  1. This seems like a "scared front office" move; overly cautious and uncertain of how to proceed, so go with the familiar. They are fully cognizant of the weight of the last 12 years of utility. It's a factor in their moves, but shouldn't be. Underwhelming.
  2. No, Sam McCarthy's was on the corner of O'Connell and Kentucky Street. Sam was Gene's older brother.
  3. I loved Hannigan. He had great stories. For his day job, he worked for a beer distributor. Saw him more than once at Sammy McCarthy's saloon down in the Old First Ward.
  4. If they stumble out of the gate next year (e.g. 8 game losing streak) Granato needs to be fired, at a minimum. I reserve judgment on Adams, pending what kind of moves he makes in the off season. Without naming names (everyone has their [least] favorites), I hope for a minimum of 5-6 different personnel on opening night next year, and not just for the sake of change, but rather tangible upgrades. No more excuses!
  5. Reading the post game comments, I sense perturbations in the Force.
  6. Rick Dudley punched the snot out of Broad Street bully, Bob Kelly.
  7. But we lost 8 without Samuelson early on.
  8. Hate to say it, but I think heads have to roll; that blowout in Boston, and this game wipe out any good will that management knows what it is doing.
  9. Maybe so, but at least the Avalanche have won three Cups, including last season's.
  10. Wow, a former 2nd Round Pick, 33rd overall, traded for a 7th rounder. That's Buffalo
  11. "I want moves but I’m also on the conservative side. I’m disinterested in giant risk-laden trades". I think GMTM left many with that feeling. We may have reached the polar opposite now. The actual price the Sens paid for Chychrun seemed considerably below the prognosticated price, and one the Sabres by all accounts could have met, or exceeded. We're not talking about breaking the bank to go off script.
  12. Not doing himself any favors.
  13. I honestly think Adams is afraid to make a deal. Seems like Regier; valuing what he already has too high.
  14. Just watching the highlights, what a player Dylan Cozens has blossomed into!
  15. You do a wonderful job of pointing out the generational aspect of being a fan.
  16. Insightful. Thanks!
  17. I'm a retiree; how about some tips on wise/unwise use of time? Always looking to improve.
  18. "younger fan takes"? like maybe players wearing business suits without socks? What might those different takes be?
  19. Nice scoop! Hope we are in on it!
  20. It seems like this team starts out very cold after schedule breaks lasting more than several days, especially first periods. We shall see.
  21. So happy to see this. I love his energy, and talent-wise feel like he's just scratched the surface of the professional he's going to be.
  22. That is a moving personal account from Jessica Pegula. Serious respect and empathy for her and the entire family.
