expect the disco demolition to be worth at least 20 points. Not freaking kidding. This team as assembled is a playoff team. Going forward. Something Disco had no concept of. All will be well. -
Conversation I just had with the woman who runs the mini mart by my house: Her: I'm worried about you. Me: Um, why? Her: you're always buying beer in the morning. Me: well, if it makes you feel bettter I'm going back to day shift September 1. Her: wait, you work nights? Me: have since June first. Will do so again, but not in September. Her: here, have the pints you paid for. Christ. The sheer number of winos, some of whom are interdicted by Virginia law and it's a crime to sell alcohol to them, wandering the streets. The But I'm the problem....

I am trying really, really hard not to make a Disco joke, what with all the talk of grinding...

Even Jack can be wrong about some things...

Yes. Drinking coffee other than black should be outlawed.

Were better previously. Will be better from this season? My money's on no.

I know that different contracts have different impacts on individual teams and their cap situation, and must therefore be considered in context, but Bobby Ryan at five more years and $7.25 per... wow...

I didn't say that soft spot existed because he was any good...

Good call on 13. Always had a soft spot for the Yurinator. Frankly, the only other option I can think of is Kozlov, and just plain eff that guy.

You're absolutely right, but that is a very low bar... Depending on how this season goes I might just argue he's there now. -
Stated another way: if you only ever expect the worst, you will only ever be pleasantly surprised. That having been said I can't help but see my expectations rise as the season nears. We won't see the '86 Oilers out there, but we will also not see the '16 Sabres. Literally anything in between the two is fine. (I would also take the '86 Oilers if I have to)

He will, of course, score an incalculable number in the game he does play in. Teams of scientists and mathematicians at some, nay, all of the world's most prestigious universities will spend decades attempting to figure it out. They won't.

"Lunchtime" is a fluid concept at my work (24/7 kinda place). But yes, for the love of all that is holy, don't toss a pregnant lady's food.
-
Workfridge drama reminds me of perhaps the funniest thing I've ever seen at work. This involves two colleagues of mine, Crazy Lady and 9 Months Pregnant Lady (at the time, anyway). CL decides that she's going to clean out the fridge. Admirable. She even sent an email to the office as a whole stating she was going to do this. What she didn't do was give a single about anything after that, cleared out the fridge and felt good about it. Again, mental. Pregnant Lady discovers, to her dismay, that Crazy Lady has disposed of her food that she put in the fridge twenty minutes prior when she arrived at work. I was not there, it have been told that the things that came out of her mouth were borderline satanic. Would have been fun to watch. Moral of the story: if you're gonna do good, make sure you actually do good.

Filthy, filthy shin pads.

Speaking of Batmen, hot take incoming: Will Arnett and Adam West are the two best, in that order. Their versions properly capture the tongue-in-cheek absurdity of the material. When the comics went all dark and gritty in the 80's was when the entire concept jumped the shark. Take it from me, a guy who hasn't purchased or read a comic book since about 1993.

A prime asset probably. Three prime assets, nah.

If it makes you feel any better, teenage pregnancy has declined by almost 25% over the last decade in the US. Still absurdly high as compared to the rest of the developed world. Also, I would be willing to bet it'll be going back up for the next few years though. Saddest thing I came across during my Social Services days: 27 year old grandmother. I can't even with that.

https://youtu.be/hbr1hNp-nI4 More grousing: The Mets traded Jay Bruce to Cleveland. By all accounts, they turned down a better return from the Yankees because Cleveland agreed to pick up his entire salary. $5 million saved. Roughly $70 million coming off the books after this season. I doubt it'll all be reinvested in actual players. The league is going to have to something about the Wilpons soon. Probably won't though. welcome to the early 90's again, I guess...

Laine's as well.
