For all the bluster, the Leafs haven't won the cup since three years before the Sabres existed. The last relevant Leafs team was terminated with extreme prejudice by the Sabres... Specifically Goeff Sanderson's goal 19 years ago. They are going to be curb-stomped in the first round no matter who they play because they don't have a goalie. Being miles ahead of the Sabres isn't exactly an accomplishment at this point. Think bigger.
