Not really sure where I read it now, but i read that the plan is to have the two Staals play on the same line. I believe Eric will move to left wing if i recall the article.

No girls globally play soccer or cares for it one bit. 80% of all spectators of todays games were handed FREE tickets to go watch, and yet, stadiums were still 15% full. It's a joke. USA has won all but 1 Olympic gold in womens soccer. It's not a fair competitive field if USA is the only nation who treats it somewhat legit and dominates everyone. Womens soccer got big in China and people said it'd explode after they hosted the games, but yet, participation among girl youth has decreased in the past 4 years. And China spend a bazillion dollars last 10 or so years on developing their nations sports as they prepared for the 2008 games. USA is the ONLY country that "cares", if you can call it that. No league is stable here. None of them make money, USA women get the benefit of the doubt in this country because of equal rights and title 9, and USSF is sitting on a pot of gold, and thus they can sponsor the womens financial loses by spending tons of money on sending these girls worldwide on games and bringing over teams to the US for matches. Not sure why you guys are so shocked. It's been often talked about in the media as this could be the last year of the Womens Soccer at the Olympic Games. Although, i personally think 2016 will be. I highly doubt they extend it past that. Because no interest.

They need to get rid of womens soccer from the Olympics. No such thing as competition, and popularity, is, well, non existent. Scotland will never host the Olympic games but they do have an event in Glasgow, a city of over 2.5 million people. Yet, they can't even get ANYONE to go. 80% of the total crowds, were given FREE tickets. Thats just a joke. If the sport had any kind of popularity, people would go just for the sake of going and saying they saw an Olympic event.

For this squad, i think 6th would be success. I don't think we're a playoff caliber team with the current roster.

@Mikehaim is pretty cool. He is also into advanced stats, but for local teams. He just doesn't tweet very consistently during the season for whatever reason. But when he does, it's top notch stuff.

nfreeman, whats your twitter handle?

In international competitions, Doan usually wears #91 for Canada, because #19 is usually taken. So i doubt he has Hodgson change.

I don't know what's good about that? Apparently teams are offering 2-3 year deals, with about $5.5 million per season. The Sabres probably offered the 4 year, $30 million, and this guy isn't even going to come down and visit with us? To me, this sounds like they will only keep the Sabres around as a bargaining chip to get the most money out of a market where Doan does want to play. It is apparent that he does not want to play in Buffalo. Personally, i don't blame him. He wants to go to a winner. We couldn't even get into the playoffs last season. That has to be a priority. Ryan has size and is only 25. Offer a massive package of youth. If Myers is involved, so be it. If they need to add Ennis, then so be it. Trading prospects for Ryan will only upset Getzlaf and he won't want to stick around to rebuild, and we can use Ryan to try to lure Getzlaf to Buffalo next July (along with Pegula's millions).

You're correct, good call. Sorry i must of missed it, i thought he was signed and this wasn't the first time i made that mistake of penciling in Turnbull into the Amerks 2012 lineup. And, from what i've been reading on twitter, it doesn't sound like the Sabres are too interested in bringing him back. Too bad, i kinda liked his game. Though, im sure he won't really be missed.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twB9AOsnYwY And this. It was like two different games. First 40 minutes, Dallas was dominating and only had a 2-0 lead but after they made it 2-0 like 4min into the 3rd, i think the shots were like 20-1 in favor of Buffalo. We were just peppering shots at them. Never seen such a one-sided 16 minute span of professional hockey and then Roy tied it up with just 30 seconds left. Sabres later won it in the shootout.

Soccer (Football) ~ Everything About The Beautiful Game
Two or less replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
My favorite football club takes the pitch tomorrow, in the city of Durban, South Africa. Manchester United first game of the preseason against Amazulu FC. 2pm kickoff on Fox Soccer Channel. Can't wait. It's a watered down (and youthful) squad United is taking with them on this tour, but still excited to see the Reds in action. My footballing vacation is officially over with matches starting to begin! -
MSG. It's cool they are showing some of the best games of last season, but i wish they'd show games twice a week, instead of once. Like, on Saturday's show the best of last season, while on a Tuesday night, show a classic game.

The guy is battleing Mike Weber and Adam Pardy for the last spot. McNabb isn't even in the picture unless he absolutely kills it out there. But realistically, it's a 3 men battle for the final spot. If Brennen can't beat out either Weber or Pardy, i highly doubt anybody would pick him up on waivers from us. Similar to Pominville in 2005, he didn't make the team and passed waivers, despite so many thinking he would be picked. I believe only the Ducks came close to taking him, everyone else had absolutely zero interest.

