  1. Aaaaand they're back.
  2. Cam Ward in for Carolina tonight. Dan Ellis goes tomorrow in Buffalo. No. They lost their home opener 4-1 to Tampa Bay on Tuesday.
  3. Hockeysfuture.com did a story on Isackson and his improvement at the University of Minnesota. Rest of story- http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/84311/isackson-a-rising-star-for-the-university-of-minnesota/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=isackson-a-rising-star-for-the-university-of-minnesota
  4. That's too bad. Pretty scary to have a concussion at age 19 with the style of play that he plays.
  5. Agreed. Big third period for him and the team I think. I thought Flames played ok in the first, but were awful in the second. I don't think Flames should be anywhere near being in this game after 40 minutes, yet we're tied 2-2 after 2 periods.
  6. Look what Scott's sparing partner from Monday did tonight...
  7. Kassian has looked very solid all season i thought. In the fight against Eager on Sunday, still has Eager out of service with a concussion.
  8. You're onto something. Watch at the 2:47 mark. The daughters make it obvious that Terry had a thing for Ehrhoff well before they were able to sit down as a front office and explore all options. While, i am not saying Ehrhoff wasn't a good addition, because he was, but a proper hockey team should be build by hockey people. This makes it clear, he didn't care at ALL who was on board to signing Ehrhoff, he was going to attempt to. http://youtu.be/u8_EY9Y_UOs
  9. They're playing great. I personally feel Hodgson has been exceptional even without the two lucky goals. Jury is still out if he's playing great or if Vanek and Pominville's great play is allowing him to have the space and time to generate chances. When they were playing at a elite level last season, they even made Luke Adam look good. But, they will slow down eventually. And without secondary scoring, this team is going nowhere besides the draft lottery - no matter how good this line does.
  10. Def would of taken them if i didn't have to work. Thanks for offering though!
  11. If he does get traded, he will be a real good addition to any hockey club. However, i don't think he's the type of player the Sabres are looking to get. While he does have potential, and i think he'll be a very good player, he plays primary left wing, which we are not thin on at the moment, and he's still quite the project player. It will take time and development to get him to play at a higher level. Not sure if the Sabres want to spend time with his ups and downs while Pegula is dreaming of the Stanley Cup. Those who are turned off by his stats, you can't over look that he played fourth line minutes, and usually with not very good players. There would be times he'd play with another teenager or goons. He was never put in a position he could succeed in. There are many examples of players struggles and going elsewhere and have very good success. A recent player example is Kyle Turris- 45 points in 137 career games with the Coyotes. Traded to Ottawa. In 51 games with the Sens, he has 31 points.
  12. Grigorenko actually had solid ice time last night against Toronto. Despite being short handed for a good chunk of the first period, he still had 4:10 of playing time. After two periods, he had 9:30. It wasn't until the 3rd where Ruff only had him on the ice for short shifts, and ended the period with 3:30. I do think he needs some PP time though. He got 13 minutes against Toronto only playing even strength. (he did get :30 of pp)
  13. http://youtu.be/qWwZx5qTbg4
  14. During the live broadcast, i thought a tie. But, re-watching the replay a few times, it's definitely Orr who wins.
  15. Or his faceoffs. 2-9 vs. Philly. 1-6 vs. Toronto.
  16. He was a key member of the Russian junior team that won gold in 2011 in Buffalo. He scored a goal and an assist in the final against Canada. Should be noted, in comparison to Grigorenko, Tarasenko's first season against men as a 18 year old was 13 goals in 42 games... in the KHL, on bigger ice. He's played against high end talent and grown ups last 4 years. Grigorenko has only played against "men" just 2 games...
  17. lol oops. ps. thanks for actually reading my stuff! lol
  18. Lots of good things but then, there is also still lots of flaws in this team. Sure, they're 2-0-0 but there isn't much changed from last years 2-0-0 start. The only line that was scoring was Vanek/Adam/Pominville. There is no secondary scoring at all. Marcus Foligno and Drew Stafford have both been very invincible besides their fights. Myers has been brutal in both games. For the Sabres to be successful, he needs to be logging big minutes, and playing at a high level. So far, his flaws are getting hidden, by the 6pt Vanek and the 5pt Pominville. The third line has been brutal. Hecht has played really well in a defensive role, and on the penalty kill. But besides that, he's been useless. Grigorenko doesn't look like he's ready whats so ever. Interested to see how this team plays with Leino and Gerbe in the lineup. Leino can create, more then he showed last season, and Gerbe can add some speed. Ironically, last year we were all with high hopes after first 2 wins and then we let Carolina score 7 on us and it set us back to reality. I wonder how we'll all feel like come Friday night after 6 periods against Carolina? I would keep Grigorenko. His development reminds of of Sean Couturier. He didn't get much ice time to begin the season last year either. Got his first NHL point in his 3rd game, his first NHL goal in his 5th. After 11 games, Couturier had 2 goals and 1 assist last season. Team just needs to be patient and do whats best for his future. And playing against the best, and getting constant coaching, is what he needs.
  19.
  20. And fought Ben Eager. Great minds think alike. ;)
  21. Friendly reminder, with today being Martin Luther King jr Day, there is a few earlier games in the NHL, so don't miss out on changing your teams. I think the Bruins play at 1pm...
  22. His company runs the food service at the Buffalo airport and First Niagara Center. So, not only have we not run him out of town yet, but we smother him with loads of cash each day.
  23. Lindy Ruff has already said Ryan Miller will start in goal for Buffalo tomorrow on back to back nights. Something interesting- three goalies played today on back-to-back.... Brzygalov, Lundqvist and Smith. All three got destroyed, and Lundqvist got pulled. Goalies on back to back nights so far this season are 0-3-0. Just something to watch for.
  24. Not much i could say that wasn't already said but here are some of my thoughts - -Sekera was excellent all game. He logged a lot of minutes against the Schenn/Giroux/Hartnell line. -Myers was brutal. -Is there a better duo in the world of hockey right now then Pominville and Vanek? Their chemistry is scary good. -Loved Steve Ott. Exactly what we have needed for a long time. -Gained much respect for Stafford for standing up for Ennis with his fight against Hartnell. -Loved how Ruff was aggressive with his dmen. When the dmen were joining the rush, it seemed like we more times then not buzzed Bryzgalov. -Grigorenko under used. Played many shifts with Ott and Kaleta as his wings. If i recall, he got zero PP minutes. -Hodgson was i thought the best Sabre today. He was everywhere, just couldn't finish. Ended with 7 shots on goal. -Hecht played really well i thought. Does ALL the small things well. Led the Sabres forwards in PK minutes, and second on team only to Myers. Did struggle at FO circle. -Speaking of the FO circle, Ennis was 11-6 on faceoffs, the games best mark. (Ott was 4-2 which is better but i count Ennis better bc he was there much more)
  25. I have TWC Rochester and get all the games in HD. Usually the SD and 2 HD channels are from 1400-1410 (or something) but they added a all-HD lineup from 1560-1569.
