  1. Couldn't agree more. But there really is little to be discussed about retraction as it would never happen. League loses value, players union loses job. So, not only would the board of governors not approve, but either would be union. 32 is too many. The league would become younger and that's not a good thing. As you said, there isn't even enough talent for a 30-team league, now imagine new 44 full-time players coming in. On the bright side, it would make the Sabrespace 16 team fantasy league much easier... haha.
  2. I was there was special restrictions about the 2 add-ons per week. My team has 3 players on the IR this week, can i can only add 2 players.
  3. Was just coming here to suggest this.
  4. Really? Hmm, maybe it was just me but with the puck i was pleased at how Brennan joined the rush like a pro. He also got into Phanuef's face in overtime which showed a lot. He did have some holes in his game defensively, theres no doubt, and was caught once and we were facing a odd-man rush because of it, but IMO those are expected learning curves. With the Sabres having possession of the puck, i think he did pretty well joining the rush and distributing the puck. Doubt it. At the very least Ellis can win you a faceoff.
  5. I've been down on this team since the second game of the season. I was called out for being wrong and negative but the flaws were too obvious to over look. They are still big issues for the Sabres. But i won't beat a dead horse on that. From my point of view (sec 119) -Thought Foligno had another strong game. -Stafford actually played well tonight i thought. -Grigorenko made some errors but also made several good plays. He belongs in this league and will only get better. -Speaking of belonged, TJ Brennan i thought looked solid. Would like to see more of him. -Weber played very good too. -Was disappointing seeing both Hecht and Ellis on the 4v4 late in the OT. Seemed like Ruff was packing in and preparing for overtime. -After the Bruins game, i would not mind a long stretch of having a John Scott free lineup. -Sekera is a scapegoat for many, but the guy is a solid rock on defense. -Vanek must still be bothered with an injury, he was pretty inactive tonight.
  6. This has been such a entertaining game. Luongo isn't the best shootout keeper in the world, and must be a bit rattled with that late equalizer, my guess, Kings win this without even going to the 3rd shooter.
  7. Will make debut Saturday.. against Buffalo.
  8. True, he is light years ahead of Adam, but he is not a sure #1C yet either. You have to atleast agree with that? Hodgson also leads all Sabres forwards in giveaways this season. That is all true. But, Ennis won't have a long NHL career by being a backchecker. He needs to score. Doesn't happen consistently enough yet. He is much better then what he showed. Was it a bad season? Or is this just a bad situation for him? His only NHL success came with Hartnell and Briere. I don't agree with you on Stafford, but do agree with Vanek and Pominville. I'm just saying, they've been here for a long time with very little success. Along with Hecht (1 goal in last 23 games), the culture of this team from it's core is awful. For this team to be successful, they need to change the culture of the team, and if you do that, you need to put a dent into the core of the team. Getting rid of Connolly, Roy and Gaustad from your core and thinking you can fill in the rest of the pieces is a flawed way of thinking. Guys i'd get rid of in a hurray? Hecht (would of never brought him back), Stafford, Gerbe. Might not even just end there, but that would be the start IMO.
  9. Sorry, i don't buy it. -Highlighted guys have been our core for years with zero success. -Foligno is not a top6 forward. People just got fooled by a hot streak, at the same time by 3 players. His goal today, was just his second goal in his last 13 games played. -Stafford has 1 goal in his last 11 games. -Hodgson has success, but is playing with Vanek and Pominville. Jury is still out, on this turnover machine. Even Luke Adam has success with those 2 last year. -Ennis last year started with 4 goals in 24 games before he got playing well. Todays goal is his first in last 7. So far, he looks like Max Afinogenov's twin brother. -Grigorenko is a kid, who probably doesn't belong here yet. Has potential. -Ott is a grinder, was also said to be a fantastic faceoff guy. Today he was 1-7 on faceoffs. -Leino just scored 8 goals last year. This doesn't scream like a good team. They have more flaws then strengths. I don't even think it will be a easy fix to change this team around. I think they have some solid pieces, but many players for different styles that just don't fit in well here. Theres some bad long term deals that will hurt the team being able to move some of these players who just don't fit in for players who can. I fear rebuilding will be long and painful. Only the biggest kool-aid drinking fans think this team has a chance for the playoffs. -We have yet to win a game where a goal wasn't disallowed -Miller has been fantastic thus far. Wait til he goes into a "slump". So, when's the draft lotto again? Mark that date in the calenders...
  10. Awesome, thank you!
  11. Exactly! That season he scored 3 goals in 27 games until he got hot and scored 14 in 36 games. That 36 game stretch is the only good stretch he's ever had in the NHL, and nothing even comes close to it. Take those 36 games OFF, you have a hockey player that's played 111 professional hockey games and scored 10 goals. Think about that.
  12. He has 1 goal in his last 23 games. If he can't score, he's useless.
  13. Arnott deal to NYR is OFF.... NYR doctors did not clear Arnott.
  14. NBC is owned by Comcast, who televise Capitals game, so whenever Washington (or Chicago, San Jose, among others) are on NHL network or live feed on NBC sports, it's their feed.
  15. Capitals are 0-3-1. Sabres seem like the perfect cure. I don't see how we win. 4-1 Washington.
  16. Awesome! Thanks for posting that here DStebb!
  17. Danny Briere back in the lineup tonight for Philadelphia.
  18. Some quick notes- -Adam Pardy scored his first goal as an Amerk. -David Leggio started his 13th consecutive game in goal. -Brian Flynn scored in his 3rd straight game, now has 15 goals on the season. In the month of January (9 games), has 6 goals, 2 assists. -After going pointless 12 in a row, Mark Pysyk now has 1g, 2a in the last 2 games, including a goal and assist tonight. -Rookie Kevin Sundher scored his 3rd of the season. In his last 5 games, Sundher has 2g, 2a.
  19. What's that got to do with anything with my statement being false? He was still playing. Just like Szczechura. I doubt Szczechura got much time in training camp with the top line. I'm not talking about player potential or speculate about the future of the two players, i'm saying so far, as in factual. After three games as a Sabre last season, Szczechura had 3 assists and 6 shots on goal. Grigorenko 0 points, 3 shots on goal.
  20. Excellent point. Makes you wonder...
  21. Agreed. Dress him against Toronto (Orr rematch?) and Boston. Sit him the rest of the year. He's worthless.
  22. He's been hurt for three seasons? This is the same exact Tyler Myers we've seen for the past three seasons. About time people started to wake up and realize...
  23. I don't get this "one game" nonsense. -Tyler Myers have been brutal in all three games. -Jordan Leopold has been nowhere in all three games. -Ennis/Foligno/Stafford line has been brutal all season. -Grigorenko, aka, our savior, has looked worse then Paul Szczechura did with us last season. YIKES!!! -Besides top line, nobody has scored a 5v5 goal YET. -Fourth line of Scott/Hecht/Kaleta may be the worst line in the history of hockey. -Unlike past Ruff teams who are well disciplined, these guys have taken dumb penalties in each game so far. But, it's just "one game" right? Keep drinking the kool aid.
  24. Wild stat: Thomas Vanek has been on the ice for ALL 10 Sabres goals this season.... All season.
  25. Exactly. I've been saying that all week since the Toronto game. All the similarities are there. Where's the second line?