I think people will be surprised at how many games Scott will play. I'd say it'd be around the 45 game mark. Amerks have several guys who can be considered Scott's backup plan. Tarnasky, obviously, but Tropp and Turnbull also are no push overs.

Very cool man.

 This may be the funniest thing i've ever seen on Sabrespace.

During the Olympics? And why Buffalo?

And how did you become a Sabres supporter?
-
I never really looked into the tweet, but if you read the tweet, and yes, obviously i may be digging too much into this, but, read the actual tweet for yourself- He ADDS Pittsburgh to the list TODAY. The "Eastern Conference" rumor came DAYS ago. We were the ONLY Eastern Conference team to have made an OFFER prior to today. If the 4 year, $30 million offer is legit, it's from the Buffalo Sabres. Am I reading this wrong?

Of course there is. Peppy22 on this forum is from Germany. A few others i have seen on this forum who are from Austria. Hockey is a international sport, and theres fans all over the world. Especially when a team has a player from a specific country, such as Germany (Hecht and now Ehrhoff), Austria (Vanek), ect, but don't forget Alex Ovechkin growing up in Russia liked the Sabres because of Alex Moginly. I think it's absolutely awesome seeing fans from all over the world support the team. I remember a few years ago, two Finnish fans made a USA trip, which included like a 3 day stop in Buffalo because they had always liked the Sabres but truly became fans when Teppo and Toni Lydman joined the team, and organized a trip around the Sabres to come here and they saw two games. They also visited Boston and NYC, but their primary reason was to see the Sabres in person. Kinda a once in a lifetime type dream trip for these guys. I remember i read the story on Sabres.com.

It's a 10 year deal. He has 9 years left. It's a ridic contract, although it has worked out, so far.
-
Rangers make plenty of sense. They are much closer to winning then we are, and they could definitely use a very skilled forward to go with their premier signing of last summer, Brad Richards. I just feel like, the Rangers under Torts are much less to make a desperation move like this, and would be more into waiting for a Rick Nash or Bobby Ryan. As far as the Sabres goes, Terry's cash has been used in ridicules contracts already.... Leino and Ehrhoff.

I don't think it's as bad as people are making it seem to be honest. Reporters are always siding with the players because thats how they do their job, talk to players. They can't ruin that relationship. 1-reduce players hockey related revenues to 46% from 57 %. (NBA is 50%, NFL is 49% i believe, 57% is RIDIC for a sport such as hockey if these sports are near 50%.) 2-10 seasons in NHL before being UFA. (Not much different from current system. If anything, this will increase trading) 3-contracts limites to 5 years (brilliant. These 13 year deals are such bush league. I know, with Pegula, it's benefited us, but c'mon, 10 years for Ehrhoff?) 4-no more salary arbitration. (Good, this is a out dated system anyways) 5- entry-level contract 5 years instead of 3. (brilliant again. 3 years for entry level is way too small. Tyler Ennis, who's ELC just ended, will probably get around $2.5 million per season. WHY? Based on what? Potential. 5 year entry level contracts, you'll need to earn it when your deal runs out. I believe the 46% is too low, though. But this is just the first proposal. I do think, 46% is closer to being accurate then the current 57%. But, something like 48-49% i think is what they will agree on. Other two things they are offering in this deal, is 22% salary rollback. While, i hate anyones salary to get cut, but, everyone will agree that hockey salaries have gotten out of control again. Also, a amnesty clause, similar to the NBA one. Each team can "cut" one player off their salary cap (but still must pay them the cash). Hmm... Leino?? This could be good... I will add, while a 5year entry level contract makes the most sense for the sport and teams, i fear it will hurt bringing in European players to the NHL. Joel Armia gets drafted, and he has to make $1.275 mil for 5 years? Seems unrealistic when he can make several million by that time by signing to play in Finland. This is a problem the NBA faces, as Europeans don't usually get drafted in the first round, but in the 2nd, because they remain in Europe for 2-5 years, to develop more and make serious cash. However, difference is, NBA doesnt rely on Euros, but the NHL does. Nah, we will. But opening night will be Wednesday, Thanksgiving eve.

Way too much. That's stupid money. I hope our front office isn't that dumb.

Awesome! Thanks.
