Ott's wife says, "be a fan or F off". So, people who have been there for 15-20-25+ years who are negative about the current state of the team should just "F off"? LOL ok. This won't end well. I'm sure both Ott's will be backtracking a whole lot the next few days.

This is the dumbest thing i've ever read on Sabrespace. Congrats. The Sabres arena gets 19.070 fans a game or whatever the average is. MSG's local ratings are one of the highest in the league. You're going to classify the fanbase based on the arena crowd? The Arena crowd is more of a corporate crowd, which is why the atmosphere isn't always the greatest. The negativity about the current state of the franchise is much greater with fans outside the typical arena crowd anyways, with people who just can't afford to go on a nightly basis. People want the Sabres to do their best, and win for their city, because some people actually have pride in their city. When the team plays like a joke, only way the fans can show displeasure is by booing, or lack of supporting. This team hasn't won a playoff round in 6 years. Only been in 2 playoff series' since Drury and Briere were here. Pegula came in and promised the world. Reality is, this team is worse now then pre-Pegula. People are frustrated and annoyed and showing their displeasure. It shows our fanbase cares. But calling the Sabres fanbase terrible is ridicules. Most of the markets in America would dream of our merchandise sales, our tv ratings, our media presence (due to demand) and sold out crowds most nights, and when our team is a winner, there literally is no better place to play in the world then in Buffalo.

Thank god somebody here disagrees with Ott. He's making EXCUSES for the team playing lousy? One of the worst PPs in the league, one of the worst puck possession teams in the league, i believe they've allowed the most shots on goal this season. They've allowed a high number of short handed goals, Paul Hamilton says Tyler Myers struggles are much because of what poor shape he came in to camp. All Ott is doing is making excuses. Take responsibility. Mike Robitaille on WGR said yesterday that he's ok with booing. He said whenever the crowd at the Aud booed, he'd be embarrassed for himself and the team, and made damn sure that players changed it by playing harder. It was a wake up call of sorts.

I would post my prediction as to what I think will happen, but i don't want to upset Rolston's or Miller's feelings anymore. -
Remember when waiving Tim Kennedy was the big Sabres news?
Two or less replied to SDS's topic in Archive
Thats tough to say, because Kennedy would of been a every night type player for Lindy Ruff who knew how to use him best and he was effective here. The more he played, the more he could of developed into a better player who could succeed in different systems. We'll never know though. -

I remember some reporter made a huge deal about waiving Kennedy would be one of Darcy's biggest regrets. I forget who. Then in our home opener, Kennedy was a healthy scratch for the NYR... lol -
For what it's worth, Columbus was willing to offer a first round pick for Stafford, until Gaborik became available last second. http://kuklaskorner.com/tso/comments/two-sabres-trade-offers-that-were-rejected

McCabe said after he was drafted that he told the Sabres on draft night that it was very important for him to finish school before turning pro. So, i dont think we'll be seeing McCabe for 2 more years. At that time, he may even be ready for NHL.

While we wait for trades, here's the latest episode. On Ron Rolston:

Well they had 11 in the first. Just three in the second as they spend much of the period on the PK, and six in the third. In the first period they were ALL over us. -

Not in the first period they didn't. I wonder what the puck possession was? Even 5v5, prior to the penalties. -

Loved the heart the Sabres showed tonight. Seemed like everyone was playing with a purpose and with something to prove. The only guy i thought struggled tonight was Marcus Foligno. Didn't hit, didn't get infront of the net, didn't go to the boards and battle anybody. Pittsburgh out hit us 31-15, and this is the type of game i think Foligno can excel in, as long as he doesnt cross that line, to keep getting under their skins. I even thought Stafford played well tonight. 82 was the only weak link out there for me in this game. -
On Fan 590 today on Hockey Central, they said Sabres made it known in the Regehr deal they wanted draft picks, and not actual bodies/prospects.

Thank you Leo and Reggie the combine lover.....

When we were all gathered on Sabrespace for days like a bunch of children waiting for Christmas when Pegula was flying to Regehr's cottage to recruit him as the first player to be signed in the new "hockey heaven" era, i never envisioned that Regehr's career would end like this- 105 games played, 1 goal, 6 assists, -16 and zero playoff games. -
Value wise the deal is very good for Buffalo. But, the hockey department needs to be in lots of work of evaluating and scouting players to make sure they start hitting some real winners in these next few draft classes.
-
I feel like i'm beating a dead horse, but i don't see how this is a bad thing? It gives the Sabres more flexibility in future drafts, or, the extra slack to be able to be buyers in future deadline days if the team does over come the current woes. We already have 9 draft picks in the 2013 draft, including two in the second round. Chances are high that more picks will be had in the next two days. Why put all of our entire shock into the 2013 draft?
-
Darcy still workin' it... Dennis Bernstein @DennisTFP Hearing Sabres definitely not done, Kings may have a 2nd move up their sleeves.
-
I think people are over reacting about this no 2013 pick. There is more deals to be made. Sabres already have nine picks in this years draft. More deals to be made. Maybe they wanted to spread the picks up? Maybe they know they're getting more picks? I think it's premature to look at the picks and think they did poorly with the deadline still two days away.
-
Should be noted, Kings don't have a 1st round pick in 2013, so maybe they were unwilling to offer their second this year, but were the only team willing to offer two seconds as long as it's not 2013... ?
-
Exactly. I don't think Pegula will allow a full rebuild. But a quick, rebuild on the run/reload type process and if we're flirting with 8th place, it gives us extra chips to deal for rentals. That has got to be the plan i would think.
-
No second round pick in 2013. 2014 and 2015.. LA KingsVerified account @LAKings LAK has acquired d-man Robyn Regehr from BUF for 2nd rd picks in 2014 and 2015. This trade is contingent on Regehr passing a medical exam.
-
Helene Elliott @helenenothelen Regehr must undergo physical before deal is finally, finally, final.
-
Or the fact he's 5th in total ice time by Sabres defensman this season. Only guys who play less then Regehr this season have been Suzler, Pysyk and Weber.
